  • Publication number: 20120188484
Abstract: In a liquid crystal display device having a display region defined by an area where a TFT substrate and an opposing substrate are superposed on each other, the present invention realizes a structure for avoiding breakage of a mechanically weak terminal section where the TFT substrate only extends. The terminal section where the TFT substrate only extends is mounted on a resin mold. Inside the resin mold, partition walls are formed to accommodate LEDs. By providing two partition walls in a pair at least in a center portion, an external pressure exerted on the center portion of the resin mold is distributed between the two partition walls and a maximum stress exerted on the terminal section of the TFT substrate is reduced.

  • Patent number: 8203261
Abstract: A flexible display device bendable in a certain direction is realized. R, G, and B pixels are arranged in a mosaic pattern. The display is bendable in a first direction, but is not assumed to be bent in a second direction. A data line extends in the first direction and a select line extends in the second direction. In order to prevent accumulation of distortion in the data line and breakage of the data line when the display is bent in the first direction, the data line is formed into a crank shape. Accordingly, even when the display is bent, an amount of distortion accumulated in the data line corresponds to only a length thereof in the first direction, and therefore, the distortion can be reduced. As a result, breakage of a wire in a flexible display can be prevented.

  • Publication number: 20120081643
Abstract: To reduce misalignment between pixels and color filters caused by thermal expansion of substrates in a liquid crystal display device in which an opposing substrate including a resin and including color filters is disposed over a TFT substrate including a glass substrate. Glass fibers are included extendedly in the direction of a black arrow in the opposing substrate. Consequently, the thermal expansion coefficient of the opposing substrate in the direction of the black arrow is close to the thermal expansion coefficient of glass fibers and hence the difference in thermal expansion in the direction of the black arrow between the TFT substrate and the opposing substrate is small. Meanwhile, although the thermal expansion of the opposing substrate in the direction perpendicular to the black arrow is large, color purity is not influenced even if misalignment occurs in the direction.

  • Publication number: 20110314990
Abstract: A glass cutter is provided which can form, using a wheel, a uniform crack in glass even when a projection or an earlier-formed scribe line is present on the glass. When the wheel is moved on the glass, a fracture layer is formed causing a rib mark to be formed below the fracture layer and a crack to be formed below the rib mark. To cut the glass, the crack is required to be formed uniformly. Applying a force to resist the rotating force of the wheel makes it possible to form a uniform crack even when a projection is present on the glass. This improves glass cutting yield.

  • Patent number: 7903192
Abstract: The invention provides a display device which can reduce breaking of a TFT substrate at the time of connecting a wiring member to the TFT substrate after decreasing a thickness of the TFT substrate and a manufacturing method of the display device. A TFT substrate and a counter substrate are adhered to each other to form a display panel. After connecting a wiring member to a line connection portion of the display panel, a portion of the display panel to be etched is masked. An etching protective film formed of an organic film is applied to the masked display panel by coating. Thereafter, a mask is peeled off together with the etching protective film formed on the mask and the display panel is immersed in an etchant thus polishing an exposed surface of a glass substrate to a predetermined thickness. Thereafter, a chemical polishing protective film formed on a wiring member is removed.
