  • Publication number: 20100245751
Abstract: When a display device is formed using a plastic substrate, a yield is increased for separating individual display devices from a mother substrate. On a mother TFT substrate, plural TFT substrates are formed each of which includes a display region and terminal portions. On a mother opposed substrate formed of a plastic substrate having a thickness of 200 ?m or less, display regions are formed so as to correspond to the display regions formed on the mother TFT substrate. On the mother opposed substrate, terminal openings are formed beforehand so as to correspond to the terminal portions formed on the mother TFT substrate. With this configuration, when the display devices are separated from the mother substrate, it is not necessary to perform half cutting for exposing the terminal portions, so that the display devices can be manufactured with high yields.

  • Publication number: 20090051640
Abstract: A flexible display device bendable in a certain direction is realized. R, G, and B pixels are arranged in a mosaic pattern. The display is bendable in a first direction, but is not assumed to be bent in a second direction. A data line extends in the first direction and a select line extends in the second direction. In order to prevent accumulation of distortion in the data line and breakage of the data line when the display is bent in the first direction, the data line is formed into a crank shape. Accordingly, even when the display is bent, an amount of distortion accumulated in the data line corresponds to only a length thereof in the first direction, and therefore, the distortion can be reduced. As a result, breakage of a wire in a flexible display can be prevented.

  • Publication number: 20090045752
Abstract: The invention provides a display device which can reduce breaking of a TFT substrate at the time of connecting a wiring member to the TFT substrate after decreasing a thickness of the TFT substrate and a manufacturing method of the display device. A TFT substrate and a counter substrate are adhered to each other to form a display panel. After connecting a wiring member to a line connection portion of the display panel, a portion of the display panel to be etched is masked. An etching protective film formed of an organic film is applied to the masked display panel by coating. Thereafter, a mask is peeled off together with the etching protective film formed on the mask and the display panel is immersed in an etchant thus polishing an exposed surface of a glass substrate to a predetermined thickness. Thereafter, a chemical polishing protective film formed on a wiring member is removed.

  • Publication number: 20070200485
Abstract: In an image display device that utilizes field emission and has electron sources made of carbon nanotube or the like, a break attributable to a wiring pattern of thin lines is controlled. Cathode spots and cathode lines are formed independently of each other so that even if one cathode spot is broken, all the cathode lines may become defective. Specifically, each of the cathode spots includes an electron emission layer and a cathode base bearing the electron emission layer. The cathode lines are formed separately. Each cathode spot is electrically coupled to a cathode line via a cathode branchline. Owing to the structure, even if part of the electron emission layer is broken, the other part thereof coupled to the cathode lines will not be adversely affected.

  • Publication number: 20070018563
Abstract: This invention relates to a field-emission-type flat-panel display apparatus that obtains an image by causing the electrons emitted from each of electron sources arranged in matrix form to impinge upon the phosphors formed on a phosphor screen. A carbon nanotube is used as an electron source material in this flat-panel display apparatus, and the electron sources are formed by printing. The vertical sizes of the depressions and projections on the surface of each electron source which has been formed by printing are suppressed to a value equal to or less than 1 ?m, preferably, equal to or less than 0.5 ?m. This makes it possible to obtain a flat-panel display apparatus of stable emission characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20060197435
Abstract: Two electrodes out of a cathode electrode, a gate electrode and a focusing gate electrode are formed on a same plane of a back substrate adjacent to each other, and this electrode structure is stacked in plural stages whereby the number of steps of printing process for forming the respective electrodes can be decreased and the alignment accuracy at the time of manufacturing the electrode structure can be largely alleviated. Further, by forming the cathode electrode and the gate electrode using the same material which contains carbon nanotubes, the alignment accuracy at the time of manufacturing the electrode structure can be largely alleviated. Accordingly, it is possible to manufacture an emissive flat panel display device easily and at a low cost using printing coating process or the like which is usually used.
