  • Patent number: 4202166
Abstract: A solid state watch module construction has a ceramic substrate on which an integrated circuit chip is mounted to provide drive signals for causing an electro-optical display means to indicate the time. The ceramic substrate is interposed between a battery supporting frame and a cell supporting frame which positions the electro-optical display means with respect to the substrate. The battery supporting frame holds a battery in place, which is retained by a battery retaining member. A connector member is disposed between the ceramic substrate and the electro-optical display means to provide electrical connection therebetween. A plurality of tubes are used for fixedly connecting the battery supporting frame and the cell supporting frame.

  • Patent number: 4178750
Abstract: A control circuit for an electronic timepiece in which a digit selection switch is connected to a timer circuit which generates an output signal only when the digit selection switch is actuated for a given interval of time. An output signal generation means is coupled to the timer circuit and rendered operative in response to the output signal from the timer circuit to generate an output pulse. A digit selection circuit is responsive to the output pulse from the output signal generation circuit for selecting a digit to be corrected in a timekeeping circuit.

  • Patent number: 4083177
Abstract: A liquid crystal display wrist watch is disclosed which comprises a supporting frame secured to a wrist watch substrate. The frame has two perpendicularly crossing supporting surfaces which cooperate with two corresponding reference sides of a liquid crystal cell to determine the position of exterior electrodes of the liquid crystal cell and segment electrodes of an electronic circuit. A holding frame plate is used for detachably urging the liquid crystal against the suppporting frame. A boundary plate and color filter are each sandwiched between a movement and a protective glass cover. A portion is provided for determining the position of the holding frame plate, with respect to either to the movement or an outer case.

  • Patent number: 4075825
Abstract: A watch body for an electronic watch containing an integrated circuit chip and a printed circuit board is disclosed. The watch body comprises an upper case and a bottom cover which are selectively interconnected one with the other. A lead package frame is sandwiched between the upper case and the bottom cover and contains a plurality of electrical leads disposed thereon and electrically coupled to the integrated circuit chip. The lead frame has first and second sides with the first side having a first cavity with the integrated circuit chip matingly engaged therein. The plurality of leads are disposed on the first side of the lead frame so as to surround this first cavity down the circuit chip. The second side of the lead frame has a second cavity with the printed circuit board disposed therein. By the use of the watch body of the instant invention, a significantly smaller number of components, a simpler manufacturing process is achieved.

  • Patent number: 3977176
Abstract: An electronic watch structure comprising separate molded plastic rectangular packages for the electronic watch movement and for the battery. The separate packages are mechanically and electrically connected together. The electronic watch movement package comprises two rectangular molded plastic halves having recesses, projections and hooks molded therein to hold the associated elements of the electronic watch movement in place. The movement package also includes a rectangular packing clamped between the halves of the package to form a waterproof seal. Furthermore, the battery in the battery package is electrically coupled to the electronic watch movement by conductive rubber composition members.

  • Patent number: 3971207
Abstract: A packing means for waterproofing a watch case having a non-conductive, flexible ring portion and a conductive yet flexible arm member is disclosed. The packing device is disposed in a watch case and allows for an electrical connection to be made between the watch and an external device. The ring member is made of a resilient, non-conductive, flexible material and is disposed in the watch case so as to be sandwiched between the top and bottom members thereof. At least one arm member also made of a resilient flexible material having first and second ends is coupled to the ring and extends into the center thereof. However, the arm member is conductive and electrically couples the watch (the internal components) with the external device. The arm member is coupled to the ring member such that the substantially watertight seal in the watch case is not destroyed.
