  • Patent number: 5247397
Abstract: A magnetic recording transfer method for use with the combination of a mother magnetic recording medium and a copy magnetic recording medium of a metal-deposited thin film type each. The two media are overlaid so that the column inclination of one medium will be opposite in direction to that of the other medium. This method comprises the step of externally applying a biased magnetic field to the combination of the media in such a manner that magnetized recordings on the mother medium will be transferred to the copy medium. The easy axis of the mother medium is positioned at an angle of 20.degree..+-.15.degree. with respect to the in-plane direction of the medium. The biased magnetic field is applied to the mother medium at an angle of 110.degree..+-.15.degree. with respect to the in-plane direction of the medium.

  • Patent number: 5184228
Abstract: In a recording apparatus for a mirror mother tape to be used in a contact-type magnetic printing process, a chrominance signal of an incoming color video signal is converted into a down converted chrominance signal having a reduced frequency fC, a beat cancelling signal having a frequency 2fC is generated from the down converted chrominance signal, the beat cancelling signal is added to a luminance signal of the incoming color video signal thereby generating an added signal, and the down converted chrominance signal is combined with the added signal to provide a composite signal which is recorded on a mirror mother tape.

  • Patent number: 4979691
Abstract: A magnetic tape contact printing apparatus includes a rotational transfer drum for driving a copy tape in intimate contact with a mother tape on which information signals are recorded, these information signals being transferred from the mother tape to the copy tape. The apparatus also includes a sensor for sensing the rotational speed of the rotational transfer drum, a pair of reel discs each mounting a copy tape supply reel and a copy tape take-up reel about which the copy tape is wound, and a pair of reel disc motors for driving the reel discs. A pair of tensioning devices respectively tension the copy tape running between the copy tape supply reel and the rotational transfer drum and between the latter and the copy tape take-up reel.

  • Patent number: 4819102
Abstract: A magnetic tape transfer printing apparatus including a drum mounted for rotation. A master magnetic tape having information recorded thereon is held in contact with a slave magnetic tape on a portion of the circumferential surface of the drum. A magnetic transfer bias field is applied to transfer the information from the master magnetic tape onto the slave magnetic tape. The drum contains a high-permeability magnetic material at least in the circumferential surface. This is effective to decrease the lateral component of the bias magnetic field and increase the vertical component of the bias magnetic field, thereby minimizing the degree of demagnetization of the master magnetic tape during the transfer printing process.

  • Patent number: 4786988
Abstract: A mother tape is adapted to perform magnetic or thermal high-speed contact printing for duplicating video data or information to be reproduced in a VTR monitor with eliminating spike noise otherwise contained in the reproduced control signal. The mother tape stores video information including control signals. The control signals have a waveform which has a first level immediately following the leading edge and lower than a second level corresponding to the normal high level, and a third level immediately following the trailing edge and higher than a fourth constant level corresponding to the normal low level. The first- and third-level waveform "buffers" thus created tend to suppress the spike noise conventionally occurring at the leading and trailing edges of the reproduced control signal and ensure more reliable tracking, tape speed control and so forth.

  • Patent number: 4768107
Abstract: A high-speed contact printing system is provided with a read head which picks up control signals recorded on a slave tape and a recording head which, after a given delay following reproduction of the control signal by the read head, writes the refined control signal back onto the corresponding section of the slave tape. The recording head is so arranged relative to the read head as to face the proper recording track on which the control signal is to be recorded after the given delay. For application to both .beta. and VHS systems, the distance H between the read head and the recording head is determined according to the following formula:H=N.sub..beta. .times.T.sub..beta. =N.sub.VHS .times.T.sub.VHS ( 1)whereN.sub..beta. and N.sub.VHS are integers;T.sub..beta. is the recording pitch (mm) of the control signals in the .beta. system; andT.sub.VHS is the recording pitch (mm) of the control signals in the VHS system.

  • Patent number: 3971070
Abstract: In a thermal printing apparatus for magnetic tape in which a running sleeve tape is heated up by a heating means at a predetermined position on a tape running path, pressed to a running master tape by a printing roller at another predetermined position on the tape running path and signals recorded on the master tape are thermally recorded on the slave tape, the running slave tape is located at a heating position opposite to the heating means during the thermal printing operation and it is located at a non-heating position not opposite to the heating means when the thermal printing operation is not desired.

  • Patent number: 3971069
Abstract: A thermal printing apparatus for transferring or thermally printing information recorded on a master magnetic tape to a slave magnetic tape which includes a device for detecting or measuring the temperature of the slave tape ahead of the thermal printing process and in which the transport speed of the slave tape and master tape is controlled to accurately control the temperature of the tape. The difference between the temperature of the slave tape ahead of the thermal printing and a reference temperature is utilized to control speed changes and thus achieve optimum thermal printing.
