  • Patent number: 6150616
Abstract: In an electroconductive contact unit, a base end of a compression coil spring which may be either a contact member itself or a spring member for urging a needle-shaped contact member is received in a support recess formed in a base board. An end of the internal conductor of the base board is exposed on the bottom end of the support recess, and is electrically connected to the base end of the compression coil spring. There is no need for any electric connector, and the electric resistance between the internal conductor of the base board and the contact member can be minimized. To ensure a favorable electric connection, a base end of the compression coil spring may be soldered to the exposed end of the internal conductor which may be either flat or recessed.

  • Patent number: 6043666
Abstract: In an electroconductive contact unit including an electroconductive coil member received in an axial bore with the axial ends of the coil member projecting from the axial bore so as to serve as contact pin sections, the contact pin sections are formed by closely wound segments of the coil member while the middle part of the coil member is formed as a compression coil spring section for biasing the contact pin sections. The compression coil spring section includes a coarsely wound segment and a normally wound segment. When in use, the adjacent turns of the coil wire of at least the normally wound segment of the coil member are brought into contact with each other so that the coil member is made electrically equivalent to a cylinder in most part, and can thereby minimize its electric inductance and electric resistance.

  • Patent number: 6028741
Abstract: A flexure (2) has hook-shaped restricting pieces (18, 18), while a load beam (3) opposed to the restricting pieces (18, 18) is provided with an insert piece (11). When the flexure (2) and the load beam (3) are secured, the insert piece (11) of the load beam (3) is inserted in the restricting pieces (18, 18), so that the vertical shift of the flexure (2) is limited to within the height (H) of the restricting pieces (18). Hence, even if the magnetic head device is subjected to a strong impact, the flexure (2) does not shift in excess of the height (H), thus permitting improved shock resistance of the flexure (2).

  • Patent number: 6009051
Abstract: In a magnetic head device, I-shaped side and center cores are fitted to a slider, and magnetic gaps are formed by a part of the slider. Therefore, a magnetic path can be shortened, and the magnetic head device is constructed so as not to leave strains on the cores, so that the core loss is low. In addition, a back core (back plate) having a wide area is provided, so that heat-dissipating effect is enhanced. Therefore, magnetic field-generating efficiency can be improved in wide frequency bands. Further, by decreasing the number of turns of a coil, the inductance, the impedance, and the loss factor can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 5631574
Abstract: An electronic device is interposed between a pair of contact units of a contact probe unit without using any soldering or other permanent connecting arrangement. Alternatively, the electronic device is interposed between a securing plate and a contact unit provided with a pair of arrays of contact modules. Thus, the electronic device may be incorporated in the contact probe unit without requiring any permanent connecting arrangement such as soldering which may produce any contaminants or other undesirable substances or cannot be readily detached and attached. This is particularly important in a clean room environment. According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, said electronic device comprises an integrated circuit mounted on said sheet member. For instance, the electronic device may consist of a TAB for driving an LCD panel so that the LCD panel may be tested in a realistic condition.

  • Patent number: 5572490
Abstract: In a magnetic head apparatus that generates a strong magnetic field of magneto-optical recording or the like, a joint assembly of main and side cores is fitted into an accommodating groove formed in a ceramic slider, and a bobbin having a coil wound around it is fitted onto the main core. Further, a back core is fastened to the main and side coils. An electrical insulating layer extending along the dimension of the magnetic path is formed in the main core to divide conductive region by the sections of the main core. Thus, the eddy current generated along a dimension perpendicular to the magnetic path is suppressed, whereby the core loss is mitigated and the quantity of heat generated in the core is reduced.

  • Patent number: 5414369
Abstract: In a contact probe having a pair of needle members elastically projecting from two ends thereof for temporarily connecting two points by contacting them with the two needle members, a coil spring interposed between the needle member consists of material having a low electric resistance, and is securely connected to the rear ends of the associated needle members at its two ends by soldering, brazing, welding, or wire-wrapping to establish an electroconductive path between the two needle members. Thus, the two needle members are substantially directly connected with each other via the compression coil spring serving as an electric conductor, and the electric resistance between them can be kept low and stable. The elimination of a separate conductor to be connected between the two needle members allows the diameter and the length of the contact probe to be reduced.

  • Patent number: 5410260
Abstract: In a contact probe, the conventional tubular holder for receiving the needle member and the compression coil spring is eliminated by receiving them in a through hole provided in an insulator assembly consisting of at least two layers of insulating plate members. By thus eliminating the need for a tubular holder, the effective outer diameter of the contact probe can be reduced, and the density of contact probes in a contact probe assembly including a multiplicity of such contact probes in a parallel relationship can be increased without reducing the spring force of the coil spring or the mechanical strength of the needle member of each contact probe.

  • Patent number: 5394099
Abstract: A contact probe unit includes a plurality of contact probes secured to a receptacle holder plate member, and a free end guide plate member provided with a plurality of guide holes for slidably receiving the needle members, at a density higher than that of the contact probes at the receptacle holder plate member, and at least one intermediate guide plate member disposed between the free end guide plate member and the receptacle holder plate member so as to allow an axial movement to the needle members and provide a lateral support to the needle members. Thereby, each of the needle members can be favorably guided for axial movement between the receptacle holder plate member and the free end guide plate member so as to eliminate the possibility of two adjacent needle member touching each other in the region between the receptacle holder plate member and the free end guide plate member, and improve the durability of the needle members.

  • Patent number: 5239425
Abstract: A magnetic head for a magneto-optical recording device for magnetically recording information onto a magnetic recording medium under the condition where the magnetic recording medium is heated by irradiation of a laser beam. A leakage magnetic field is effectively suppressed by a skin effect, and a magnetic field due to an eddy current is effectively summed up with a magnetic field generated from the core end, thereby increasing an intensity of a total magnetic field to be applied to the magnetic recording medium. Further, a distribution of the magnetic field intensity at the core end can be easily adjusted to stably and widely apply the magnetic field to the magnetic recording medium.
