  • Patent number: 5173684
Abstract: The invention provides a sensor whose conductive sheet is composed of substantially non-cross-linked thermoplastic elastomer and conductive carbon. The conductive sheet has a maximum of 70 of Shore A-hardness. By virtue of the above structure, the sensor very sharply responds to electric resistance of the conductive sheet against presence of low molecular weight organic liquid such as gasoline and vapor thereof to quickly detect leaked organic liquid or vapor with extremely sharp sensitivity. Furthermore, the detection system of the invention using the above sensor has a simple circuit which precisely detects varied electric resistance of the conductive sheet. The detection system characteristically incorporates an alarm generator to instantly warn operators of the presence of leaked organic liquid such as gasoline and vapor thereof.

  • Patent number: 5148335
Abstract: When information is recorded by emitting a laser beam from a laser beam source, focusing the laser beam to irradiate a recording layer of an information recording medium, and changing the optical characteristics of the irradiated portion of the information recording medium, an information signal is converted by a recording signal generator into a multilevel recording signal, and the output power of the laser beam to irradiate the recording layer of the recording medium is changed by a modulating unit in a multilevel manner in accordance with the recording signal. Therefore, a portion having different optical characteristics from those of a portion not irradiated with the laser beam is formed in the recording layer.

  • Patent number: 5061899
Abstract: A testing fixture for testing a transfer impedance of an electromagnetic wave shielding material including a pair of coaxial reducers opposed to each other, each of the coaxial reducers including a cylindrical outer conductor and an inner conductor disposed therein. Each of the outer conductors is provided with a flange at the outer side for engaging the pair of coaxial reducers. Contacting parts are positioned at an end of the opposing outer conductors. Outer connectors are positoned at the other end of the opposing outer conductors. Each of the inner conductors includes head parts positioned at the inside portions thereof and inner connectors positioned at the outside portions thereof. The contacting parts of the outer conductors and the head parts of the inner conductors support the electromagnetic wave shielding material. The outer connectors of the outer conductors and the inner connectors of the inner conductors couple coaxial cable to the testing fixture.

  • Patent number: 4469790
Abstract: Process for preparing a continuous and spontaneous human-interferon-producing lymphoblastoid cell line which involves (a) transforming human lymphocytes isolated from a human infant from birth up to about 2 years or an aborted human fetus, the transforming being carried out with Epstein Barr Virus and (b) selecting from the resulting transformed cell lines a cell line producing more than 1000 units of interferon per milliliter when cultivated at a cell density of 10.sup.6 cells per milliliter in the absence of any interferon inducer.
