    Abstract: A storage capacitor is constituted by a storage capacitor electrode, made of a transparent and conductive film extending substantially all over a substrate, and pixel electrodes overlapping with the storage capacitor electrode via an interlevel insulation layer. The storage capacitor holds charges. The storage capacitor electrode is positioned such that it faces the entire surface of the pixel electrodes. Since the transparent and conductive storage capacitor electrode does not reduce the aperture ratio, the storage capacitor can have a large capacitance. A signal voltage applied to the storage capacitor electrode is determined so as not to activate the thin film transistors which are not selected. A light-shielding layer is present at a position between pixel electrodes on or under the storage capacitor electrode. The light-shielding layer shields the thin film transistors, gate lines and drain lines from incident light, thereby preventing reduction of contrast of displayed pictures.

On the right side of the crankshaft is arranged a cam shaft. These shafts are parallel with each other and directed in the vehicle running direction.

A crankshaft, a main shaft, a secondary shaft and an output shaft are supported in parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle in a casing for both an engine and a transmission. The crankshaft, the main shaft and the secondary shaft are arranged on substantially the same level. The output shaft is disposed below the main shaft and the secondary shaft. The opposite ends of the output shaft project outside from the casing. The opposite ends of the output shaft are connected to a front driving shaft and a rear driving shaft, respectively.

    Abstract: An overload protective apparatus has fixed contacts connected to at least one pair of fixed terminals secured on the bottom of a case, a dish-shaped polymetallic element, e.g., a bimetal or trimetal having movable contacts bonded thereon so as to oppose the fixed contacts, and an adjusting bolt supporting a central portion of the polymetallic element for maintaining the polymetallic element at a position separate from the bottom of the case, wherein the polymetallic element and the adjusting bolt are accommodated in the case. The polymetallic element used herein is constructed to make a current density around bonding portions for the movable contacts higher than other regions, such that portions around the movable contacts are more susceptible to rupture when an abnormal current flows through the polymetallic element. The polymetallic element is also constructed to prevent degradation of the spring constant thereof.

    Abstract: In a computer system, when data for a register assigned to a current process arrives at a processing element, an instruction for loading this data is automatically inserted into an instruction sequence to be fetched by an instruction fetch unit provided in the processing element, thus synchronizing of data on registers is enabled. In addition, when data for a register assigned to a process which had previously been suspended and is not the current process arrives at the processing element, the data is written to a corresponding save area allotted in local memory for that register. Suspension of a process occurs at a point in time at which a register assigned to that process is accessed by an instruction but no data is yet present in the register and when this process suspension occurs, the process to be executed is switched to another process.

    Abstract: An overload protective device to the disposed in an electric circuit serving to supply current to a load has a pair of fixed contacts provided inside of a case and an inversible disk-like bimetal of a curved shape having a pair of movable contacts capable of coming in contact with the fixed contacts, respectively. A shaft is fixed to the case at one end thereof and formed with a head portion at the free end portion. The shaft extends though a hole formed in the central portion of the bimetal. When the bimetal breaks, a circuit breaker breaks the electric circuit permanently to thereby prevent the load and the overload protective device from being burnt out.

    Abstract: A balancer system for suppressing vibrations in an internal combustion engine for a motorcycle has pair of balancer shafts, and a pair of first and second primary counterbalances supported on the balancer shafts, respectively, for rotation about axes parallel to the crankshaft of the engine in ganged relation to the crankshaft at the same speed as and in the opposite direction to the crankshaft. The balancer shafts extend parallel to the crankshaft and are positioned one on each side of the crankshaft. The first and second primary counterbalances are rotatable about respective centers which are connected by a line passing through a substantially central portion of the crankshaft, the first and second primary counterbalances being rotatably supported on the balancer shafts near ends thereof, with the centers being spaced from the central portion of the crankshaft by substantially equal distances.

    Abstract: A selector box for switching between RS232 ports is disclosed. A single host terminal is provided and a plurality of channel terminals are provided. In a first mode, a command comes from the host terminal determining which of the channel terminals the host terminal will be connected to. In a second mode, the command comes from a channel terminal requesting access to the host terminal. The device can also be operated in a manual mode where a manual switch performs the connecting function. In the first mode the signal commanding the channel number is part of the transmit data signal of an RS232 interface. In the second mode, the various RS232 interfaces of the channel terminals are all scanned and the first channel to produce a certain signal receives access to the host terminal.

The size and weight of the engine are greatly reduced as compared with a conventional horizontally opposed type or V type engine.
