Patent number: 4485132Abstract: A method of continuous coating of metallic strip material carried into practice by using a continuous strip coating device wherein the thickness of the coating is decided by a gap between a pickup roll and a thickness control member spaced apart a predetermined distance from the surface of the pickup roll. The method includes the step of (1) setting the pressure of the paint and/or the size of the gap based on the data obtained by preliminary experiments, or (2) directly measuring the gap between the surface of the pickup roll and the thickness control member and feeding back the measurement, to bring the actual size of the gap into agreement with the value set beforehand at all times.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 1982Date of Patent: November 27, 1984Assignees: Hitachi, Ltd., Nisshin Steel Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yoshihisa Furuzono, Toshiyuki Kajiwara, Toshiyuki Kadota, Kazuyuki Nakano, Kenzi Tabusi

Patent number: 4387006Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of treating the surface of the copper foil used in printed wire boards, in which the copper foil, of which the surface thereof was preliminarily roughened, is electrolytically treated in an aqueous solution of zinc chromate containing zinc ions and chromium (VI) ions at a definite range of ratio; the thus-treated copper foil is then preferably immersed in an aqueous solution containing amino silane, sodium silicate and/or potassium silicate at a definite ratio. The use of the so-treated copper foil in multi-layer glass/epoxy printed wire boards (NEMA grade, FR4, FR5) serves to prevent the generation of brown spottings and the elimination of the delamination of the copper conductors. In addition, the use of the so treated copper foil in flame resistant paper/phenol printed wiring boards (NEMA grade FR2) leads to the elimination of the poor adhesive properties and delamination of copper conductors.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 1981Date of Patent: June 7, 1983Assignee: Fukuda Metal Foil & Powder Co., Ltd.Inventors: Toshiyuki Kajiwara, Katsuhito Fukuda, Yoshinori Tanii

Patent number: 4369646Abstract: A rolling mill having a pair of intermediate rolls interposed between a pair of working rolls exerting a working roll bending force and a pair of axially displaced in conformity with the lateral length or width of a rolled material and the intermediate roll bending force larger than the working roll bending force is exerted thereto, and the shape of the sheet is controlled by adjusting the axial position of the intermediate rolls and by exerting the working and intermediate roll bending forces thereto.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1980Date of Patent: January 25, 1983Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventor: Toshiyuki Kajiwara

Patent number: 4294394Abstract: A method of and apparatus for continuously hot rolling steel slabs. Separate pieces of steel slabs are continuously fed from a slab yard and delivered to a carriage which is adapted to move reciprocatingly along the line of path of the steel slab pieces. The carriage carries a welder which can move transversely of the path of the slab pieces, and also clamp devices for clamping preceding and succeeding slabs to fix them to the carriage, as means for keeping the preceding and succeeding slab pieces in abutting condition. As a steel strip including a plurality of slab pieces welded together is moved at a predetermined rolling speed into a rolling mill, the carriage moves substantially at the same speed to keep the succeeding slab in abutment with the trailing end of the last slab piece of the steel strip, to permit the welder to weld these slab pieces at their abutting end. This welding is performed only over a part of the cross-sectional area of these slab pieces.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 1979Date of Patent: October 13, 1981Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Yoshihiko Iida, Toshiyuki Kajiwara

Patent number: 4194382Abstract: A rolling mill comprises a pair of upper and lower work rolls, upper and lower backup rolls respectively backing those work rolls, upper and lower intermediate rolls interposed respectively between the upper work roll and upper backup roll and between the lower work roll and lower backup roll, and benders connected to the upper and lower intermediate rolls, respectively. This arrangement enables the surfaces of the upper and lower work rolls in contact with a material to be rolled to be made substantially rectilinear.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1977Date of Patent: March 25, 1980Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventor: Toshiyuki Kajiwara

Patent number: 4188809Abstract: Apparatus wherein a plurality of rings disposed in the direction of the width of a strip are pressed against the surface of the strip being rolled, and the distribution in the direction of the width, of the components of the tension of the strip as act on the respective rings is detected, thereby to detect the shape of the strip, characterized in that a plurality of cylindrical springs are fitted in the interspace between the inner periphery of each ring and the outer periphery of a shaft which rotates along with the rings, and that a gap sensor which detects the amount of eccentricity of the corresponding ring attributed to the component of the tension of the strip is arranged in the vicinity of the outer periphery of each ring.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 1978Date of Patent: February 19, 1980Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Masaki Ishimoto, Toshiyuki Kajiwara

Patent number: 4162627Abstract: A pair of upper and lower work rolls are supported by metal chocks provided with roll bending devices, and backup rolls are supported by metal chocks which may be movable in the axial direction. The backup rolls may be displaced in the axial direction so as to vary the length of line of contact between the work rolls and the backup rolls to control the distribution of rolling pressure transmitted from the backup rolls to the work rolls, whereby the sectional dimension may be controlled jointly using the bending forces of the work rolls.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 1978Date of Patent: July 31, 1979Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Shigeru Shida, Toshiyuki Kajiwara

Patent number: 4036041Abstract: A gage control system for a rolling mill for compensating for variation in the thickness of rolled material due to variations in the rolling load or pressure. In the system, the roll eccentricity frequency produced by the eccentricity of the rolls is detected and utilized for softening the effective rigidity or stiffness of the mill, that is, weakening the apparent mill modulus by control means according to the frequency of roll eccentricity. To this end, a positive feed back path including an eccentricity control unit is provided in parallel with a feed back path of the rolling pressure signal of a gage control circuitry of the so-called BISRA system. The eccentricity control unit serves to detect the roll eccentricity on the basis of a correlation principle and compensate for or cancel the effects of the feed back of the rolling pressure upon the occurrence of the roll eccentricity.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 1976Date of Patent: July 19, 1977Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Ken Ichiryu, Toyotsugu Masuda, Haruo Kinoshita, Toshiyuki Kajiwara, Shigemichi Matsuka
