  • Patent number: 5786063
Abstract: A multi-layered composite building material is provided which allows effective utilization of forest resources by using so-called low quality materials such as small-diameter wood, old wood, pieces of wood produced as byproducts of lumbering, and/or bamboo. The material can meet various requirements and properties, and can be produced at a low cost. In a structural layer, an adhesive agent is applied to a plurality of finely split pieces which are formed by finely splitting a raw material such as wood or bamboo. The finely split pieces are arranging in parallel to a fiber direction. A shock/vibration-absorbing layer is formed by applying an adhesive agent to small pieces of wood and bamboo and the like. Structural layers and shock/vibration-absorbing layers are alternately arranged to provide a multi-layered structure. The structure is press-molded to a predetermined thickness and optionally heated such that the layers are adhered together to produce the composite multilayered material.

  • Patent number: 5747432
Abstract: In pressing and molding a shadow mask or the like, press-molding oil containing alkyl carbonate shown in the following Chemical Formula as an active ingredient is coated on a press mold. After pressing and molding a metallic material with the press mold, the press-molding oil is washed and removed with warm water. Alternatively, the oil is dried or thermally decomposed. As a result, less than about 10 .mu.g/cm.sup.2 oil is left as residue on the product. ##STR1## where a and b are an integer from one to six; x and y are an integer from 0 to 30; R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are an alkyl group, cycloalkyl group, alkylphenyl group, benzyl group or alkylbenzyl group having from one to thirty carbon atoms and straight or branched alkyl chains.

  • Patent number: 5741589
Abstract: A woody group material and cement are combined to form a construction material. The material has an aggregate of finely split pieces formed by splitting wood, bamboo or the like in a fiber direction. The split pieces are formed in one or more layers and are surrounded by, and buried in, a mortar. A construction material can be provided which is fire resistant and has a strength comparable to a lumbered product such as wood material obtained by cutting raw wood. The finely split pieces of wood, bamboo or the like are very strong and tough because they closely adhere to the mortar. Moreover, it is possible to use a fiber structure of raw material. Since the finely split pieces can use a small diameter wood, lumbering byproducts, and other waste material, it is possible to achieve effective use of forest resources and low manufacturing costs.

  • Patent number: 5650210
Abstract: A method and structure are provided for joining structural wood members. A plurality of slits is formed in the end portions of members to be joined, and the end portions are brought into proximity with slits in alignment. The members are temporarily fixed in the desired orientation and adhesive is applied into the slits. Connecting plates are coated with the adhesive, inserted into the aligned slits and the adhesive is hardened.

  • Patent number: 5505238
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for manufacturing a composite wood product from split and disrupted pieces of a raw material such as cedar, willow or bamboo. The composite may be employed as a thick plate of wood, pillar wood, beam wood and the like used for furniture, buildings, and structural objects. The composite is formed by roughly splitting and disrupting a fibrous raw material lengthwise. The roughly split and disrupted material is then finely split and disrupted, and then dried. A single layer is formed by laterally arranging and adhering the finely split and disrupted wood pieces. The single layers are then formed into a pile and heated and pressure tightened.

  • Patent number: 5377732
Abstract: A technique is provided for joining wood members. A plurality of slits are formed on the end portions of wood pieces desired to be joined, and the end portions are abutted with corresponding slits in alignment to form a common surface. Each of the abutted wood end portions is fixed by temporary fixing means to a desired joining state. Thereafter, an adhesive agent is applied into the interior surfaces of the slits. Connecting plates, e.g., made of a reinforced plastic material coated with the adhesive agent, are inserted into the aligned slits. The adhesive agent is then hardened.

  • Patent number: 4321009
Abstract: A runner liner of fluid machine which can be attached and detached to and from the runner of the fluid machine without necessitating the disassembling of the latter. The runner liner can be fitted to a groove which is formed in the periphery of the runner, and is divided into a plurality of segments each of which being so sized that it can be brought into the runner chamber through anyone of the fluid passages coming into and out of the runner chamber. The attaching of the runner liner to the periphery of the runner is made by making use of pockets formed in the head cover and the bottom cover which in combination define the runner chamber.
