  • Publication number: 20160154911
Abstract: The common plant model offers the possibility to create a mechanism that allows an easier linking of plant items from an engineering aspect being independent of the system, such as MES, SCADA, DCS, ERP, the engineer is working with. The common plant model includes: a node type model aggregating different aspects for the modeling of a single physical plant item; a number of nodes; a library model with a project library and a global library; and a wiring chart model defining the interaction between interface members of different facets. Each facet has at least one interface member and the logical link among the interface members is a virtual wire defining a connection used to propagate and align facet parameters linked to a specific node. The wiring chart is usable by different users. The SCADA and DCS systems have access to the distinct modeling of their individual needs.

  • Publication number: 20160154910
Abstract: A common plant model for the MES, SCADA and DCS systems of a production facility benefits from an integration architecture that enables a stringent and persistent modeling of the physical resources of a production facility. The common plant model for modeling of physical plant items within a manufacturing execution system having an engineering environment and a runtime environment, contains: a node type model aggregating different aspects for the modeling of a physical plant item containing public interface parameters and automation parameters; a number of nodes, each representing an instance of one distinct node type; a library model containing a project library and a global library, the libraries containing the node type model, a facet model, a rule model and a hierarchy model; a wiring chart model defining the interaction between interface members of different facets of a node; and a graph model representing physical and/or logical connections between the nodes.

  • Patent number: 8316222
Abstract: In an industrial automation system comprising a plurality of industrial control devices connected to an industrial communication network, control and/or supervision functions of the industrial automation system are provided by services implemented by computer-based objects in industrial control devices. A computer-based object is assigned a first qualifier enabling the computer-based object to be accessed and/or modified during configuration of the respective service and/or a second qualifier enabling the computer-based object to be accessed and/or modified during runtime of the respective service. Upon a request for access to a computer-based object by a service consumer, the service consumer's operational state is determined. Depending on a set first and/or second qualifier of a computer-based object and depending on a determined operational state of a service consumer, access to the computer-based object is granted to the service consumer.

  • Patent number: 8095619
Abstract: An automation system with a plurality of communicatively connected automation devices is disclosed. One of the connected automations devices serves as a domain controller and holds centrally in a memory data required for operation for the automation system and the automation devices. Hitherto frequently occurring multiple storage of such data is eliminated, the data is available at a central location for access by all the automation devices, and the domain controller, as a central data server, ensures consistency of the data administered and provided by it, which also permits access optimizations, such as e.g. device-, access- or structure-dependent temporary storage strategies.
