  • Publication number: 20040221837
Abstract: A method for operating an internal combustion engine, simplifying a direct start after an engine shutdown. A compressor is provided for compressing the fresh air supplied to an internal combustion engine of the internal combustion engine. The compressor is activated to fill at least one cylinder when the combustion engine is coasting, this cylinder coming to a standstill in a position suitable for a subsequent direct start.

  • Publication number: 20040221828
Abstract: A method and a device for starting an engine system, especially of a vehicle, which make possible a start of the engine system that is as quick and comfortable as possible. In this context, it is tested for a start request whether a starter-free starting method leads to a successful start of the engine system. For the case in which the test result is negative, the engine system is started automatically using a starter.

  • Publication number: 20040216704
Abstract: A method for operating a combustion engine (10) with a variable compression ratio includes the following steps: determining a theoretical value for the compression ratio; adjusting the compression ratio to the theoretical value; and correcting the adjusted compression ratio as a function of signals of a sensor mechanism of the combustion engine (10). The step of correcting includes the step of determining an actual value of the compression ratio. In addition, a device for performing the method is proposed.

  • Publication number: 20040211248
Abstract: In an internal combustion engine the device for determining an absolute rotary angle of a crankshaft, a component which is in operative connection with a camshaft has a plurality of markings, and the cost reduction is retained in that at least one sensor is arranged at the component and can determine the rotary direction of the camshaft.

  • Publication number: 20040193361
Abstract: A method of operating an internal combustion engine in which fuel is combusted during a working stroke in at least one combustion chamber includes determining by a pressure sensor a gas pressure acting in the combustion chamber during the working stroke, monitoring a plausibility of a measuring variable obtained from a signal of the pressure sensor, determining, of a plurality of actual operational variables of the internal combustion engine which are not based on the signal of the pressure sensor, a reference variable corresponding to the measuring variable, comparing the measuring variable with the reference variable, and by this comparison checking the plausibility of the signal of the pressure sensor and the measuring variable obtained from it; and also a computer program, an electrical storage medium, and a control and/or regulating device for carrying out the method are provided.

  • Publication number: 20030196630
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for detecting the end of a start operation in an internal combustion engine (1) of a motor vehicle make it possible to distinguish the start operation from a steady-state condition of the engine (1) even for starters having a high starter rpm. At least one operating variable of the engine is determined which is different from the rpm thereof. The at least one operating variable is compared to a pregiven threshold value. The end of the start operation is detected when the at least one operating variable reaches or exceeds the threshold value.

  • Patent number: 5510989
Abstract: A system for influencing the travel dynamics of an automobile includes at least two sensor units (S1, S2, S3) for capturing the movements of the vehicle. First evaluation units (A1) evaluate the signals of the sensor units, these first evaluation units being spatially combined with the aforementioned sensor units to a sensor module (10). Connected with the first evaluation units by linkage mans (11), second evaluation units (A21, A22, A23, A24) process the signals processed in the first evaluation units, dependent on a regulation and/or control objective, to activation signals for actuators which influence the vehicle movements.
