  • Publication number: 20150180547
Abstract: A user can initiate the transmission of data on a mobile device by making physical contact with another device. The physical contact can be any type of physical touch that is referred to as a “tap” or “tapping.” When a tap is detected by a device, the device may initiate near field communication (NFC) with the other tapping device. NFC may be used to communicate data between the two devices, or NFC may be used to exchange sufficient information to allow the devices to establish a communication channel via another communication link. In some embodiments, an NFC-enabled mobile device can be used to gather group data relating to users having mobile devices that are within NFC range of one another and which initiate the aggregation of group data by the tapping of three or more devices.

  • Patent number: 8994683
Abstract: A digital display device having two or more displays that are coupled at angles to each other for displaying content associated with multiple sets of sources of content is described herein. Each display has one or more display regions in which content is displayed. A first display region on one display may be merged with a second display region on the same or a different display to form a merged display region in which content is displayed. The displays may be touch-sensitive. Display regions may be merged by, for example, receiving a first touch from a user of a first touch-sensitive display region and a second touch of a second touch-sensitive display region. In some embodiments, the digital display device has the form of a cube with six displays.

  • Publication number: 20150081433
Abstract: A disclosed method stores identities of a plurality of products offered for sale in a product database. Each identity is correlated to historical information detailing consumers' interest in the product. The method also receives a shopping request signal from an electronic computing device operated by a first consumer shopping for at least one of the products offered for sale. The method further maintains a shopping cart for the first consumer such that one or more of the products offered for sale can be cataloged for the first consumer until purchase. Additionally, the method may transmit a product promotion signal to the electronic computing device over a network. The product promotion signal contains data associated with a first product. The method also selects the first product for inclusion in the promotion signal in response to the historical information stored in the product database.

The method includes the step of receiving, with a processing device of a guidance server, a series of guidance request signals from an electronic computing device operated by a consumer shopping in a retail store. Each guidance request signal contains an alphanumeric character. The method also includes the step of determining, with the processing device, at least one location within the retail store in response to the alphanumeric characters contained in any already-received guidance request signals after each of the series of guidance request signals is received. The method also includes the step of transmitting, with the processing device, a series of guidance response signals to the electronic computing device in response to the determination of the at least one location. Each of the series of guidance response signal contains data indicative of the determined location within the retail store.

  • Publication number: 20150006324
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for providing shopping information for a plurality of contacts of a social network of a user to a computing device corresponding to the user includes receiving a request from the computing device to provide shopping information for one or more contacts of the social network. The shopping information relates to one or more items offered for sale by a retailer indicative of a shopping action performed and explicitly shared by the one or more contacts. The shopping information is obtained based on the request and shopping display data is generated based on the obtained shopping information. The shopping display data is prompted to the computing device. The shopping display data prompts the computing device to display the shopping information in a graphical user interface of the computing device.
