  • Publication number: 20210252166
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure pertain to methods of opening a lipid bilayer by associating the lipid bilayer with a molecule that includes a moving component capable of moving (e.g., rotating) in response to an external stimulus; and exposing the molecule to an external stimulus before, during or after associating the molecule with the lipid bilayer. The exposing causes the moving component of the molecule to move and thereby open the lipid bilayer (e.g., by pore formation). The external stimuli may include an energy source, such as ultraviolet light. The opened lipid bilayer may be a component of cell membranes in vitro or in vivo. The opening of the lipid bilayer may allow for the passage of various materials (e.g., active agents, such as peptide-based drugs) through the lipid bilayer and into cells. Additional embodiments of the present disclosure pertain to the aforementioned molecules for opening lipid bilayers.

  • Publication number: 20210083461
Abstract: Apparatus and methods pertaining to moving a train rig between locations associated with corresponding different wellsites. Equipment carried by the train rig is operable in conjunction with forming wells each extending beneath a corresponding one of the wellsites. An adjustable swing arm mechanically and electrically connected to the train rig comprises a medium-voltage (MV) cable. The adjustable swing arm extends from the train rig to connect the MV cable to one of a plurality of MV electrical hubs each electrically connected to a remote MV electrical power source via, at least, MV electrical lines suspended above the wellsites. A piece of equipment carried by the train rig is energized by MV electrical power delivered via the adjustable swing arm, and then operated in conjunction with the subterranean well formation.

  • Publication number: 20200285962
Abstract: A system and computer-implemented method are provided for enabling control of a physical system based on a state of the physical system which is inferred from sensor data. The system and method may iteratively infer the state by, in an iteration, obtaining an initial inference of the state using a mathematical model representing a prior knowledge-based modelling of the state, and by applying a learned model to the initial inference of the state and the sensor measurement, wherein the learned model has been learned to minimize an error between initial inferences provided by the mathematical model and a ground truth and to provide a correction value as output for correcting the initial inference of the state of the mathematical model. Output data may be provided to an output device to enable control of the physical system based on the inferred state.

  • Patent number: 9776386
Abstract: An efficient method for manufacturing a partially cured composite component intended to be joined with other component or components to form a composite structure and a manufacturing method of the composite structure. The partial curing of a composite layup is achieved using a mold comprising heat conductive elements and insulating elements and applying heat and pressure over the mold. The heat conductive elements are used to transmit or dissipate heat to/from the composite layup. The insulating elements are used to prevent the transmission or dissipation of heat to/from the composite layup.

  • Publication number: 20160318214
Abstract: Method for manufacturing composite parts, wherein at least a first composite part is joined to a second composite part, including providing the first composite part preform into a resin transfer mold, heating the first part into the resing transfer mold for performing a curing cycle of the first part, cooling the first part before the curing cycle is completed so that a semi-cured first part is obtained, and joining the semi-cured first part to a cured prepreg second part for obtaining the final composite part.

  • Patent number: 9109703
Abstract: A seal backup ring is provided with undulating surfaces which create circumferential convergence with a relatively rotatable surface. The backup ring is configured so that differential pressure acting across a rotary seal forces portions of the backup ring against the relatively rotatable surface, closing, or substantially closing, the extrusion gap that the rotary seal is exposed to. In response to relative rotation between the backup ring and the mating relatively rotatable surface, the circumferential convergence promotes hydrodynamic lubrication within the dynamic interface that exists between the backup ring and the relatively rotatable surface. The modulus of elasticity of the backup ring is greater than the modulus of elasticity of the rotary seal.

  • Publication number: 20140095133
Abstract: A system includes an interface configured to receive one or more images from an inspection of a component of a mechanical system. Each of the one or more images includes corresponding annotations that at least define one or more dimensions of the component or damages observed in the component. The system also includes a processor configured to construct a degradation model for the component based, at least in part, on the one or more images and their corresponding annotations received by the interface. The processor is further configured to determine one or more maintenance recommendations for the component based, at least in part, on the degradation model constructed for the component.

  • Publication number: 20130340707
Abstract: The invention relates to a rotary heat engine that consists of a hollow stator, the inner surface of which has a series of opposite deformations, and also has a cylindrical rotor on the perimeter of which are opposite recesses, defining at least two quadrants or sections that define expansion and expulsion chambers and other admission and compression chambers, wherein each section surface of the rotor has two grooves along which blades slide, by means of bearings that run through guides in the covers of the engine, such that it results in an engine that produces several expansions per revolution, thus managing to perform nearly all the work of the expansions in each cycle, improving the performance of alternate cylinder engines, including the famous Wankel rotary engine.
