  • Publication number: 20200192926
Abstract: Transient computing clusters can be temporarily provisioned in cloud-based infrastructure to run data processing tasks. Such tasks may be run by services operating in the clusters that consume and produce data including operational metadata. Techniques are introduced for tracking data lineage across multiple clusters, including transient computing clusters, based on the operational metadata. In some embodiments, operational metadata is extracted from the transient computing clusters and aggregated at a metadata system for analysis. Based on the analysis of the metadata, operations can be summarized at a cluster level even if the transient computing cluster no longer exists. Further relationships between workflows, such as dependencies or redundancies, can be identified and utilized to optimize the provisioning of computing clusters and tasks performed by the computing clusters.

  • Publication number: 20200151570
Abstract: An architecture for training the weights of artificial neural networks provides a global constrainer modifying the neuron weights in each iteration not only by the back-propagated error but also by a global constraint constraining these weights based on the value of all weights at that iteration. The ability to accommodate a global constraint is made practical by using a constrained gradient descent which approximates the error gradient deduced in the training as a plane, offsetting the increased complexity of the global constraint.

  • Publication number: 20200065136
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for inferring design-time information based on run-time artifacts generated by services operating in a distributed computing cluster. In an embodiment, a metadata system extracts metadata including run-time artifacts generated by services in a distributed computing cluster while processing a workflow including multiple jobs. The extracted metadata is processed to identify entities and entity relationships which can then be used to generate lineage information. Using the lineage information, the metadata system can infer design-time information associated with the workflow. The inferred design-time information can then be utilized to, for example, recreate the workflow, recreate previous versions of the workflow, optimize the workflow, etc.

  • Publication number: 20200065648
Abstract: A neural net processor provides twin processing paths trainable using different moments of the input data, one moment providing a proxy for uncertainty. • Publication number: 20190150400
Abstract: An apparatus for facilitating animal or vehicle movement between different surface elevations includes multiple floor panel members, including a first floor panel member and a last floor panel member. Each of the floor panel members are slidably attached to an adjacent one of the floor panel members. The floor panel members, when extended, form a ramp having a length which is variable, the floor panel members being adapted to nest within one another when retracted. The apparatus further includes a housing configured to enclose the floor panel members when retracted. The last floor panel member is coupled to the housing in a manner which enables the ramp to be slidably removed from the housing without having the ramp disengage from the housing. The housing includes a front panel removably attached to the housing for securing the floor panel members within the housing when the ramp is retracted.

  • Publication number: 20180113990
Abstract: A method of improving data sets, for example, of patients, each being characterized by relatively low-cost medical data, identifies those patients where the acquisition of higher cost medical data would best inform an estimate of the higher cost medical data for the remaining patients. In this way scarce medical resources can be more efficiently applied in characterizing a potential patient pool, for example, for a clinical trial when resources are not available for extensive medical characterization of each trial participant.

Abstract: The techniques described herein provide for comparison of tree structures. In some examples, a system according to this disclosure may receive at least a first item including a first tree structure and a second item including a second tree structure. The system may compare the first item and the second item. In particular, in performing the comparison, the system may detect a sub-tree structure type in the first tree structure and in the second tree structure. In some examples, the sub-tree structure type is one of one or more sub-tree structure types that have corresponding matching processes. Once determined, the system described herein may perform the corresponding matching process of the detected sub-tree structure type for the first tree structure and the second tree structure.
