  • Publication number: 20220272750
Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to performing contention credit-based listen-before-talk (LBT) for communications over a shared radio frequency band (e.g., in a shared spectrum or in an unlicensed spectrum) are provided. A wireless communication device performs a first clear channel assessment (CCA) including a first countdown. The wireless communication device transmits, after a gap period from the first countdown, a first communication signal. The wireless communication device performs a second CCA including a second countdown. The wireless communication device transmits, beginning before an end of the second countdown, a second communication signal based on at least a first contention credit associated with the gap period.

  • Publication number: 20220272548
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, wireless devices operating in an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band may perform directional listen-before-talk (LBT) procedures to gain access to a channel. In a beam-shrinking scheme for directional LBT, a wireless device may start an LBT procedure using a first beam (e.g., a wide beam). If the clear channel assessment (CCA) fails for the first beam (e.g., due to directional interference), the device may switch the LBT procedure to a second beam (e.g., a narrower beam). Depending on the direction of the interference source, the second beam may result in a successful LBT procedure. In a beam sweeping scheme for directional LBT, a wireless device may perform concurrent LBT over multiple narrow beams. If any beam of the set of beams detects frequent or continuous interference, the device may drop that beam from the concurrent LBT procedure.

  • Patent number: 11412527
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems implementing beamforming, a neighboring base station may cause interference to a user equipment (UE) served by a different base station. To mitigate unexpected interference, an interference coordination region including time and frequency resources may be configured between the base stations. The interference coordination region may be configured based on long-term information for the base stations and may include one or both of a set of beam-avoidance sub-regions or a set of beam-preference sub-regions for a base station, where each sub-region is associated with a beam index. A base station may schedule a communication beam in the interference coordination region based on a beam-avoidance region (e.g., refraining from using a particular communication beam) or a beam-preference region (e.g., prioritizing a particular communication beam).

  • Patent number: 11412464
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for adjusting transmit powers for concurrent uplink transmissions from a user equipment (UE) to multiple transmission reception points (TRPs), or dropping one or more uplink transmissions to one or more TRPs, based on one or more parameters. A UE may identify that a combined transmission power for concurrent uplink transmissions exceeds a power threshold of the UE, and may adjust a power for one or more of the concurrent uplink transmissions, or drop one or more of the uplink transmissions based on such an identification. If a difference in transmit powers of the concurrent uplink transmissions exceeds a power difference threshold, the UE may drop one or more lower priority transmissions. The UE may multiplex at least a portion of a dropped transmission with another uplink transmission that will be transmitted, such as by rate-matching or puncturing.

  • Patent number: 11405152
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a first transmit receive point in a multi-TRP configuration, a downlink control information (DCI) communication. The UE may identify one or more quasi-co-location (QCL) relationships associated with a control resource set (CORESET) or a search space set in which the DCI communication is received. A QCL relationship, of the one or more QCL relationships, is associated with one or more physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) layers that are transmitted from a second TRP in the multi-TRP configuration. Numerous other aspects are provided.

  • Patent number: 11405926
Abstract: Aspects are provided that allow a base station to use visual information of interfering UEs for optimizing shared channel access and beam and interference management and tracking. The base station may obtain visual information of a UE. The base station may then access a shared channel to communicate with the UE based on the visual information. After accessing the shared channel, the base station may communicate with the UE over the shared channel using one or more beams based on the visual information. Efficient channel access and communication in mmW environments may thereby be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20220232633
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses for sharing a user equipment (UE)-initiated channel occupancy time (COT) with a base station (BS) by transmitting receiver-side assistance information on an uplink shared channel of an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band. Multiple uplink transmit opportunities may be indicated to the UE send the receiver-side assistance information. In some examples, the uplink transmit opportunities may be configured grant occasions for a configured grant or scheduled by downlink control information. By transmitting to the BS, the UE may share the COT with the BS, and the BS may send downlink data to the UE during the COT.

  • Patent number: 11395154
Abstract: For unlicensed high-frequency bands such as mmW bands as used in 5G NR communications, either by regulation or for coexistence with licensed frequency bands, there may be a need for a contention-based access procedure such as the LBT procedure. A challenge is to find a suitable sensing beam to functions as a proxy for a set of transmission beams. In an aspect of the disclosure, a method and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus is configured to determine a set of transmission beams for a transmission opportunity, determine a sensing beam for the set of transmission beams based on a set of beam sensing criteria; and initiate an LBT procedure by sensing an energy on the determined sensing beam. The apparatus may then use the LBT procedure to obtain the access to and transmit data on the determined set of transmission beams.

  • Patent number: 11297613
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently identifying a receive beam for performing a listen before talk (LBT) procedure in an attempt to gain access to a transmission opportunity (TxOP) in a shared radio frequency spectrum. In particular, a wireless device may select a receive beam that corresponds to one or more transmit beams to be used in a TxOP to perform an LBT procedure in an attempt to gain access to the TxOP. In one example, the wireless device may select a receive beam for performing an LBT procedure based on the energy of each of the transmit beams to be used in a TxOP. In another example, the wireless device may select a receive beam for performing an LBT procedure if the receive beam is quasi co-located with each of the transmit beams to be used in a TxOP.
