  • Publication number: 20160086461
Abstract: A surveillance camera system having a specialized camera assembly with a fixed-angle lens is provided in a housing designed to reduce the size and weight of the camera assembly and reduce the identifiability of the system as a surveillance camera. The camera assembly can include an integrated ball joint assembly to support the camera assembly at arbitrary angles. The ball joint can further provide a standard threaded mating component to secure the camera assembly. The surveillance camera system can employ a recessed housing partially shrouding the camera assembly in a ceiling installation and further reducing the observability of the camera assembly without obstructing the camera lens. Installed in the recessed housing with an integrated ball joint, the camera assembly retains pan and tilt adjustments common to current recessed dome surveillance cameras. The camera assembly supports attachment of a customizable front cover further obscuring the camera assembly.

  • Patent number: 9129654
Abstract: A system including a first first-in first-out (FIFO) module, a control module, and a second FIFO module. The first FIFO module is configured to receive, from a host, (i) a first block and (ii) a first logical block address corresponding to the first block, where the first block includes first data. The control module is configured to generate a second block, where the second block includes (i) the first data and (ii) the first logical block address. The second FIFO module is configured to receive a third block from the first FIFO module, where the third block includes a second logical block address, and to determine whether the third block is different than the first block depending on whether the second logical block address included in the third block is different than the first logical block address included in the second block.

  • Patent number: 9007711
Abstract: The present disclosure describes apparatuses and techniques of improved sequential-access of storage media. In some aspects an indication that a storage media interface failed to access a block of storage media is received during a sequential-access of the storage media and the storage media interface is caused to attempt to read a next block of the sequential-access subsequent the sector failed to be accessed during the same sequential-access.

  • Publication number: 20150071547
Abstract: Systems and methods for improving automatic selection of keeper images from a commonly captured set of images are described. A combination of image type identification and image quality metrics may be used to identify one or more images in the set as keeper images. Image type identification may be used to categorize the captured images into, for example, three or more categories. The categories may include portrait, action, or “other.” Depending on the category identified, the images may be analyzed differently to identify keeper images. For portrait images, an operation may be used to identify the best set of faces. For action images, the set may be divided into sections such that keeper images selected from each section tell the story of the action. For the “other” category, the images may be analyzed such that those having higher quality metrics for an identified region of interest are selected.

  • Patent number: 8947810
Abstract: Techniques are provided for performing bit-locked operations on media. A first control signal is received from a first source, and a second control signal is generated at a second source in response to receiving the first control signal. The media is accessed according to the second control signal. One or more synchronization markers are located during the accessing of the media, and bit-level synchronization between the second source and the media is achieved based, at least partially, on the one or more synchronization markers. A control operation is performed on the media with bit-level synchrony between the second source and the media.

  • Patent number: 8817400
Abstract: A data storage device includes a storage medium on which data is stored in overlapping tracks, and a medium controller that directs storage of data on, and reading of data from, the storage medium, including encoding data being stored and decoding data being read. The decoding includes, when reading a first track, cancelling interference from a second track that overlaps the first track. The data storage device also includes a host controller in communication with the medium controller. The host controller includes memory that stores data decoded, and data to be written, by the medium controller. Communication between the medium controller and the host controller includes signals derived from data on said first and second tracks for facilitating the cancelling. A method of operating a data storage device includes, when reading a first track, facilitating the cancelling by communicating signals derived from the data on the first and second tracks.

  • Patent number: 8727644
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention is a camera having a housing, a camera lens disposed at an end of the housing, a box camera mounting part provided on the housing to mount the camera in a box camera configuration, and a dome camera mounting part provided at a front end of the housing to mount the camera in a dome camera configuration. Providing the box and dome camera mounting parts on the housing of the camera enables mounting of the camera in box and dome camera configurations, and allows the user to delay the decision of choosing which configuration, thereby reducing the complexity of engineering design and installation. Furthermore, inclusion of both mounting parts facilitates purchasing and stocking only one configuration of camera, thereby simplifying management of the stocked parts and reducing costs.

  • Patent number: 8484537
Abstract: A system including a first buffer module, a first encoder module, a control module, and a second buffer module. The first buffer module receives (i) a first block and (ii) a first logical block address (LBA) for the first block from a host, where the first block includes first data. The first encoder module generates a first checksum based on (i) the first data and (ii) the first LBA. The control module generates a second block, where the second block includes (i) the first data, (ii) the first LBA, and (iii) the first checksum. The second buffer module receives a third block from the first buffer module, where the third block includes a second LBA. The second buffer module determines whether the third block is different than the first block depending on whether the second LBA in the third block is different than the first LBA in the second block.

  • Patent number: 8397120
Abstract: A method of error correction for a multicast message sent over a wireless network includes encoding a message into N data packets using a forward error correction code and multicasting at least L data packets of the N data packets over a wireless network to recipients. Recipients not receiving the at least L data packets send a reply to the sender. The sender then selects a second subset of X data packets from the N data packets, and multicasts the X data packets over the wireless network to the recipients.
