  • Patent number: 5526790
Abstract: In a fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine having a high-pressure pump supplying fuel from a low pressure fuel supply conduit connected to the pump to a common high pressure fuel supply conduit for the injectors of the internal combustion engine via a high-pressure conduit extending between the high pressure pump and the common fuel supply conduit, the high-pressure conduit includes a non-return valve which, at the same time, is operable electromagnetically so as to be capable of maintaining the non-return valve open beyond the high-pressure pump delivery stroke for the release of fuel from the common fuel supply conduit under the control of the pump plunger and for rapid pressure relief by keeping the non-return valve open beyond a point at which the plunger opens the low-pressure fuel supply conduit connected to the pump.

  • Patent number: 5433182
Abstract: In a fuel injection system for a multi-cylinder Diesel engine which is provided with magnetic valve-controlled fuel injection nozzles, and which has two fuel supply conduits (common rails) for two different groups of fuel injection nozzles and at least one high-pressure pump connected to the fuel supply conduits for delivering high-pressure fuel thereto, each fuel supply conduit includes a pressure sensor which is connected to means for shutting off the fuel supply to a fuel supply conduit when the sensor senses a pressure loss in that conduit so that the pressure can be maintained in the other fuel supply conduit and the engine can be operated on a limited basis by the cylinders supplied by the groups of injection nozzles supplied with fuel by the other fuel supply conduit.

  • Patent number: 5020229
Abstract: A method and device for measuring screw threads on tubes connecting sleeves or the like, by means of a measuring pin which is moved to measured surfaces in two mutually independent measuring directions offset by 90.degree. from each other. The two measuring directions are associated with a force direction effective as a resultant. The measuring pin further has an advance deflection in each of the two measuring directions which are annulled at the point contact of the measuring pin with the measured surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4911454
Abstract: A radial shaft sealing ring comprises a stiffening ring as well as a sealing lip and an annular seal which are integrally combined by radial connecting sections running through notches in the stiffening ring. The annular seal is mounted in recesses in the stiffening ring, which have an increasing depth radially toward the driving surface.

  • Patent number: 4840060
Abstract: A arrangement for determining the injection course in an internal combustion engine in which the injection development could not be used heretofore in practice as guide magnitude in the engine control because no stationary measuring sensors are available for the pressure in the injection valve and a through-flow measurement at the feed line to the injection valve is very inaccurate by reason of the occurrence of gas, respectively, vapor bubbles. According to the present invention, the pressure in the injection valve, respectively, the quantity or the flow of the occurring injection medium is derived by a computer from signals of measurement transmitters which determine the stroke of the closure element of the injection valve and the pressure in the feed line to the injection valve or the force with which the closure element of the injection valve abuts in its open end position at an abutment.

  • Patent number: 4719703
Abstract: For accurately determining the position of a measuring head 14, a multicoordinate measuring machine has an additional measuring device, which essentially is formed by a scanning head 19 having a measuring probe 20, and inserted in a beam 16. The position of a cross arm 6 in a distance A is determined by means of the measuring probe 20 and is passed on over an amplifier 22 to a computer 25 for control and display purposes. The coordinate measuring machine operates with only one length scale 5. The cross arm 6 is supported at its ends and without play on carriages 11 and 12, which can be moved in the X direction in guiding systems 3 and 4, which are arranged parallel to each other.

  • Patent number: 4443951
Abstract: An arrangement for the measuring and correction of the steering geometry of motor vehicles, in particular their alignment and camber angles, through the intermediary of mechanical components associated with each wheel of a wheel pair and which serves for the scanning of the actual value of the wheel angles, whereby the values determined in this manner are converted into electrical signals through the utilization of data pick-ups and are then displayed.

  • Patent number: 4271218
Abstract: In a pipe insulating jacket comprising a hollow cylinder made of a soft foamed material and an outer sleeve with abutting edges parallel to the axis of the pipe, the improvement wherein the outer sleeve is formed by a metal foil carrying a heat-softenable coating on its inside, the inside of the metal foil being bonded throughout to the surface of the soft foamed material and in proximity to the abutting edges being welded to itself along its upwardly bent edges. Advantageously the foam is closed-cell crosslinked polyethylene of a bulk density of about 30 kg/m.sup.3, the coating is unfoamed uncrosslinked polyethylene about 30.mu. thick, and the metal foil is an aluminum foil about 18.mu. thick carrying on its outside a foil of heat-softenable polyester about 5 to 20.mu. thick.
