  • Patent number: 6167677
Abstract: In a tubular bagging machine with two cross-sealing jaws 1, 2, which are movable toward one another and thereby cross-weld a foil tube, product that moves between the cross-sealing jaws 1, 2, interferes with the cross seam, and results in a leaky cross-seam of a tubular bag. In order to reliably recognize entrapped product 10, it is suggested to measure the performance resistance of the servomotor on the cross-sealing jaws 1, 2, which are moved by a servomotor drive 4, in order to determine product entrapment. The machine controller 8 can additionally receive from the drive 4 a value for the jaw position, which position value corresponds to a desired momentary jaw pressure. A product entrapment is determined from a high or measured performance resistance value from the desired value. A reliable product entrapment recognition is achieved through the use of the light-metal cross-sealing jaw.

  • Patent number: 5966909
Abstract: In a packaging machine 2 with a movable part 27, which can be moved toward a packaging 26 or a product to be packaged, and a carrier movable with the part 27 and connected to the part 27, the part 27 and/or the carrier consists of a magnesium alloy 28, for example Mg Ag3 Se2 Zr1 or Mg A19 Zn1. A magnesium alloy 28 has low mass, low moment of inertia, high capability to conduct heat, high heat capacity and good stiffness. It can also be used for heated, package-building elements, for example, a longitudinal sealing jaw 33 movable toward a foil tube 6, a cross-sealing jaw 16, 17 or a cutting knife 25. Relatively small forces are needed for moving a part 27 and/or a carrier 23 consisting of a magnesium alloy 28, which makes the packaging machine 2 less expensive to operate.

  • Patent number: 5832700
Abstract: The lower end 11 of a foil tube 6 rests in a vertical tubular bagging machine 1 without any mechanical tension from the remainder of the foil tube 6 on a scale 17. The scale 17 weighs the end 11 together with dosed product portion of a flowable product, which portion is fed into the end 11. The measured value of the scale is delivered to a volumetric dosing device 20. The dosing device 20 changes the mass of the dosed product portion dependent on measured values of the scale 17. The invention improves the packaging speed and the dosing exactness, in particular for dosed masses of less than 5 kg. of flowable product, for example powders.

  • Patent number: 5791126
Abstract: The welding jaws 7, 8 in a tubular bagging machine 1 for the creation of cross seams are driven by a drive 3 acting perpendicularly with respect to the foil-transporting direction 4 through a movable element 11. The jaw force (sealing force) is clearly increased through a lever 15 rotatable about a pivot point 17, and is precisely adapted to the requirements of a particle bagging operation. A drive with a small force, for example a linear motor 9, can be utilized in an economical manner in the tubular bagging machine of the invention. By providing a second drive, and connecting this drive to the lever (15), any desired motion path curves of the cross jaws and a continuous run sequence of the machine can be achieved. If the second drive stopped, then one has an intermittent tubular bagging machine.

  • Patent number: 4947618
Abstract: A device for the cross-welding and/or cross-cutting of sealable foil material having inserted therein at regular intervals a particularly bulky fill material. Swingably mounted sealing jaws are forcedly guided in closed cam guideways which are an inverted mirror image of one another and located on opposite sides of a plane of symmetry (E) such that they each clamp foil material therebetween at a location whereat no fill material is located and along the plane of symmetry. The sealing jaws then swing out and away from the foil material and travel to the next area which does not contain fill material. Forcedly guided compressing members are arranged to travel in front of the sealing jaws, which compressing members compress the foil material at least over the sealing area determined by the sealing-jaw width. The compressing members are cylindrical, for example in the form of circular rods, rollers, cage bars and the like, preferably spring loaded and are relatively movable with respect to the sealing jaws.

  • Patent number: 4885900
Abstract: A driving method and system for controlling the operating characteristics of a tubular-bag machine, in which a tubular bag is closed off at the bottom end so as to be fillable with packing material through a fill pipe. An intermittently moved thin foil tube is for this purpose guided vertically between transversely arranged, heated sealing jaws, the opening and closing of which being camcontrolled. The foil movement is adjusted to the opening and closing movement. The drive for effecting the foil movement and the drive for effecting the sealing, separating and welding device are driven by separate motors controlled independently from one another, and are adjusted to one another such that each angular-speed stage can be adjusted independently from the preceding or following stage to the demands of the work cycle at any time during the work cycle. The magnitude of the angular speed can be adjusted as well.

  • Patent number: 4750313
Abstract: A packaging machine for manufacturing filling and closing of bags. A foil tube (4) is pulled off continuously by means of unwinding belts (13) on a packaging machine contracted as a tubular bag-forming machine. Cross sealing seams are created by means of continuously moving cross sealing jaws. The cross sealing jaws are maintained in a horizontal position during their entire movement by being guided in guide grooves. The guide curves have straight curve pieces in the area of a sealing zone, which curve pieces extend parallel with respect to the unwinding direction of the foil tube (4). The packaging machine permits a high operating speed, since the cross sealing occurs simultaneously with the unwinding movement and the cross sealing jaws, are guided exactly in an optimum position with respect to the foil tube. (4). The machine can be operated such that the unwinding speed for the thin sheet material is only a little slower than the speed of the goods to be packaged at the end of the fill pipe.
