  • Patent number: 8320896
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems and methods that allow a mobile device to fully access unified communication services. In a particular embodiment, a mobile device receives a user input indicating a destination identifier for a call and processes the destination identifier to determine whether the destination identifier is associated with a unified communication service. If no, the mobile device connects the call. If yes, the mobile device generates and transfers a text message indicating that the mobile device is requesting the service to an intermediate communication system in a first carrier network. The intermediate system receives and processes the text message to determine a first portion of the service that is associated with the mobile device. The intermediate system initiates the call to the mobile device to connect the mobile device with a unified communication system via the intermediate system and provides the first portion of the service.

  • Patent number: 8160230
Abstract: A computer system receives a first message from an originating communication node indicating a telephone number for a user. The computer system processes the telephone number, number portability data, and user mobility data to identify a first route number for a home communication node and a second route number for a visited communication node currently serving the user. The computer system transfers a second message to the originating communication node indicating the first route number and the second route number. The call may be routed from the originating communication node to the visited communication node based on the second route number, but if the visited communication node is unable to complete the call, the call may be routed from the originating communication node to the home communication node based on the first route number.

  • Patent number: 8144859
Abstract: An IP system receives a call placed to an ENUM address. The IP system transfers a signaling message indicating the ENUM address to a processing system. For a call to a ported number, the processing system translates the ENUM address into the LRN for a communication node that serves the called party and returns the LRN to the IP system. The IP system routes the call based on the LRN.

  • Publication number: 20120023293
Abstract: A wireless communication device transfers instructions to a host device over a USB connection responsive to being connected to the host device over the USB connection. The instructions direct the host device to enumerate the wireless communication device as a USB MSC device. The wireless communication device wirelessly transfers a device identifier for the wireless communication device to a wireless communication network responsive to being connected to the host device over the USB connection. The wireless communication network processes the device identifier to limit communication service for the wireless communication device to communications with a particular data storage system.
