Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method for preparing coal-based, briquetted activated carbon. The method includes subjecting raw coal to a briquetting process, pulverizing the briquettes into particles, and performing carbonization and activation to obtain activated carbon. The briquetting process includes pulverizing raw coal to produce a feed, feeding the feed into a feed bin for degassing, adjusting the temperature and the water content of the feed in the feed bin, and feeding the feed in the feed bin into a briquetting apparatus for briquetting to form coal briquettes. The raw coal briquetting process of the preparation method is suited to a wide variety of coal, including non-caking coal. The preparation method yields a coal briquette product with a strength greater than 89% without any binder, which is beneficial to improve the strength and the like of activated carbon.

  • Publication number: 20180349790
Abstract: A technique for training a machine learning model can use time-series data sampled from a population. The training includes creating a training set comprising feature vectors and corresponding labels generated using the time-series data. In some embodiments, for example, the feature vectors can include time-based features generated from the time-series data that preserves time information contained in the time-series data. The labels can be generated using data within a fixed period of time in the time-series data relative to a cut-off date. In some embodiments, the data used to create the training set can use a moving window sampling of the population to account for seasonal effects in the time-series data, where the cut-off date for generating the label varies from one sample to the next.

  • Patent number: 10078594
Abstract: A computer manages a cache for a MapReduce application based on a distributed file system that includes one or more storage medium by receiving a map request and receiving parameters for processing the map request. The parameters include a total data size to be processed, a size of each data record, and a number of map requests executing simultaneously. The computer determines a cache size for processing the map request, wherein the cache size is determined based on the received parameters for processing the map request and a machine learning model for a map request cache size and reads, based on the determined cache size, data from the one or more storage medium of the distributed file system into the cache. The computer processes the map request and writes an intermediate result data of the map request processing into the cache, based on the determined cache size.

  • Publication number: 20180227240
Abstract: Technical solutions are described for optimizing operation of a server cluster. An example method includes receiving a job request that executes using a set of data blocks, the job request being associated with an expected completion time. The cluster server is used to identify a set of replica servers, wherein each server from the set of replica servers contains the set of data blocks. In response to each server from the set of replica servers estimating a completion time for the job request that is more than the expected completion time, a new server is initiated, the set of data blocks is relocated from a first server from the set of replica servers to the new server, and the job request is allocated to the new server.
