  • Patent number: 9931778
Abstract: A fiber reinforced polymer part is fabricated by rastering a deposition head over a substrate, and additively forming part features by extruding a polymer having an entrained continuous reinforcement from the deposition head onto a substrate.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 18, 2014
Date of Patent: April 3, 2018
    Assignee: THE BOEING COMPANY

  • Patent number: 9757218
Abstract: A comfortable way to daily remove inter-dental plaque would encourage dental hygiene and could improve health worldwide. The flossing by hand’ method is the most effect but its adoption is limited by the dexterity of the user especially among young and old people. Many efforts have been made to make flossing easier by extending floss from a device held outside the mouth, but most designs use a fixed, stretched, length of floss at the tooth. The method of use for these devices is dictated by the physical form of the device needed to mount the fixed stretched length of floss. But the goal of flossing devices is to emulate the ‘by hand’ method. This invention starts with the ‘by hand’ method and designs this device 1 to perform it. The “Loose Floss Method of Inter-dental Plaque Removal’ is strictly based on the ‘by hand’ method of flossing and provides a device 1 design exclusively to perform that method. closely without putting one's hands inside their mouth.

  • Publication number: 20170072638
Abstract: Sound damping structures and methods for additively manufacturing composite structures having sound damping properties. In some embodiments, sound damping structures may be manufactured according to methods that may include selecting a desired sound damping geometry, inputting a three-dimensional computer-aided design model of the geometry into an additive manufacturing machine, and additively manufacturing a three-dimensional sound damping structure corresponding to the computer-aided design model.

  • Publication number: 20160226756
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for the Transporting of Fibre Channel data over Ethernet are disclosed. In one embodiment of the invention, Fibre Channel data frame and primitive signals are transported over Ethernet instead of using the Fibre Channel FC-1 and FC-0 protocols. This allows less expensive Ethernet equipment and devices to transport and perform services for Fibre Channel connected devices without having a physical Fibre Channel interface. The ability to provide Fibre Channel services and functions without having a physical Fibre Channel interface allows existing Ethernet equipment to be placed into service as SAN components without modification.

  • Publication number: 20160189025
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for curating and disseminating a network model. A representation of a network model is provided, and data is received that is representative of user actions. The user actions are directed to at least one element of the network model. A score is assigned to each respective element based on a number of user actions received for the respective element. A verified subset of edges is identified that have assigned scores that exceed a verification threshold, and a rejected subset of edges is identified that have assigned scores that are below a rejection threshold. The verified subset of edges and the associated nodes are provided as a curated network model, which omits the rejected subset of edges.

  • Publication number: 20160065123
Abstract: A method for operating a photovoltaic module array includes identifying when an atmospheric temperature drops below a dew point. A photovoltaic module is then positioned such that a module face is oriented at a first position substantially parallel to a ground surface permitting dew to form on the module face, the dew mixing with dust present on the module face. An angular orientation of the photovoltaic module is changed after dew formation so the module face is oriented at a second position angled away from the first position facilitating the removal of the dew entrained with the dust to be removed from the module face, thereby cleaning the module face.

  • Publication number: 20150067796
Abstract: The present invention provides a mechanism to activate an original object (12S) so that statistical objects (14S) generated from the original object can be recognized using statistical object identification. An object activation agent (48) with a clock (47) and at least one original object (12S) communicates the original object (12S) and time from the clock (47) to an object activation service (50). The object activation service (50) provides and communicates keying information (61) and expiration criterion (63) for at least one of said original objects (12S) back to the object activation agent (48).

  • Publication number: 20130133045
Abstract: The present invention enables an enterprise to move from an implicitly trusted resource pool to an explicitly authenticated resource pool. Trust information is generally conveyed whenever a new resource is added to the pool and trust information is revoked when a resource is removed from the pool or is unable to provide its advertised resources. The dynamic, event driven conveyance of trust information is particularly important in highly virtualized environments where virtual resources are dynamically scaled up and down in response to resource demand.
