  • Publication number: 20120173225
Abstract: The present solution includes a real-time automated communication method. In the method, a real-time communication session can be established between a text exchange client and a speech application. A translation table can be identified that includes multiple entries, each entry including a text exchange item and a corresponding conversational translation item. A text exchange message can be received that was entered into a text exchange client. Content in the text exchange message that matches a text exchange item in the translation table can be substituted with a corresponding conversational item. The translated text exchange message can be sent as input to a voice server. Output from the voice server can be used by the speech application, which performs an automatic programmatic action based upon the output.

  • Patent number: 8189563
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, system and computer program product for deploying and delivering composite services in an NGN network. In one embodiment of the invention, a view coordination method for callers in a composite services enablement environment can include establishing for a single session, a first channel of access to a composite service providing a view to a first end point for the first channel of access associated with a first caller in a public switched telephone network (PSTN). The method further can include receiving a network address for second end point associated with a second caller in the PSTN telephonically coupled to the first caller over the PSTN. Responsive to receiving the network address, a second channel of access can be established to the composite service for the single session in order to provide the view to the second end point. Finally, changes of state can be synchronized for the view for each of the channels of access.

  • Patent number: 8086460
Abstract: The present invention discloses a speech-enabled application that includes two or more linked markup documents that together form a speech-enabled application served by a Web 2.0 server. The linked markup documents can conform to an ATOM PUBLISHING PROTOCOL (APP) based protocol. Additionally, the linked markup documents can include an entry collection of documents and a resource collection of documents. The resource collection can include at least one speech resource associated with a speech engine disposed in a speech processing system remotely located from the Web 2.0 server. The speech resource can add a speech processing capability to the speech-enabled application. In one embodiment, end-users of the speech-enabled application can be permitted to introspect, customize, replace, add, re-order, and remove at least a portion of the linked markup documents.

  • Patent number: 8074202
Abstract: The present invention discloses a software development system for WIKIs including a WIKI server, a BLOG server, and a data store. The WIKI server can serve WIKI pages to WIKI clients. The BLOG server can serve BLOGs to BLOG clients. The data store can manage WIKI BLOG entries. Each WIKI BLOG entry can include a link to one of the WIKI pages and metadata for the linked WIKI page. The metadata can include a WIKI page title, a WIKI page version, a WIKI page description, design notes, and other information. Searchable keywords can be generated from the metadata. • Publication number: 20110270613
Abstract: The disclosed solution includes a method for dynamically switching modalities based upon inferred conditions in a dialogue session involving a speech application. The method establishes a dialogue session between a user and the speech application. During the dialogue session, the user interacts using an original modality and a second modality. The speech application interacts using a speech modality only. A set of conditions indicative of interaction problems using the original modality can be inferred. Responsive to the inferring step, the original modality can be changed to the second modality. A modality transition to the second modality can be transparent the speech application and can occur without interrupting the dialogue session. The original modality and the second modality can be different modalities; one including a text exchange modality and another including a speech modality.

  • Patent number: 8041572
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method of performing speech processing operations based upon Web 2.0 type interfaces with speech engines. The method can include a step of interfacing with a Web 2.0 server from a standard browser. A speech-enabled application served by the Web 2.0 server can be accessed. The browser can render markup of the speech-enabled application. Speech input can be received from a user of the browser. A RESTful protocol, such as the ATOM Publishing Protocol (APP), can be utilized to access a remotely located speech engine. The speech engine can accept GET, PUT, POST, and DELETE commands. The speech processing engine can process the speech input and can provide results to the Web 2.0 server. The Web 2.0 server can perform a programmatic action based upon the provided results, which results in different content being presented in the browser.

  • Patent number: 8032379
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for creating Web 2.0 entries, such as WIKI entries. In the method, a voice communication channel can be established between a user and an automated response system. User speech input can be received over the voice communication channel. A Web 2.0 entry can be created based upon the speech input. The Web 2.0 entry can be saved in a data store accessible by a Web 2.0 server. The Web 2.0 server can serve the saved Web 2.0 entry to Web 2.0 clients. The Web 2.0 clients can include a graphical and/or a voice interface through which the Web 2.0 entry can be presented to users of the clients. The created Web 2.0 entries (e.g. Web 2.0 application) can be formatted in an ATOM PUBLISHING PROTOCOL compliant manner.

  • Patent number: 8027839
Abstract: The present solution includes an automated response method. The method can receive user interactions entered through a real-time text exchange interface. These user interactions with the speech application can be dynamically and automatically converted as necessary into a format consumable by a voice server. A text input API of a voice server can be used to allow the voice server to directly accept text input. Further, automated interactions can be received from the voice server, which are dynamically and automatically converted into a format accepted by the text exchange interface. The text exchange interface can be an off-the-shelf unmodified interface. The speech application can be a VoiceXML based application that lacks an inherent text exchange capability.

  • Patent number: 7921214
Abstract: The present solution includes a method for dynamically switching modalities in a dialogue session involving a voice server. In the method, a dialogue session can be established between a user and a speech application. During the dialogue session, the user can interact using an original modality, which is either a speech modality, a text exchange modality, or a multi mode modality that includes a text exchange modality. The speech application can interact using a speech modality. A modality switch trigger can be detected that changes the original modality to a different modality. The modality transition to the second modality can be transparent to the speech application. The speech application can be a standard VoiceXML based speech application that lacks an inherent text exchange capability.

  • Patent number: 7890594
Abstract: A method and system for testing voice applications, such as VoiceXML applications, is provided. The system provides a run-time simulation environment for voice applications that simulates and automates user interaction. A user simulation script is provided in a customized mark-up language. The voice application is processed to derive a nominal output of the voice application. The user simulation script is processed to generate a simulated output for the voice application corresponding to the nominal output. Conditional logic may be applied to the nominal output to generate a simulated input in response thereto. The user simulation script is specified in a customized mark-up language having a set of one or more conditional tags and an internal variable for the nominal output of the voice application.

  • Patent number: 7890635
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, system and computer program product for deploying and delivering composite services in an NGN network. In one embodiment, a method for selectively synchronizing content across different views of a composite service can be provided. The method can include establishing for a common session, multiple channels of access to a composite service and providing content to a view for one of the channels of access for synchronization across others of the channels of access to the common session. A set of user preferences can be consulted to determine whether synchronization of the content is permitted for individual ones of the channels of access to the common session. Subsequently, the content can be synchronized only to channels of access to the common session that are permitted by the set of user preferences.

  • Patent number: 7877486
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, system and computer program product for deploying and delivering composite services in an NGN network. A method for auto-establishing a voice channel of access to a session for a composite service can include establishing a visual channel of access to a session for a composite service. Responsive to detecting a user interface event in a view for the visual channel which is not related to the establishment of a new channel of access, a separate voice channel of access to the session can be auto-established for the composite service. For instance, the user interface event can include the loading of a page for the view, the receipt of focus for a form in the view, the receipt of focus for a field in a form in the view, or a keystroke or mouse event. Finally, the method can include synchronizing changes of state for the session in a view for each of the visual channel of access and the voice channel of access to the session for the composite service.
