  • Patent number: 5964333
Abstract: A slave cylinder for the operation of a friction clutch, especially in motor vehicles, with a housing, an inner portion, an annular or cylindrical piston which annular piston is positioned between the housing and the inner portion, a clutch release sleeve or clutch throwout sleeve or coupling socket joint which clutch release sleeve is in contact with the annular piston and can be axially displaced with respect to the housing, as well as a spring or pressure spring or compression spring which is supported by both the clutch release sleeve and the housing, and radial shoulders or steps or reliefs provided at the clutch release sleeve and at the housing to secure against torsion. The pressure spring may be characterized as a sinuous spring or zig-zag or no-sag spring. The ends of the pressure spring are positioned to make contact at the ends of the shoulders which shoulders act in the opposite direction to secure against torsion.

  • Patent number: 5937988
Abstract: A throttle device for the directionally-dependent influencing of the flow velocity of the fluid in hydraulic actuator systems, in particular of friction clutches in motor vehicles, with a throttle located between a master cylinder and a slave cylinder in the hydraulic system. The throttle is formed by a base body with at least one through hole, which through hole can be at least partly closed by a rubber-elastomer disc. The rubber-elastomeric disc is located on the side of the base body facing the slave cylinder, which disc radially overlaps a through hole, which through hole can be at least partly closed.

  • Patent number: 5908097
Abstract: A wear indicator for a friction clutch which is located in the drive train in a housing between an engine and a transmission. The wear indicator includes a marking which is stationary relative to the housing during operation of the friction clutch, and a marking which is movable during the engagement and/or disengagement movement of the clutch during operation. When observed in a pre-determined limit position, in particular when the clutch is engaged or released as far as possible, the two markings move closer to one another as clutch wear increases. A distance between the two markings which has been essentially reduced to zero indicates that the clutch has reached its maximum allowable wear. It thus becomes possible to easily and unambiguously check the wear of the clutch, even in situations were access to the clutch is difficult.

  • Patent number: 5860502
Abstract: A detachable plug-type connector, in particular for the connection of a pressure line to a hydraulic cylinder with a pin-shaped inner part, which pin-shaped inner part can be inserted in a boring of an outer part. Between the outer part and the inner part there is a seal. The seal sits in the boring of the outer part, and in front of the seal there is a securing element which limits the axial travel of the seal in the extraction direction.

  • Patent number: 5779019
Abstract: A cylinder for hydraulic systems, in particular for motor vehicles, generally includes a housing having an axial hole in which a piston is guided so that the piston can be displaced axially. One end surface of the piston can be pressurized by means of hydraulic fluid. The cylinder is provided with at least one connection designed as a plug-in connection, for the insertion of at least one pressure medium line having a radially expanded portion on its outside diameter. The plug-in connection of the cylinder is designed so that both the expense for components and for labor required to fasten the pressure medium line to the connection of the cylinder can be minimized.

  • Patent number: 5704462
Abstract: A cylinder for hydraulic systems, in particular for motor vehicles, includes a housing with an axial boring, in which a piston fastened to a piston rod is displaced axially in a guided manner, and one end surface of which is pressurized with hydraulic fluid, and which is guided in a sealed manner with respect to the housing. The cylinder is provided with connections for at least one pressure line, a connection to a fluid chamber and for fastening, and at least one lip seal, which lip seal is located in the housing to seal the housing with respect to the exterior surface of the piston. The piston and/or the piston rod, between the hydraulic fluid and the terminal area of the piston rod farther from the piston, is provided with a device for damping pressure surges from the hydraulic fluid. These cylinders are preferably used in hydraulically operated clutch assemblies for motor vehicles and alternatively for braking systems in motor vehicles.

  • Patent number: 5620076
Abstract: A hydraulically actuated clutch release system for a motor vehicle friction clutch, including a piston-cylinder unit oriented concentrically to a transmission input shaft, whereby the cylinder is fastened to the transmission housing, and has the cylinder chamber for the piston between an inner and an outer cylinder shell. The piston itself is guided inside a guide element surrounded by the outer cylinder shell. The outer cylinder shell, next to the guide element, has at least one retaining member which can be brought into contact with the guide element, and through which retaining member the guide element can be secured against participation in the movement of the piston during the engagement and release of the clutch. In this case, when there is a change in the axial position of the piston caused by wear in the friction clutch, the action of the retaining member can be suppressed for a displacement of the guide element.

  • Patent number: 5287951
Abstract: The invention relates to a hydraulically actuable releaser with an annular piston. The supporting ring co-operating with the annular piston and the groove sealing ring co-operating with the supporting ring have, at least in their radially outer region facing one another, an encircling supporting shoulder on the supporting ring and an encircling recess on the groove sealing ring. This measure prevents the groove sealing ring from being pressed into a possible gap between supporting ring and the external wall of the housing under pressure loading.

  • Patent number: 5211099
Abstract: A slave cylinder of the annular cylinder type is proposed, whereof the annular piston (45) able to slide axially between an outer cylinder wall (29) and an inner cylinder wall (33) is sealed by a grooved sealing ring (53) with respect to the pressure chamber (37). In order to be able to evacuate by means of a suction pump a hydraulic actuating system for a motor vehicle friction clutch, constructed using a slave cylinder of this type, before filling with hydraulic fluid, means are provided on the annular cylinder or in addition to the sealing lips (57) on the grooved sealing ring, which increase the sealing action of the sealing lips (57) when applying a vacuum to the hydraulic pressure chamber (37). The said means may be conical surfaces (61, 63) on the cylinder walls or a conical ring engaging in an annular groove (59) of the sealing ring (53). Additional sealing beads having a cross-sectional contour in the shape of a circular sector may be formed if necessary on the grooved sealing ring.

  • Patent number: 5062513
Abstract: The invention relates to the guidance of the hub (23) of a clutch disc (13) of a friction clutch (1), independently of the splining (27) of the gear shaft (29). The guidance of the clutch disc (13) takes place through a bearing (41) which supports itself for the one part on the hub (23) of the clutch disc (13) and for the other part on a component of the friction clutch (1). Due to this arrangement a satisfactory centering of the clutch disc (13) is guaranteed, the pilot bearing for the guidance of the gear shaft can be eliminated and the fitting of clutch and gear on the internal combustion engine is substantially facilitated.

  • Patent number: 4809830
Abstract: In a torque transmitting torsional vibration damper device for use in a torque transmission path of a motor vehicle between the engine and the gear box a central plate is provided. Two sides plates are provided on both sides of the central plate. The side plates are interconnected for common rotation. Each of the central plate and the side plates is provided with at least two circumferentially extending windows. Respective windows of the central plate and the side plates are aligned in axial direction. Each group of mutually aligned windows receives a pair of torque transmitting compressional springs arranged in series and spaced in circumferential direction. Said discs are provided between the central plate and the side plates. These sides discs are used for circumferential torque transmission between mutually adjacent ends of the compressional springs of each pair. The side discs are supported in radial direction only by engagement with the compressional springs.
