  • Patent number: 8880676
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for the planning of resources used in computing. Usage statistics regarding one or more virtual machine instances executing in a networked plurality of computing devices are obtained. The usage statistics are grouped, for example, based on one or more customer usage classifications, thereby producing one or more usage groups. A corresponding demand forecast is generated for each of the usage groups. A projected demand for one or more physical components of the networked computing devices is calculated according to the demand forecasts.

  • Patent number: 8748557
Abstract: The present invention relates to an extreme low formaldehyde emission UF resin with a novel structure, and a process for its preparation. This UF resin is produced from formaldehyde, urea, a long chain multi-aldehyde prepolymer, and some modifiers. Its process follows three steps: weak caustic, weak acid and weak caustic. By using this prepolymer, the modified UF resin has stable alkyl ether structure, and the residual aldehyde groups on the UF polymer chain could accelerate cross-linking instead of dissociative formaldehyde. The UF resin made from this invention has extreme low dissociative formaldehyde and simple technology. The boards produced from this resin have good physical performance and water resistance. Moreover, the formaldehyde emission of the boards is extreme low, achieving Japan F???? grade, the average emission value ?0.3 mg/L.

  • Patent number: 8620707
Abstract: Systems and methods systems and methods for allocating inventory in a fulfillment network are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method may include identifying orders fulfilled by a fulfillment center, where each of the identified orders specifies one or more of a plurality of items. The method may also include determining, for each identified order, a probability that the identified order will occur in the future and calculating, for each identified order, a cost savings. Items may then be selected based, at least in part, upon the determined probability and cost savings of each identified order. Additionally or alternatively, a method may include, for a selected item, receiving a customer demand forecast, determining a bind factor, and calculating a target inventory for the selected item to be stored in the fulfillment center based, at least in part, upon the customer demand forecast and the bind factor.

  • Patent number: 8402412
Abstract: An embodiment of an integrated circuit is disclosed. For this embodiment, the integrated circuit includes circuit blocks. At least one transistor of a circuit block of the circuit blocks includes a portion of a semiconductor substrate having a diffusion layer. The circuit block has a relatively high diffusion pattern density as compared with others of the circuit blocks. The diffusion layer has an exposed surface active area constrained responsive to a design rule. The design rule is to limit to a maximum amount the surface active area in order to improve at least one parameter of the at least one transistor selected from a group consisting of an increase in switching speed and a decrease in leakage current of the at least one transistor of the circuit block having the relatively high diffusion pattern density.

  • Patent number: 8396585
Abstract: A method and system for inventory placement according to expected item picking rates. In one embodiment, a method may include determining a respective expected picking rate for each of a number of inventory items, and dependent upon the expected picking rate, selecting a corresponding one of a number of zones of an inventory storage area for each of the items. The zones may be physically arranged within the inventory storage area such that a first, innermost zone is successively and at least partially surrounded by one or more other zones. The method may further include storing each of the items within the corresponding zones, such that the expected picking rates of members of a given group of items stored in a given zone are less than the expected picking rates of members of another group of items stored in a successive zone that at least partially surrounds the given zone.

Abstract: In various embodiments, approaches for the placement of inbound inventory in a materials handling facility are described. A product identifier is input from inbound inventory into a computer system, where the inbound inventory is to be stocked in a materials handling facility. At least one available inventory location is identified in the computer system that presents a lowest cost for storage of the inbound inventory in the materials handling facility. The inbound inventory is stocked in the at least one available inventory location contemporaneously with the determination of the at least one available inventory location in the computer system that presents the lowest cost for storage of the inbound inventory in the materials handling facility.
