  • Publication number: 20010019224
Abstract: A power controller for a vehicle can operate electrical load upon stopping of engine or turning OFF of a key switch, and lowering of remaining capacity of a main battery can be prevented. The control system has a control portion controlling operation of a power generator and an electrical load mounted on an automotive vehicle. The control system also includes remaining capacity measuring means for measuring a remaining capacity of a battery. The control portion drives a predetermined power load when an engine is stopped or a key switch is held OFF, and operation of the power load is stopped when a remaining capacity of the battery measured by the remaining capacity measuring means becomes smaller than a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 5930136
Abstract: In order to control an apparatus, such as a rolling mill, a control device may use a pre-set operation pattern to generate a pre-set command signal, which is then modified. That first modification may be part of a feedback loop in dependence on the variation of a variable operation device of the apparatus, on a plurality of pre-set signals may be combined by fuzzy logic. Then the relationship between the modified pre-set command signal and the variation of the variable operation device is investigated to generate a compensation signal which is used to modify further the pre-set command signal. In a feedback loop, that further modification may compensate for changes in the operating point of the loop, due to changes in the apparatus being controlled. In a fuzzy logic arrangement, the compensation signal may be a further control pattern developed by the control device itself, which is combined with the pre-set patterns by fuzzy logic. The control device may be in the form of a series of modules.

  • Patent number: 5841946
Abstract: A chaotic character evaluating apparatus includes a processor for predicting future variation in sequential data and a processing for determining a degree of accuracy of the prediction, a processor for predicting variation of the sequential data in reverse and a processor for determining a degree of accuracy of the prediction, and a processing for comparing the degrees of accuracy with each other. If the degrees of the accuracy differ from each other, the variation of the sequential data is determined to be attributable to chaos, while when the degrees of accuracy are substantially equal to each other, the variation in the sequential data is determined to be attributable to noise. Further, a control apparatus for generating a control value from a feedback signal output from an object under control and having chaotic components eliminated is realized. Thus, it is possible to easily and accurately determine whether variation in the sequential data is attributable to chaos or noise.

  • Patent number: 5546503
Abstract: In a neural network having neurons connected in a multi-layer, firstly, input signal sets are sequentially entered to statistically process the outputs of hidden neurons and determine the optimum number of hidden neurons. Secondly, while changing the input signal entered to each input neuron to the maximum change limit, the change of output values of the other input neurons are checked to thereby determine an unnecessary input neuron. Thirdly, the weights between input neurons and hidden neurons are set to be in correspondence with a hyperplane to enable pattern recognition.

  • Patent number: 5530441
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for measuring traffic flows, or in other words the flows of vehicles, inside and near a crossing. The method and apparatus are capable of extracting vehicles with a high level of accuracy. Overlap of vehicles can be avoided by setting the field of a camera to exclude a range from the inflow portion to the vicinity of center of the crossing but to include a range from the center to the vicinity of the outflow portion of the crossing. Accordingly, accuracy of traffic flow measurement can be improved.

  • Patent number: 5510976
Abstract: A control system is for accelerating stabilization of a chaotic state of a controlled system into a desired periodic state. In the control system, the SOGY algorithm is extended to permit selection of a region on a chaotic attractor as a target, so that the SOGY algorithm can be successfully combined with the OGY algorithm for the purpose of stabilization of the controlled system in the periodic state. Also, the method of nonlinear prediction is introduced so as to secure the effectiveness of the SOGY algorithm. Further, an uncertainty of prediction is taken into consideration so as to eliminate unnecessary control and to improve the effectiveness of the SOGY algorithm.

  • Patent number: 5430642
Abstract: In order to control an apparatus, such as a rolling mill, a control device may use a pre-set operation pattern to generate a preset command signal, which is then modified.
