Publication number: 20040041046Abstract: A first side cover of a dual bearing reel is fastened by threadedly coupling screws from the inner side of a first side plate to a plurality of cylindrical portions that are attached to the inner surface of the first side cover. Alumite is formed on the aluminum alloy-made first side cover. A fine triazine thiol powder is diffused on the inner surface of the first side cover by an electrodeposition plating process such that an electrodeposition layer is formed thereon. The cylindrical portions are attached to the inner surface of the first side cover by inserting at least a portion of the first side cover into a die and outsert or insert-molding the cylindrical portions to the electrodeposition layer. It is possible to control increases in the cost of a decorative member, control the exposure of attachment portions, and provide an expensive appearance to the decorative member.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 8, 2003Publication date: March 4, 2004Applicant: SHIMANO, INC.Inventor: Yasushi Nishimura

Publication number: 20020150774Abstract: Parts inexpensively coated that yet are difficult to mar. The reel body 1 of a double bearing reel is given as an example of a part superficially coated in accordance with the invention. It includes a metallic base portion 10, an oxide film layer 11, a substrate paint film layer 12, and a finishing paint film layer 13. The finishing paint film layer 13 is formed by the application of a self-mending paint material. Forming the paint film layer on the surface of the reel body 1 by applying a self-mending paint material by the self-mending function of the paint material thus restores scratched portions if the surface is damaged due to scratching or the like. Therefore, scratches due to injuries tend not to remain on the coated part and as a result, scratches are unlikely to damage the surface of the body of the part. Moreover, forming the layer by applying a paint material facilitates low cost production.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 31, 2002Publication date: October 17, 2002Inventors: Yasushi Nishimura, Yasunori Hosoya, Tomoharu Sakurai, Chiyo Nishiku

Patent number: 6399218Abstract: Mechanical assembly of magnesium alloy with steel or titanium/titanium alloy parts. Because the two major metal parts in the assembly have incompatible ionization energies, a part made from aluminum or zinc alloy, the ionization energy of which in intermediary between the two, or an electric insulator intervenes to prevent electrolytic corrosion between them. Furthermore, clearances between the two major metal parts, owing for example to manufacturing tolerances, are injected with filler. The mechanical assembly may be employed in human-powered rotary machines such as spinning reels and bicycle components.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2001Date of Patent: June 4, 2002Assignee: Shimano Inc.Inventors: Yasuhiro Hitomi, Ken'ichi Kawasaki, Yasushi Nishimura

Publication number: 20020046310Abstract: The present invention provides a system capable of individually controlling each of receiving devices while making full use of the advantages of broadcasting. Simultaneous transmission is carried out from a broadcasting device 2 to a plurality of receiving devices 6 via a broadcasting path. Further, the broadcasting device 2 sends operation control data to the receiving device 6 through a communication path. The receiving device 6 changes its operation in accordance with the operation control data when received broadcasting is decoded. In this way, each of the receiver devices 6 can be controlled individually using the operation control data while making full use of the advantages of broadcasting.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 15, 2001Publication date: April 18, 2002Inventors: Keisei Yamamuro, Tatsuya Shimoji, Yuki Kusumi, Yasushi Nishimura, Kazuo Okamura, Yasunori Tanaka

Patent number: 6209816Abstract: Various parts in an assembly of parts are made of differing metals having incompatible ionization characteristics. Any two parts which have incompatible ionization characteristics are separated from one another such that corrosion inducing contact therebetween is eliminated. Therefore, the possibility of electrolytical corrosion can be reduced. For example, in one embodiment a spool assembly in a spinning reel includes a spool (12) made of a magnesium alloy mounted on a spool shaft (16). The spool shaft (16) is made of a stainless steel. Stainless steel and the magnesium alloy have ionization characteristics that are not compatible, leading to possible electrolytic corrosion therebetween. However, a sleeve (20) is disposed between the spool (12) and spool shaft (16). The sleeve (20) is made of an aluminum alloy that has ionization characteristics that are compatible with both the magnesium alloy and stainless steel.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1998Date of Patent: April 3, 2001Assignee: Shimano Inc.Inventors: Yasuhiro Hitomi, Ken'ichi Kawasaki, Yasushi Nishimura

Patent number: 5986205Abstract: The stainless steel sheet useful as a substrate for non-single crystalline semiconductor solar cells has minute ripples with undulations along a rolling direction, and its surface roughness is controlled in the range of R.sub.z 0.3-1.4 .mu.m and R.sub.max 0.5-1.7 .mu.m. It is manufactured by finish cold rolling a stainless steel strip with a reduction ratio of at least 20% at a rolling speed of at least 400 m/min. using work rolls polished with abrasives of gage #100-#400 at a final pass, annealing the rolled strip in an open-air atmosphere and then electrolytically pickling the annealed strip in a nitric acid solution. Since minute ripples with undulations are formed on the surface of the stainless steel sheet, an energy conversion efficiency is increased by acceleration of scattering and multiple reflection of incident light rays projected into a non-single crystalline semiconductor layer.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 1997Date of Patent: November 16, 1999Assignees: Nisshin Steel Co., Ltd., Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hisashi Matsune, Yasushi Nishimura, Takuji Okiyama, Masafumi Sano

Patent number: 5738188Abstract: A brake apparatus for a cycle designed so that a toe-in angle of a brake shoe can be set with ease and with high accuracy when the apparatus is assembled. When a toe-in setting member between the brake shoe and a clamping mechanism is deformed, a difference is produced between the angle at which a brake shoe is attached to a support member before the deformation and the angle at which the brake shoe is attached to the support member after deformation. The extent to which the toe-in setting member is deformable has previously been set so that the difference in angle will become a predetermined toe-in angle. A clamping mechanism is operated to clamp the brake shoe to the support member such that the brake shoe can be pressed against a wheel rim. Consequently, when the brake is operated, the brake shoe contacts the friction surface of the wheel rim with a predetermined toe-in angle.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1995Date of Patent: April 14, 1998Assignee: Shimano Inc.Inventor: Yasushi Nishimura

Patent number: 5501301Abstract: The present invention relates to a bicycle brake arm 1 used in a brake caliper apparatus. The brake arm 1 mounted to a bicycle frame F for pivotal movement about an axis X. A brake shoe mounting bracket 4 is likewise coupled to the bicycle frame F for pivotal movement about the axis X. In one embodiment, the brake arm 1 is formed with an arcuate recess 12 whose arcuate center coincides with the axis X. The brake shoe mounting bracket 4 has a first portion 4a formed with an arcuate contour, conforming to the contour of the recess 12, and the first portion 4a is slidably disposed within the recess 12. A bolt 9 extends through an elongated arcuate screw hole 8 formed in the first portion 4a and an aperture 4g formed in the brake arm 1. A brake shoe 5 is mounted to a position adjusting mechanism formed on the second portion 4b of the bracket 4.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 1994Date of Patent: March 26, 1996Assignee: Shimano Inc.Inventor: Yasushi Nishimura
