Abstract: A glass composition of the present invention relates to a multicomponent oxide glass composition manufactured by melting glass raw materials, which contains: 10 ppm or more of at least one type of a polyvalent element; minimum valence cations of the polyvalent element in a ratio of the minimum valence cation content to the total polyvalent element content of 5 to 98% in mass ratio; and 0.01 to 2 &mgr;l/g (0° C., 1 atm) of helium.

Abstract: A semiconductor laser element having an advantageous vertical light confinement efficiency, a low threshold current and a low element resistance is provided. The semiconductor laser element has a substrate and a stacked structure formed thereon, where the stacked structure comprises a buffer layer, an n-Al0.6Ga0.4As cladding layer, an n-Al0.47Ga0.53As cladding layer, an active layer, a p-Al0.47Ga0.53As first cladding layer, an Al0.55Ga0.45As etching stop layer, a p-Al0.47Ga0.53As second cladding layer, a p-Al0.6Ga0.4As third cladding layer, and a p-GaAs contact layer. The second and third cladding layers, and the contact layer are formed as a stripe-patterned ridge, and serve as a current injection regions. Both lateral portions of the ridge are filled with an n-type current blocking layer and serve as non-current-injection regions.

Abstract: In a text mining technique, if the system only extracts characteristic words and phrases frequently cooccurring with the respective components of an analysis axis as an analysis condition, similar words and phrases are extracted for any component. To clearly indicate existence of characteristic words and phrases which do not appear as cooccurrence words and phrases for other components of the analysis axis, it is desired to appropriately present distinguishable features between the components to the user. For this purpose, the frequency of appearances of a plurality of characteristic words and phrases in a document satisfying each analysis condition is calculated. As a result, multiple cooccurrence words and phrases and component-cooccurrence words and phrases are discriminatively displayed. It is therefore possible for the user to appropriately analyze the contents of a plurality of documents.

Abstract: A seed document typifying document information delivery of which a user desires from user terminals through a communication line is registered to an information delivering service system. The system extracts feature characters from the seed document and creates a user profile for each user. Acquiring document information from an information delivering party, the system extracts the feature characters from the document information and compares them with the feature characters of the user profile. The document information is transmitted to the user terminal to which the seed document having a relevance ratio exceeding a predetermined level is registered. Receiving the delivery of the document information, the user evaluates the document information as “relevant” or “irrelevant” and inputs the evaluation result to the system. The system decides a delivery service fee to each user terminal by taking the evaluation from the user into account.

Abstract: Similar document retrieving method and system for retrieving similar documents from a document database storing plural documents written in different languages with high accuracy while suppressing retrieval noise even when difference is found in the number of registered documents in dependence on the species of description languages. Statistical information concerning the registration-subjected documents is collected on a language-by-language basis upon registration thereof. Upon retrieval of documents similar to a query document, weights of words extracted from the query document are taken into account and on a language-by-language basis by referencing the statistical information.

Abstract: A similar document search method includes a step of extracting a characteristic word candidate as a candidate for a characteristic word from a seeds document including desired retrieval contents, a step of extracting as characteristic words of the seeds document, when the characteristic word candidate extracted by the extracting step is a compound characteristic word including a plurality of characteristic words, the compound characteristic word and constituent characteristic words included in the compound characteristic word from the characteristic word candidate, a step of calculating, according to the characteristic words extracted by the extracting step, similarity between the seeds document and a registration document, and a step of outputting as a retrieval result a result of the similarity calculated by the similarity calculating step.

Abstract: In the information filtering for presenting document information through the filtering using profiles as the search condition data, it is requested to urge a user to take a proper measure to obtain the result of distribution without any noise and omission at the time of information filtering by detecting existence of a plurality of similar profiles and old profiles and then notifying this fact to a user.

Abstract: A structured document generating method and apparatus capable of easily generating a structured document matching the document structure of each non-structured document, by using a rule directly generated from a preset document structure definition for the conversion of the non-structured document into the structured document. A keyword extracting module extracts a keyword representative of the document structure from a non-structured document by using a keyword extracting rule, and a keyword/text model is generated which is described by two elements including keywords and other strings. A parsing module generated by a process of automatically parsing the document structure by referring to a parsing rule generated by modifying and converting DTD, performs a parsing process relative to the keyword/text model to generate an interim SGML document.

Abstract: A control rod mechanism for transmitting the rotation of an electric motor via a drive shaft to an elevator apparatus for raising and lowering a hollow piston on an upper end thereof, which is provided a control rod that controls the output of a nuclear reactor. The control rod mechanism is used to insert the control rod into a reactor core or remove it therefrom, and also to rapidly insert the control rod into the reactor core by the injection of hot water to force the hollow piston upward. The control rod mechanism includes a magnetic coupling having an inner magnet, which is divided into a plurality of parts and is disposed at a lower portion of the drive shaft in order to transmit the rotational power of the electric motor to the drive shaft. The control rod mechanism also includes a drive-side outer magnet, which is divided into a plurality of parts and is provided on a rotary shaft of the electric motor in an arrangement on an outer side of the inner magnet.

Abstract: A polyol ester-based lubricant comprising a polyol ester (A) and a polyol ester (B);the polyol ester (A) comprising an ester of a neopentyl polyol and an acid residue of carbon number of 6-17, in which alpha-carbon in the acid residue of the polyol ester is tertiarily branched, and when alkyl groups having 4 or more carbon atoms are bonded to the alpha-carbon, the alkyl groups are branched, andthe polyol ester (B) comprising an ester of a neopentyl polyol and an acid residue of carbon number of 6-17, in which alpha-carbon in the acid residue of the polyol ester is secondarily or tertiarily branched and alkyl groups bonded to the alpha-carbon are straight is provided. This polyol ester-based lubricant has high performance, as demonstrated by high compatibility with substitute fluorocarbons in a kinematic viscosity range of 28 to 40 cst at 40.degree. C., excellent hydrolysis resistance, and a low pour point.

Abstract: A glass composition for glass bubbles used as reinforcing fillers in plastic resin articles has an improved compressive strength and the reduced alkali amount leached from the glass. Abstract: Xylylene diisocyanate is produced in higher space-time yield with higher selectivity by thermal decomposition of xylylene dicarbamate as an urethane compound, i.e. by subjecting the urethane compound to reactive distillation with a thermal decomposition catalyst of at least one of metals selected from antimony and tin or their compounds in the presence of an inert solvent having a higher boiling point than that of the resulting xylylene diisocyanate under reduced pressure of 1 to 500 mmHg and at 150.degree. to 350.degree. C. and then subjecting the resulting reaction products as distillates to partial condensation outside the reactive distillation system, thereby separately recovering the resulting alcohol and xylylene diisocyanate.

Abstract: An efficient process for recovering a catalyst used in the preparation of .alpha.-(4-isobutylphenyl)propionic acid, which comprises recovering part of a nickel catalyst component, such as nickel carbonyl, from a purge gas, concentrating a reaction product mixture, adding an organic solvent thereto to extract the reaction product, then separating and recovering the majority of the catalyst components from the extraction residue.
