    Abstract: A polarized-light converting elemental device which can produce an accurately unidirectionally and circularly polarized light with a minimized loss of light and a projection-type display device using said unidirectionally-polarized-light converting elemental device are provided. A polarized-light converting elemental device comprises a mirror glass portion consisting of an array of mirror glass blocks each having a first reflecting optical element and a second reflecting optical element and a cholesteric-liquid-crystal glass portion including a cholesteric liquid crystal layer for reflecting either clockwise circularly polarized component or anticlockwise circularly polarized component and transmitting the other. Natural light from the left side is split into two directions by the first reflecting optical element. Light reflected from the cholesteric liquid crystal is reflected by the second reflecting optical element to alter its rotation direction and then transmitted through the cholesteric liquid crystal.

    Abstract: An object of the present invention is to mass-produce fried food of high quality having no unevenly fried spots by making uniform the amount of cooking oil for frying food fed to food and the temperature distribution of the oil. A plurality of stacked pan-like trays (10) are received in a closable processing tank (1) and heated cooking oil is rapidly fed into the trays (10) through the side wall thereof by oil feed nozzles (41) so that the oil flows on the bottoms of the trays (10) at a given flow rate, the excess oil being allowed to overflow from the side opposite to the oil feed side to flow downwardly of the trays (10). The stacked trays (10) are individually fed with oil by the oil feed nozzles (41) so that none of the oil flowing from upper trays enters lower trays. The oil feed nozzles (41) are slidable back and forth relative to the trays (10), and the processing tank (1) is pressurized or evacuated according to the cooking conditions for articles of food a.

    Abstract: When operating preference settings are selected on a setting image on a CRT through a touch panel, an operating preference setting unit controls the CRT to display a menu for establishing settings for connection of inspecting devices in respective processes of a production line and names with respect to data delivered from the inspecting devices, in coaction with the touch panel. After the settings have been made, the CRT displays an image based on which the generation of a server image is indicated. Under the control of a server image generating unit, it is determined whether items related by the operating preference setting unit are to be displayed or not, generating a displayed image. When a server operation is indicated on an image next displayed on the CRT, data delivered from the inspecting devices are processed according to conditions indicated by the operating preference setting unit and a server operating unit, and displayed on the CRT under the control of the server operating unit.

    Abstract: A thin film flow-down type concentrating apparatus for concentrating a heat susceptible raw liquid with heated steam to high concentration without spoiling the flavor or deteriorating the quality by alternately laminating raw liquid plates and steam plates 20, in which the width of the raw liquid heating passage 18 is gradually narrowed from the raw liquid inlet to the concentrate outlet. As a result, if the volume of the raw liquid decreases due to evaporation and separation of the moisture in the raw liquid, scorching is prevented. Besides, by the steam generated from the raw liquid, in order to prevent increase of the flow velocity of the concentrate going toward the concentrate exit, the plate intervals of the raw liquid heating passage is gradually widened from the raw liquid inlet toward the concentrate outlet.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an internal combustion engine comprising a main combustion chamber and an auxiliary combustion chamber interconnected by two connecting passages with each other. A raised portion having a flat lower end face is formed on the inner wall of the cylinder head. A squish area is formed between the flat lower end face of the raised portion and the flat top surface of the piston when the piston reaches the top dead center. The spark gap of the spark plug is located in a first one of the connecting passages or in the auxiliary combustion chamber at a position near the first connecting passage. The first connecting passage is so arranged that the squish flow passes through in front of the opening of the first connecting passage for decelerating the combustible mixture stream forced into the auxiliary combustion chamber via the first connecting passage at the time of the compression stroke.

The combustible mixture located within the squish area is ignited and, as the result, a combustion gas is injected into the combustion chamber from the squish area. This combustion gas causes a turbulent burning of the combustible mixture in the combustion chamber.
