  • Patent number: 5695429
Abstract: A shift lock arrangement for an automatic transmission shift lever device having a shift lock lever in contact with a position pin of the shift lever device positioned in a parking position has a lock lever in contact with the shift lock lever to restrict the movement of the position pin in the parking position. A key lock unit is connected with the shift lock lever so that the shift lock lever keeps latching the position pin in the parking position when an automotive key is not set therein. A slidable stopper pin is connected with a push rod pushed by a brake pedal in a released condition. The stopper pin latches the shift lock lever so as to prevent the movement of the position pin from the parking position to the other positions when the brake pedal is in the released condition. When the brake pedal is depressed, the push rod is released from the brake pedal and the stopper pin is disengaged from the shift lock lever.

  • Patent number: 5540180
Abstract: The invention provides a gear position indicating arrangement in an automatic transmission shift control device which makes it possible to obtain two kinds of devices, i.e., one for a right-hand drive vehicle and one for a left-hand drive vehicle, using a number of common parts. In the device, a base bracket is a common part and can be used for both of the kinds. An indicator cover to be installed on the base bracket can also be used for both of the kinds by reversing the front and rear ends thereof in case of a left-hand drive vehicle as compared with those in case of a right-hand drive vehicle. A bulb case is a part independent from the indicator cover and the base bracket and adapted to be fastened to a right-hand side of the base bracket in case of a right-hand drive vehicle and to a left-hand side of the base bracket in case of a left-hand drive vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5522279
Abstract: A shift lever structure (E) for operating an automatic transmission of a vehicle, includes a frame (10) fixed to a floor of the vehicle, a shaft (20,21,22) rotatably supported by the frame, a shift lever (30) and a select lever (40) connected with the automatic transmission. Both the shift lever and the select lever are molded integrally with the shaft by the insert-molding technique. In the arrangement, the lower end portion of the shift lever is engaged with the upper end portion of the select lever at an L-shaped bend (41). In operation, a force applied on the shift lever can be transmitted to the select lever directly, thereby reducing any twisting movement applied to the shaft. Therefore, it is possible to improve the strength of both levers and to decrease the strength required for the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5010782
Abstract: In a position adjustable pedal assembly for a vehicle, a pedal pad position is adjustable in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle. A lever is connected to a stationary bracket for a pivotal movement about a pivot axis and is formed with a linear track extending in the vehicular longitudinal direction. A pedal arm is provided with a pedal pad at its lower end and with a guide member at its upper end and is connected to the lever for the pivotal movement with the lever in response to a depression force applied to the pedal pad. An adjust lever is provided on the lever for a relative movement to the lever and is formed with an arc-shaped track. The relative movement of the adjust lever is caused when the guide member moves within the linear track and simultaneously within the arc-shaped track while the pedal pad position is adjusted. The adjust lever is provided with a connecting member which is movable within another arc-shaped track in response to the relative movement of the adjust lever.
