Abstract: A polishing pad provides excellent optical detection accuracy properties over a broad wavelength range (particularly at the short-wavelength side). A method for manufacturing a semiconductor device includes a process of polishing the surface of a semiconductor wafer with this polishing pad. The polishing pad has a polishing layer containing a polishing region and a light-transmitting region, wherein the light-transmitting region includes a polyurethane resin having an aromatic ring density of 2 wt % or less, and the light transmittance of the light-transmitting region is 30% or more in the overall range of wavelengths of 300 to 400 nm.

The control section 300 is provided with a first specific image adding section 311, a second specific image adding section 308, a determination section 312, an altering section 313 and a CPU 301. The determination section 312 compares a first specific image A and a second specific image B which have been generated. When it has been determined that a part of the second specific image B is the first specific image A, the altering section 313 alters the second specific image B. When a PCI device connected to a memory for data exchange is slower than the HDD controller in slave access, the HDD controller operates in the slave mode in data control while the PCI device A becomes the bus master. Abstract: The present invention provides an image processing apparatus including: an image reading section for reading a document image; a particular image determining section for determining whether or not a particular image is included in image data read by the image reading section; an image processing section for processing the image data; and a resolution converting section for changing a resolution of the image data to be transferred to the particular image determining section, wherein the resolution converting section lowers a pixel frequency of the image data to be transmitted to the particular image determining section so as to perform simple processing. The lowered pixel frequency slows down processing speed of the image data and thereby improves determination accuracy.

Abstract: A system and method for permitting a consumer to compare premium estimates form a plurality of insurance providers based on inputting conditions which affect the premium calculation a single time to a network such as the Internet. A user initiates a session by connecting his computer to an insurance comparison website provided by a service underwriter. The user inputs various conditions which might affect the premium for a desired insurance product. The user inputs condition data to condition input screen and sends the condition data to the service underwriter. The service underwriter converts the condition data into a form suitable for a standard interface and sends the formatted data to computers of one or more participating and user selected insurance companies or underwriters. A premium calculation engine at the computer for each insurance company calculates an estimated premium. This, and other pertinent insurance policy data, is displayed to the user.

Abstract: A method and system for providing a user with insurance premium estimates from insurance providers for an insurance product. Insurance providers for the insurance product are selected by the user. Conditions input indicating conditions effecting the insurance premiums are transmitted from the user's computer to a service computer. The service computer converts the conditions input into a standard format suitable to a common interface and sends the converted conditions input to the user's computer. The converted conditions input is sent from the user's computer to the selected insurance providers without passing through or interacting with the service computer while being sent from the user's computer to the selected insurance providers. The insurance premium estimates from the selected insurance providers are received by the user's computer and displayed on a display unit of the user's computer in accordance with the conditions input and the selected insurance providers.
