  • Publication number: 20040129776
Abstract: A security monitor apparatus and method using a smart card are provided. The apparatus, which is connected to a system and displays a signal generated by the system, includes an interface that is used to communicate with the smart card containing personal identification information, a detector that detects a signal through the interface to determine insertion of the smart card into the monitor, and a controller that reads the personal identification information via the interface from the smart card and controls turning the display of the monitor on or off, when the insertion of the smart card is detected. The insertion of a smart card containing personal identification information into a monitor apparatus enables immediate screen protection and power savings.

  • Publication number: 20040046543
Abstract: An apparatus for and a method of measuring, in real-time, and indicating power consumption of a product powered by a switching mode power supply (SMPS). Power is supplied to the product through a transformer having a predetermined primary coil inductance, wherein a current of a primary coil of the transformer is turned ON and OFF by pulse-width modulation to supply the power to the electronic device. A drive voltage across the primary coil is monitored and a pulse waveform having a first level corresponding to an ON time of the current in the primary coil and a second level corresponding to an OFF time of the current in the primary coil is developed. Power consumption is calculated based on the drive voltage, the ON time of the current in the primary coil, the predetermined primary coil inductance, and a switching frequency of a pulse width modulator of the SMPS.

  • Publication number: 20030184549
Abstract: An apparatus for processing image data to minimize a size of the image data and for communicating the minimized image data and an apparatus and method for receiving the processed image data. The image processing apparatus includes an acceleration processor for accelerating rendering of a graphic signal and processing the graphic image upon a request of a display apparatus, and an encoder for encoding a difference portion between a previous image and the acceleratively processed graphic signal. The image processing apparatus transmits the minimized image signals via a graphic controller which compresses the images while excluding redundant portions of the transmitted image signals. The apparatus for receiving the image signals decodes the compressed image signal and displays the image signal. A plurality of images which are transmitted from a plurality of computers may be simultaneously displayed on a screen of the display apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20030187959
Abstract: A thin client/server network image processing system has a communication network, a thin client system, and a server, which performs a predetermined application at the request of the thin client system according to a thin client/server network environment/architecture (thin server) and transmits a result of performing the application to the thin client system through the communication network. The thin server has an image processor hardware, which accelerates rendering of a graphic signal to be processed at the request of the thin client system and encodes the rendered graphic signal and video signals linked to the graphic signal.

  • Patent number: 6177274
Abstract: A compound for targeted gene delivery is provided consisting of polyethylene glycol (PEG) grafted poly(L-lysine) (PLL) and a targeting moiety, wherein at least one free amino function of the PLL is substituted with the targeting moiety, and the grafted PLL contains at least 50% unsubstituted free amino function groups. TM is preferably lactose or galactose which are capable of specifically targeting a hepatoma cell or a liver cell. The new synthetic carriers with various substitution ratios of targeting moiety-PEG were characterized using NMR spectroscopy. The new polymeric gene carriers of this invention are capable of forming stable and soluble complexes with nucleic acids, which in turn are able to efficiently transform cells. PEG attached to the PLL gives better solubility properties to the gene/carrier complex and improved transfection efficiency without considerable cytotoxicity. Methods of preparing and using the targeting moiety-PEG-PLL as gene carriers to efficiently transfect cells are disclosed.
