  • Patent number: 5078316
Abstract: A control system adjusts the active state of an air conditioner system for automotive vehicles on the basis of the thermal environment in accordance with an automatic operation setting program. When a user inputs a modification request for adjusting the thermal environment within a vehicular cabin by means of a button switch while the air conditioner system operates in accordance with the program, the control system modifies the active state of the air conditioner system on the basis of the user's modification requests and the present thermal environment. The active state modification values are stored in a memory to be used in the adjustment of the active state until new modification values are entered by the user.

  • Patent number: 4921754
Abstract: A pavement marking sheet material of an improved durability comprises a laminate of a base layer containing unvulcanized synthetic rubber as a main ingredient and a colored layer of unvulcanized synthetic rubber containing a coloring agent and glass microspheres dispersed over the suface of the colored layer. The lower portions of the microspheres are embedded in the base layer and the remaining surfaces of the microspheres and the surface of the laminate are covered integrally with a surface layer of a thin film consisting of a transparent and colorless synthetic resin. The glass microspheres are prevented from coming off by the cooperation between the three layers and wear of the sheet itself is substantially reduced.

  • Patent number: 4876141
Abstract: A double layer pavement marking sheet material comprises a base sheet made of rubber, synthetic resin or the like in which a multiplicity of glass microspheres are embedded. The base sheet comprises an upper layer in which the glass microspheres are embedded in such a manner that a multiplicity thereof are partially exposed from the surface of the base sheet and a lower layer having hardness within a range of 30.degree.-75.degree. and restoration rate of 50% or less. This double layer pavement marking sheet material has such an excellent conformability to the pavement surface that the sheet material is not separated once it has been adhered to the pavement surface.

  • Patent number: 4824516
Abstract: A pavement-marking tape applicator comprises a carrier which has at least one wheel and an application roller and moves along a paved surface on which a pavement-marking tape is to be applied. A roll of pavement-marking tape is unwindably supported on the carrier. A pair of free end position adjusting rollers are mounted on the carrier for holding the unwound tape at such a position that the tape hangs in front of the application roller. The free end position adjusting rollers are capable of finely adjusting the free end position of the tape. A drive mechanism for manually or electrically rotating these free end position adjusting rollers is provided. In one aspect of the invention the pavement-marking tape applicator comprises a cutter mounted on the carrier for cutting the tape after completion of application of the tape on the paved surface.

  • Patent number: 4756952
Abstract: The inventive water-swellable caulking material for water-leakage prevention is of the type formed of a composition comprising a rubbery polymer and a highly water-absorptive resin and useful in the caulking works of a construction joint of concrete. Different from the conventional caulking materials of the type, the inventive caulking material is provided on the surface of a shaped body of the water-swellable composition with a coating film which is impervious to neutral water but exhibits water-permeability when contacted with an alkaline water of an alkalinity such as in an uncured concrete mixture so that the caulking material is prevented from premature or untimely expansion by swelling even when inadvertently contacted with water prior to application to the working site but capable of promptly expanding when contacted with an uncured concrete mixture with alkalinity.

  • Patent number: 4751140
Abstract: In a high-brightness pavement marking sheet material, a continuous pattern of a multiplicity of protuberances and depressions is formed on the surface of a base sheet made of rubber, synthetic resin or the like and that glass microspheres are embedded in these protuberances and depressions in such a manner that a depth of embedding of these glass microspheres in the base sheet from the surface is randomly different one from another and a majority of the glass microspheres in these protuberances and depressions are partially exposed from the surface of the base sheet. An excellent initial brightness is obtained and brightness at a high level is continuously maintained despite wear of the base sheet.

  • Patent number: 4740404
Abstract: The waterstop used to prevent passage or leakage of water through a construction joint of concrete is shaped of a plastic or rubber in the form of a continuous-length belt-like form and provided with a water-swellable rubbery layer on at least a portion, or, for example, along the peripheries of the belt-like form, side-by-side coming into contact with the concrete bodies to serve as a water-tight filling of the joint by being swollen with water. The water-swellable rubbery layer is protected temporarily prior to use with a coating film of an alkali-soluble polymeric material which can at least partially be dissolved away by the alkalinity of the water in the concrete joint. The peripheries of the plastic- or rubber-made belt-like form are preferably in a length-wise bulged form having a bore running therethrough to serve as a stress absorber when the water-swellable rubbery layer is swollen with water.
