    Abstract: A liquid-crystal device is provided which is free from short-circuiting between adjacent electrodes, which presents a high yield in the manufacturing process, and which facilitates the measurement of a wiring gap. The liquid-crystal device includes a plurality of color material layers arranged on a substrate, a light-shielding layer surrounding each of the color material layers, a protective layer covering the color material layers and the light-shielding layer, and a plurality of electrode strips arranged on the protective layer and extending from a formation region of the protective layer to an unformed region of the protective layer. The electrode width of the electrode strip on a step portion of the protective layer is set to be narrower than the electrode width of the electrode strip on the protective layer in an effective region of the liquid-crystal device.

    Abstract: A shadow mask for use in a cathode ray tube comprises a mask body having a mask effective section where a number of electron beam passage apertures are formed and a skirt portion provided at a peripheral edge of the mask effective section, and a mask frame arranged to be layered outside the skirt portion. The mask frame and the skirt portion are resistance-welded to each other at a plurality of portions. At each welding portion, a plurality of concave and/or convex portions each having a smaller area than an area of a contact surface of an electrode for resistance-welding are formed at an inner surface portion of the skirt portion which the electrode contacts.

    Abstract: The invention is intended to simplify a default mechanism of a throttle valve opening and closing device for the purpose of improving mountability of the device to a vehicle. When a motor generate no driving forces, a throttle valve is held in a position (1) by a return spring. In this position, gaps are formed between the throttle valve and a wall surface of an intake passage. Spherical recesses are formed in parts of the wall surface of the intake passage. In a position (2) where the throttle valve is opposed to the spherical recesses, the gaps are minimized in an operating range of the throttle valve.

    Abstract: A lightweight, low cost throttle body and throttle valve placed in the body, both formed of resins, that resolve the problem of excessively large gap formation is disclosed. Circumferentially oriented filler contained in a resin forming a throttle valve compensates to make the radial linear expansion coefficient of the throttle valve substantially equal to that of a bore. Grooves are formed on concentric circles in the throttle valve to orient filler circumferentially. A throttle valve provided with circumferentially oriented filler can be formed by impregnating an aggregate formed by circumferentially arranging the filler with a resin and curing the resin. A rib is formed in a part near a throttle shaft to control molding shrinkage so that the roundness of the bore is small.

    Abstract: In a system for monitoring power of a nuclear reactor, a plurality of neutron flux measuring devices are arranged in a reactor core of the nuclear reactor for measuring neutron flux so as to generate neutron flux signals on the basis of the measured neutron flux. The neutron flux signals are filtered through a first weighting coefficient and a second weighting coefficient previously held in a monitoring signal calculating unit so as to generate stability monitoring signals. The first weighting coefficient corresponds to a fundamental mode of a neutron flux distribution in the reactor core and tire second weighting coefficient corresponds to a higher mode of the neutron flux distribution therein. The stability monitoring signal filtered through the first and second weighting coefficients are transmitted to a stability monitoring unit the stability monitoring unit monitors the stability of the core according to the transmitted stability monitoring signals.

    Abstract: A linear/rotary actuator capable of carrying out both linear motion and rotary motion either individually or concurrently as desired while controlling both motions as desired. A rotary driving motor includes a hollow shaft. When the rotary driving motor rotates a third nut fitted on a spline section of the rotary driving motor, an output shaft rotatably fitted on a linear shaft through bearings is rotated. The linear shaft 21 is provided thereon with a threaded section. A spline section and a first nut is threadedly fitted on the threaded section and a second nut kept stationary is fitted on the spline section. The first nut is rotated while being fixed in a hollow shaft of a linear driving motor. Rotation of the linear driving motor leads to rotation of the first nut, resulting in the linear shaft 21 being linearly moved in an axial direction thereof, so that the output shaft may be linearly moved.

    Abstract: A scanner for reading an object having a width larger than that of the distal end portion of a scanner main body, has an exit opening for outputting a light beam formed at the distal end portion of the scanner main body. An LED for generating a light beam, and a solid-state image pickup element for receiving the light beam which is reflected by the code, are arranged in the scanner main body. A gap portion for increasing the irradiation width of the light beam to be larger than the width of the distal end portion of the scanner main body is formed at the distal end portion of the scanner main body. Therefore, when a code is read by bringing the scanner main body close to or into contact with the code, the gap portion increases the width of the light beam to be larger than that of the distal end portion of the scanner main body, and therefore, a code having a width larger than the width of the distal end portion of the scanner main body can be read.

Furthermore, the method to inhibit the increasing viscosity of hydrocarbon, e.g. in a bottom section of a tower, may be accomplished by adding the hydrocarbon viscosity inhibitor to the feed oil, reflux oil or directly to the tower bottom oil in the tower. Such an oil quench tower is used for an olefin production process in which the hydrocarbon may include naphtha, light oil, natural gas, liquefied natural gas, etc. in the raw material.

A filter calculating unit is provided for obtaining a filter for extracting characteristics of change of the neutron flux detection signal in response to the neutron flux detection signal and an input/output unit for transmitting the neutron flux detection signal filtered by the filter obtained by the filter calculating unit.
