Smooth on hosiery gloves

Abstract

A new and improved apparatus is disclosed for assisting a user in putting on hosiery on their body. The apparatus of the present invention are gloves and would be made from nylon, spandex, or a combination of the two. Alternatively, the present invention could be fabricated from other materials which would allow a user to easily grasp hosiery when a user would want to put hosiery on. By using the present invention, a user would be able to prevent the creation of snags, runs, and ripped holes in hosiery that a user would be putting on.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention concerns that of a new and improved apparatus for assisting a user in putting on hosiery on their body.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART

[0002] U.S. Pat. No. 5,708,980, issued to LaManna et al., discloses a new protective glove for covering the hands of a user and protecting hosiery and other delicate fabrics from snags and tears caused by rough skin or jagged fingernails.

[0003] U.S. Pat. No. 4,752,973, issued to Wolfberg et al., discloses a hand covering which is intended for use by women in putting on and taking off panty hose.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0004] The present invention concerns that of a new and improved protective hand covering for assisting a user in putting on hosiery on their body. The apparatus comprises a pair of gloves which would be made from nylon or Spandex. Alternatively, the present invention could be fabricated from other materials which would allow a user to easily grasp hosiery when a user would want to put hosiery on. By using the present invention, a user would be able to prevent the creation of snags, runs, and ripped holes in hosiery that a user would be putting on.

[0005] There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of an apparatus for assisting a user in putting on hosiery in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are, of course, additional features of the apparatus for assisting a user in putting on hosiery that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

[0006] In this respect, before explaining at least one embodiment of the apparatus for assisting a user in putting on hosiery in detail, it is to be understood that the apparatus for assisting a user in putting on hosiery is not limited in its application to the details of construction and to the arrangements of the components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The apparatus for assisting a user in putting on hosiery is capable of other embodiments and being practiced and carried out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of descriptions and should not be regarded as limiting.

[0007] As such, those skilled in the art will appreciate that the conception, upon which this disclosure is based, may readily be utilized as a basis for the designing of other structures, methods and systems for carrying out the several purposes of the present apparatus for assisting a user in putting on hosiery. It is important, therefore, that the claims be regard as including such equivalent constructions insofar as they do not depart from the spirit and scope of the present invention.

[0008] It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide an apparatus for assisting a user in putting on hosiery which has all of the advantages of the prior art and none of the disadvantages.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0016] FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of glove 2 of the present invention. The present invention comprises a pair of gloves 2 which would be fabricated from nylon or Spandex. Alternatively, the pair of gloves 2 could be fabricated from other materials which would allow a user to easily grasp hosiery when a user would want to put hosiery on. The goal of the present invention, however, would be to use only one fabric when manufacturing the pair of gloves 2, thereby allowing the present invention to be manufactured more efficiently and in a more cost effective manner than existing art in this field. The cost savings could then be passed on to retailers and the buying public.

[0017] By using the pair of gloves 2, a user would be able to prevent the creation of snags, runs, and ripped holes in hosiery that a user would be putting on. A user would be able to put on and take off the pair of gloves 2 easily and could store pair of gloves 2 with other hosiery, in a dressing area on a wall hook, or in a purse for “away from home” convenience.

[0018] Each glove 2 would have a thumb section 4 and four finger sections, which would include an index finger section 6, a middle finger section 8, a ring finger section 10, and a pinky finger section 12. In addition, each glove would have a palm section 14. A user would insert the appropriate fingers into each of the finger sections, their thumb into the thumb section 4, and their palm into the palm section 14 for each glove 2 when the pair of gloves 2 would be worn.

[0019] FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of the pair of gloves being worn by a user. As can be seen, the present invention would come in a pair of gloves 2. The pair of gloves 2 could be made available in a wide variety of sizes so that a user could best choose the appropriate size for herself. Alternatively, the present invention could be made in a “one size fits all” manner due to the flexibility of the fabric used to manufacture the present invention.

[0020] FIG. 3 shows a perspective view of the pair of gloves 2 being worn by a user, showing proper use of the present invention. A user would still need to put hosiery on slowly, but the present invention would greatly assist a user in preventing snags, runs, and ripped holes that are quite prevalent due to the presence of fingernails, hang nails, dry skin, jewelry, and other objects.

Claims

1. An apparatus for assisting a user in putting on hosiery on their body comprising:

(a) a left glove, the left glove having a thumb section and four finger sections, the four finger sections including an index finger section, a middle finger section, a ring finger section, and a pinky finger section, the left glove also having a palm section,

(b) a right glove, the right glove having a thumb section and four finger sections, the four finger sections including an index finger section, a middle finger section, a ring finger section, and a pinky finger section, the right glove also having a palm section,

(c) wherein the left glove and right glove would be fabricated from a particular material, the material being thin and pliable.

2. An apparatus for assisting a user in putting on hosiery on their body according to

claim 1 wherein the material that the left glove and the right glove would be fabricated from would be nylon.

3. An apparatus for assisting a user in putting on hosiery on their body according to

claim 1 wherein the material that the left glove and the right glove would be fabricated from would be Spandex.
