Cannon barrel

A cannon barrel is a conic hollow barrel cast from metal and includes two ends of different inner diameters. One of the ends of the conic hollow barrel having a relatively smaller inner diameter is secured to a cradle. A shot fired through the barrel gradually spreads while passing through the barrel. The explosion/impact area of the shot is thus enlarged, which could hit the target more easily.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The present invention relates to a cannon barrel. In particular, the present invention provides a cannon barrel providing a large explosion/impact area to effectively destroy the target.

[0003] 2. Description of the Related Art

[0004] FIGS. 1 and 2 of the drawings illustrate a conventional cannon barrel 1′ having an end secured to a cradle 2′. A shot fired through the cannon barrel 1′ is directed to the target and thus has a small explosion/impact area, as the cannon barrel 1′ has a straight bore. As a result, it is not easy to directly hit the target.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0005] An object of the present invention is to provide a cannon barrel providing a large explosion/impact area to effectively destroy the target.

[0006] A cannon barrel in accordance with the present invention is a conic hollow barrel cast from metal and includes two ends of different inner diameters. One of the ends of the conic hollow barrel having a relatively smaller inner diameter is secured to a cradle. A shot fired through the barrel gradually spreads while passing through the barrel. The explosion/impact area of the shot is thus enlarged, which could hit the target more easily.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0012] Referring to FIGS. 3 and 4, a cannon barrel in accordance with the present invention is a conic hollow barrel 1 cast from metal and has two ends of different inner diameters. The end of the barrel I having the relatively smaller inner diameter is secured to a cradle 2. By such an arrangement, a shot (not shown) fired through the barrel 1 spreads while it passes through the barrel 1. The explosion/impact area of the shot is thus enlarged, which could hit the target more easily.

[0013] According to the above description, it is appreciated that since the barrel 1 is conic and since the end of the barrel 1 having a relatively smaller inner diameter is secured to the cradle 2, the shot gradually spreads while passing through the barrel 1. The explosion/impact area of the shot is thus enlarged, which could hit the target more easily. The barrel 1 is thus more effective when used to intercept a missile or airplane flying at a low level.

[0014] Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.

Claims

1. A cannon barrel having an end secured to a cradle, the cannon barrel being a conic hollow barrel cast from metal and including two ends of different inner diameters, one of the ends of the conic hollow barrel having a relatively smaller inner diameter being secured to the cradle.
