BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] This invention relates to the field of holiday ornamentation and children's toys.

[0003] The invention allows small children to decorate and rearrange holiday ornaments without the danger of breakable or toxic ornaments.

[0004] The invention allows small children to decorate and rearrange holiday ornaments without the danger of swallowing or choking on the ornament.

[0005] The invention allows small children to learn their colors and shapes and other educational elements as they play.

[0006] It is the intent of this invention to allow children to decorate for the holidays, such as a Christmas tree, with ornaments that present no danger to them.

[0007] Ornaments as they currently exist do not direct themselves to children specifically.

[0008] While many patents exist that concern ornamentation, none apply to ornaments for children that address all safety concerns and additionally provide an opportunity for education.

[0009] Patent numbers of items concerning ornamentation, which show that nothing addresses the needs of children and ornamentation: 1   4989120 Jan., 1991 David et al 362/35   4923721 May 1990 Gilmore 428/11   5487925 Jan., 1996 Simmel et al 428/19 20020056659 May, 2002 Kanning 206/521 20020168486 Nov., 2002 Yedlin 428/11 20020067990 June, 2002 Mnatsakanian 416/63 20010023547 Sep., 2001 Huang  40/426

[0010] It has been a continuing problem for parents that at the holidays, children want to participate, but the current ornaments are constructed of fragile, breakable materials that present a danger to the children.

[0011] My First Ornaments solves this difficulty by providing a molded item with a hook shaped appendage that is a contiguous part of the ornament that allows the child to suspend the item without the danger of breaking or swallowing the item.

[0012] It is the intent of this invention to be of such a size that a child cannot choke on it.

[0013] It is also the intent of this item to provide the opportunity for education for the children who play with it by being constructed in different colors and different shapes and different sizes and with different markings incorporated into them, such as numbers and letters.

[0014] These differences will allow children to differentiate among different ornaments and choose specific ones as they learn to distinguish the differences.

[0015] It is the intent of this invention that children will be able to play safely with this item, and not risk hazard from the material, shape, or size of the item.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0016] There are many decorative ornaments that have been made over the years, of many different materials and shapes and sizes. What makes this ornament different is that the intent is to provide an ornament for young children to use. Many parents agree that having holiday decorations in the house with a toddler can create problems. This invention allows the child to have his or her own set of decorations to play with safely and with which to participate in the holiday.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING

[0017] The items (see FIG. 1 and FIG. 2) enclosed are simple representations of some of the different possible shapes which could be used when making this invention and include the attachment device (see FIG. 1) which will be part of the item to allow safe hanging of the ornament.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0018] This item will be made of a moldable material, such as a plastic or a polymer derivative thereof, which allows the material to be shaped and colored and smoothed into a single, strong unit with an attaching device appendage.

[0019] This item will be made such that it does not break during normal childhood usage and does not present any danger of swallowing or choking or cutting or toxicity.

[0020] In the course of plastics manufacture, molds will be created for each shape the ornament can be formed in, such as but not limited to geometric, holiday, sports, animals, insects, birds, etc. The molds will be filled with a colorful plastic or a polymer derivative that creates a hollow, lightweight, single unit item with a hook shaped appendage as part of the mold. This hook will allow for hanging of the item while it will not detach so offers no danger of choking.
