Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of the Invention

[0002] The present invention relates to packaging, and more particularly to packaging for food.

[0003] 2. Description of Related Art

[0004] In a busy industrial and commercial society, most working people eat in restaurants. To increase work efficiency and decrease eating time, many people buy food in convenience stores. Convenience stores sell a wide choice of food to satisfy people. To maintain public health, food available in convenience stores is packaged. Immediately before eating the food, people open the packaging.

[0005] With reference to FIG. 4, conventional packaging for sandwiches is triangular and comprises an access side (not numbered), a protruding flap (not numbered) and a pull tab (10). The access side is rectangular and has two parallel longitudinal edges, a distal edge, a proximal edge (not numbered), an inside surface (not numbered), an outside surface (not numbered) and two perforated lines (14). The two perforated lines (14) have a proximal end (not numbered) and a distal end (not numbered), are parallel to each other and to the longitudinal edges, are formed equidistance from the longitudinal edges and intersect the distal edge of the access side. The protruding flap is attached to and extends from proximal edge of the access side. The pull tab (10) is loosely attached to the protruding flap and is securely attached to the inside surface of the access side between the two perforated lines (14) and has a loose end (12) on the protruding flap.

[0006] With further reference to FIG. 5, the packaging for the sandwich is opened by pulling the loose end (12) of the pull tab (10) and tearing the perforated lines (14) to open the access side. Tearing the perforated lines (14) tears the access side into two parts that are pulled apart so the sandwich can be eaten.

[0007] However, the perforated lines (14) are only on the access side so conventional packaging only opens the access side. Pulling the packaging apart and removing the sandwich with a person's hands can easily contaminate the sandwich and its contents.

[0008] The present invention has arisen to mitigate or obviate the disadvantages of conventional packaging for food.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0009] The main objective of the present invention is to provide packaging that can be quickly and conveniently opened.

[0010] To achieve the objective, the packaging for food in accordance with the present invention comprises two perforated lines and a pull tab. The two perforated lines extend around the packaging, and the pull tab is connected to the packaging between the two perforated lines. The pull tab has at least one loose end. To open the packaging, the loose end of the pull tab is pulled to tear the perforated lines and separate the packaging into two sections. One part of the packaging is removed and discarded to open the packaging, and the remaining part is used to hold the food so the food can be eaten without touching the food with a person's hands.

[0011] Further benefits and advantages of the present invention will become apparent after a careful reading of the detailed description with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0017] With reference to FIG. 1, packaging for food in accordance with the present invention comprises packaging material (not numbered), a pull tab (20) and two perforated lines (24). The pull tab (20) has at least one loose end (22). The packaging material has an inside surface (not numbered) and an outside surface (not numbered) and is formed into a bag (not numbered) with one sealed side (not numbered). The perforated lines (24) are parallel and extend around the bag. The pull tab (20) has at least one loose end (22) and is securely attached to the inside surface of packaging material between the perforated lines (24). The loose end (22) extends outside the bag so the bag can be separated into two pieces by pulling the pull tab (20) to tear the perforated lines (24).

[0018] For illustration purposes, an embodiment of the packaging in accordance with the present invention for a triangular sandwich has two triangular faces (not numbered), a sealed side (not numbered), a continuous side (not numbered), an inclined side (not numbered) and an inside surface (not numbered). Each side has two ends (not numbered) and two edges (not numbered) and is integrally formed with the two triangular faces (not numbered) along the edges and two adjacent sides along the ends. The two perforated lines (24) are formed around the packaging, pass across the continuous side and the inclined side equidistance between their ends and across the triangular faces. The two perforated lines (24) are parallel and are parallel to the ends and edges of the sealed side. The pull tab (20) has at least one loose end (22) and is securely attached to the inside surface of between the two perforated lines (24). At least one loose end (22) of the pull tab (20) is outside the packaging at any position between the perforated lines (24). With further reference to FIGS. 2 and 3, the loose end (22) is pulled to tear the perforated lines (24). Completely pulling the pull tab (20) tears the packaging into two pieces. One piece includes the sealed side and parts of the triangular faces, the inclined side and the continuous side connected to the sealed side and can be removed from the sandwich. This piece can be removed to expose the sandwich, and the other piece can be used to hold the sandwich. Opening the packaging for food in accordance with the present invention is convenient and keeps dirty hands from contaminating the food.

[0019] Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
