  • Patent number: 4158283
Abstract: Titanium aluminum, non-frangible structural wire, when assembled into axially symmetric and contrahelically wrapped cable has high fatigue strength and loading linearity for uniquely high work efficiency. Dynamic stresses are moderated by more suitable mechanical, physical and dynamic properties so that stress and fatigue control are passively achieved. Structural wire is specially processed from selected titanium base alloys having high drop test tear energy, wherein new construction designs and specifications are then suitable and used during cable assembly to substantially advance work performance and increase service life.Work characteristics are basically improved and changed by (1) adding elastic and constructional stretch, (2) materially reducing mass density, and (3) loading cable with hard and soft spring. These cable attributes translate into much higher fatigue strength, mainly by absorbing, storing and dissipating induced work loads at rapid rates.

  • Patent number: 4158317
Abstract: A spring washer engaged transmission wherein a plurality of planetary discs are conformed to provide two opposed conical surfaces, the axis of rotation of each disc including the apex of the cone. The planetary discs are received between a first set of two dished washers forming a sun and a second set of similarly shaped washers forming an exterior peripheral ring. Each disc is mounted for rotation on a corresponding pin, the pins being received in cam grooves formed in the driving plate in a first embodiment and being mounted for eccentric rotation in the second embodiment. A centrifugal bob weight attached to each pin in the second embodiment controls the eccentric alignment of the pin thus controlling the displacement of the disc relative the first and second set of dished washers.

  • Patent number: 4158320
Abstract: A jig, having two fixed jig faces forming a right angle, is rotatably mounted on a guide rail which can slide in each of the linear grooves formed parallel to and on opposite sides of a conventional wood-cutting saw table. Complementary cuts for the construction of mitered corners are obtained by directing the apex of the jig parallel to the cutting blade. The first cut is made by supporting the wood on the appropriate jig face as it is guided through the blade. Without changing its setting relative to the guide rail, the jig is transferred to the groove on the opposite side of the blade and a second cut is made.

  • Patent number: 4158325
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reproducing a three dimensional form from a photographic image of that form comprises, projecting in a parallel beam an image of a series of spaced parallel lines onto the object to be reproduced. The object with the superimposed lines is photographed obliquely, by way of reflection off a spherical mirror such that the lines appear as contour lines on the photograph. This photograph is subsequently projected onto a screen, again via reflection off a spherical mirror. The contour lines on the image on the screen are then traced in turn by a stylus or pen linked via a pantograph to a cutting tool which cuts out a corresponding contour from a block of material.
