  • Patent number: 4173821
Abstract: In the process of fabrication of semiconductor devices, a lead frame hoop supplied from a supply reel is set forward to successively enter into a series of fabricating steps. After having been subjected to pellet bonding, wire bonding and resin-molding, it is wound up about a take-up reel. Baking step is performed with the lead frame hoop wound on the take-up reel. The lead frame hoop unwound from the take-up reel is cut into separate individual semiconductor device units from one another and the measurement of characteristics and the classification of the thus prepared units are carried out with the positions of the units maintained as they were at the cutting step. Accordingly, the process has a smaller number of steps and therefore the production cost is reduced, and the speed of working is improved.

  • Patent number: 4173822
Abstract: A method for assembling a stator for an electric machine having a permanent magnet for generating a magnetic field in an air gap. Assembly of the stator is performed with the aid of a plunger, the cross-section of which corresponds to the cross-section of the air gap. The permanent magnet is slid into the interior of the plunger, whereas the flux return ring is slid over the same. The so formed sub-assembly is put into a casting mold adapted to be filled with a plastics material, which in its cured or hardened state forms a casing intimately surrounding the outer surface of the flux return ring and forming a face plate, to which the permanent magnet adheres. When the plastics material has set, the casting mold is opened and the plunger is retracted from the sub-assembly, resulting in a close toleranced cylindrical air gap space. After insertion of a bell-shaped rotor, a brush cover is assembled opposite the face plate.

  • Patent number: 4173842
Abstract: A simple and inexpensive puppet is manufactured by the bonding of a pair of rigid, flat, relatively thin members, side by side, on a resilient backing member. When the rigid, flat members, which are originally mounted in a coplanar relationship by the resilient member, are articulated toward one another, the resilient backing tends to return these rigid members to a coplanar position. The puppet may thus be used by grasping the reverse side of the resilient portion between the thumb and index finger to urge the rigid portions to articulate toward one another. Releasing the pressure between the thumb and index finger allows the rigid members to articulate further away from one another. The puppet thus provides an articulating structure which may carry artwork or other indicia exemplifying a face or mouth so that, as it is manipulated between the thumb and index finger, the puppet appears to open and close its mouth.

  • Patent number: 4173858
Abstract: A liquid soap dispensing system includes a closed soap container having a manually actuated dispensing pump carried therebeneath. Refill of the container is by a plastic refill squeeze bottle with a neck defining an outlet opening closed by a membrane recessed therein. One embodiment of the bottle is formed by ultrasonically welding in the neck end, after the bottle is filled, a plug defining a cylindrical sleeve closed at the inner end thereof by a closure wall. The neck is inserted into a well in the top of the container, and a hollow piercing member at the bottom of the well ruptures the membrane or closure member, whereupon soap may be squeezed from the bottle and through the passage through the hollow piercing member, which is constricted by septa dividing the passage into channels such that flow of liquid soap therethrough at equal pressures at both ends of the passage is substantially inhibited.

  • Patent number: 4173860
Abstract: A new method has been invented for introducing texture, crimp, or set twist into synthetic polymer yarns which eliminates the need to heat the yarns prior to the texturing step. It has been found that the heat generated in the drawing step of synthetic yarn manufacturing processes is sufficient to cause a twisted undrawn yarn to retain the twist permanently after being drawn. The mild heat treatment experienced by the fibers is highly uniform and produces textured yarns of exceptional uniformity, especially with respect to dyeability, as compared with textured yarns produced by known art processes.

  • Patent number: 4173864
Abstract: Disclosed is a secondary air feed control device in an internal combustion engine having in its exhaust system a three way catalytic converter and an oxygen concentration detector. This detector provides a signal indicating that the total air-fuel ratio is smaller than the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio. The secondary air feed control device comprises a valve port through which the secondary air passes, and an air valve co-operating with the valve port. The air valve is actuated by a pair of diaphragm apparatus. One of the diaphragm apparatus is selectively connected to either the intake manifold or the atmosphere via a restricted opening in response to said signal. The other diaphragm apparatus is selectively connected to either a vacuum source of a constant level or the atmosphere via a restricted opening in response to said signal. The opening speed of the air valve is reduced and the closing speed of the air valve is increased in accordance with the reduction in the level of the load of the engine.
