  • Patent number: RE30966
Abstract: This invention relates to a clinical wick catheter and to a technique for measuring tissue fluid pressure and also collecting tissue fluid by the catheter.A catheter has a wick positioned in one end which is drawn into place by a monofilament tether extending through the catheter tube. In use, a sheathed placement needle is first partially inserted beneath the skin .[.and.]. .Iadd.or .Iaddend.fascia of the subject patient; the needle is partially retracted into the sheath; the assembly is then further inserted into the .[.muscle.]. tissue of interest. The needle is then withdrawn and replaced by the catheter which is inserted, wick first, through the sheath until the wick resides in the tissue region of interest. Thereafter, the interstitial fluids soak into the wick and the pressure transmitted through the catheter via the medium of a .[.saline.]. solution which fills the catheter. The outer end of the catheter is connected to pressure (negative or positive) measuring equipment, such as a manometer.

  • Patent number: 4334327
Abstract: A ureter prosthesis fabricated from copolyurethane materials which are non-reactive in the urinary environment and adapted for fixation within a patient to avoid adverse migration. This ureter prosthesis can be adapted for intermediate location along a ureter or can be constructed with one-way valve means appropriate for implantation into the bladder lumen without a resulting vesico-ureteral reflux. The ureter prosthesis includes an elongate duct having a lumen whose interior surface is ultrasmooth based on microscopic inspection. An exterior cuff with terminal and intermediate sewing projections is formed around a portion of the elongate duct to enable its fixation by suturing to appropriate muscular tissue. • Patent number: 4334333
Abstract: A method of dyeing a fabric connected in an endless form while repeatedly circulating said fabric through a dyeing tank is improved by providing a residence vessel made of a perforated plate within said dyeing tank and either rocking or vertically reciprocating said residence vessel as immersed in a dyeing liquor while said fabric is being stagnated within said residence vessel. Owing to the rocking or vertical reciprocating motion of the residence vessel, the dyeing liquor is made to flow into and out of said residence vessel, penetrating therethrough, and thereby the necessary amount of the dyeing liquor can be reduced and the dyeing time can be shortened. A desirable apparatus for practicing said improved method is also provided.
