  • Patent number: 4694507
Abstract: A mechanism for opening and closing a window closure member (12) in a welder's helmut (10) by movement of the welder's chin. The helmet is provided with a chin engaging member (18), (20) which is attached to one end of an arm (24) by a rod (26). The arm (24) is pivotally connected to the helmut. As the welder lowers his chin against the chin engaging member, a roller (30) attached to the other end of pivoting arm (24) applies an opening force via rod (26) to the lower inner face of the window closure member (12) thus forcing the closure member to swing open about hinges (14). The chin engaging member is biased against the welder's chin by a spring (40). Thus an upward movement of the welder's chin will allow the window closure member (12) to return to a closed position.

  • Patent number: 4694512
Abstract: In order to achieve a fully automatic, electronic adjustment by means of a process for controlling a plumbing combination set with a multi-disc mixing valve for hot and cold water, whereby temperature is adjusted by making a comparison between the actual temperature of the mixing water and the target temperature of the mixing water, it is proposed that the actual mixing value be constantly measured and that a factor for the regulator of the appropriate mixing valve adjustment disc be derived from the target/actual divergence, and that at the same time the preselected flow of the mixture can be maintained at a constant level without measurement of the flow quantities, a correction factor being derived from the factor of the aforementioned adjustment disc for the factor of the flow adjustment disc regulator.

  • Patent number: 4694515
Abstract: An air mattress comprising an inflatable and deflatable flexible body enclosing an air chamber having a resilient means urging the opposite upper and lower walls of the body apart while being yieldable to permit the body to be folded and deflated. In one embodiment, removable a closure is attached to the body to be received in a portal in the wall of the body to seal the chamber closed. When the body is unfolded into a generally horizontal or planar position with the portal opened, the resilient means within the body will separate the upper and lower walls of the body drawing air from the atmosphere into the chamber, the portal may then be closed to seal the air in the chamber. The air mattress is illustrated on a foldable bed including frame portions which are foldable into overlying positions to fold and deflate the mattress and which are unfoldable into a horizontal position to unfold and inflate the mattress.

Four parallel support rods suspended from the conveyor track are formed of an electrical insulator to prevent short circuit of the stunner. In addition, the piston and cylinder assemblies are similarly insulated. By extending or contracting the piston and cylinder assemblies, the ladder contactor can be raised or lowered parallel to the poultry transporting conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4694536
Abstract: A compound pump mechanism is provided adjacent the inlet ends of concentrically positioned inner and outer stuffing horns or tubes of a meat encasing machine. The first pump mechanism is in communication with a source of conventional meat emulsion, and is powered by a vertically disposed power shaft. This power shaft extends into the housing of a second pump mounted adjacent to, and preferably on top of, the first pump housing. The drive shaft of the first pump housing operates the pump mechanism in the second pump housing. Both pumps have inlet and outlet ports for conveying material to be pumped. The outlet ports of both pumps discharge the pumped material into a block element which slidably receives the ends of two concentrically positioned inner and outer stuffing horns. The pumped material from the second pump housing delivers pumped material into the end of the inner stuffing horn, and the pumped material from the first pump delivers meat emulsion or the like into the the end of the outer stuffing horn.

  • Patent number: 4694537
Abstract: The process and device for the fixture of suspension elements, particularly suspensions loops, to sausages by means of sealing components, e.g. clamps. The sausage sheath is be restricted by a binding tool (12) which can be set to three positions. The binding tool (12) is open in the initial position between two sausage filling processes so that a suspension loop (16) can be fed through the opening (48). During the sausage filling process an intermediate position is adopted in which one part (54) of the binding tool holds the suspension loop (16). The binding tool (12) is closed in the shape of a ring at least during the filling procedure for large calibers of sausage. Subsequent to the filling process the binding tool then executes the binding movement.

Abstract: In a chute feed apparatus for carding engines, cards and like machines, there is disclosed means for changing the widthwise configuration of sheet material being fed and exiting the apparatus by changing the deformation of a constituent wall of the delivery chute shaftway. This wall has a deformable member and displacement devices and holding members which deform the wall's shaftway contours responsive to the density or thickness of the sheet material exiting so as to provide sheet material with a desired contour widthwise.

  • Patent number: 4694539
Abstract: A method of exchanging empty cans with cans filled with sliver at a spinning machine having set locations for the cans wherein a mobile transport device is automatically driven along a floorlike travel path at the spinning machine includes placing empty cans on the travel path, successively placing filled cans entrained with the transport device automatically at set locations of the machine which are unoccupied, picking up the empty cans on the travel path automatically with the transport device, and driving the transport device automatically back to a loading station, when the transport device is too full to pick up any more cans, so as to surrender the empty cans and pick up filled cans at the loading station preparatory to driving the transport device back to the spinning machine.

Abstract: A can coiler with sliver inlet opening (1) on its head side, which opening is arranged in a rotating plate (11) and is flanked by calender rolls (16) the drive for which is derived from the rotary motion of the rotating plate (11) in the head of the can coiler. A structural form which is simple to manufacture and favorable in use and for maintenance is provided by the drive of the calender rolls being developed as a belt drive with a friction wheel (13) which can be shifted into position of application against an annular surface (18') of the head (10) of the can coiler.

  • Patent number: 4694541
Abstract: An elastic tie-down comprises as inelastic rope having enlargements thereon that are captured by an elastic sleeve. The elastic sleeve is shorter than the spacing between the rope enlargements. Pulling the rope ends causes the rope enlargements to bear against the sleeve ends and stretch the sleeve. The rope ends are provided with hooks. The length between the hooks is adjustable without affecting the elastic properties of the tie-down by a clip that slidably receives the standing end of one of the rope ends extending from the sleeve. The clip also secures the rope end, thereby creating an adjustable sized loop in the rope. A hook is slidably received over the rope in the loop. Sliding the clip along the rope standing end varies the size of the loop and thereby alters the length between the two hooks independently of the tension in the elastic sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4694542
Abstract: A flat bag closure (17) of the type having at its edge a V-notch (12) which communicates at its base with a bag neck gripping aperture (14). The closure is made of a non-frangible material so that it can fold along an axis (20) aligned with said notch and said aperture without breaking. The closure thus can be repeatedly bent along such axis to facilitate repeated insertion and removal of a twisted poly bag's neck (36) into and from the aperture. The axis may contain a hinge formed by perforations (19, 24, 26, 28, 30), a concavity (22), or slits (32, 34) to facilitate bending.
