  • Patent number: 5711037
Abstract: A waterless urinal meeting U.S. sanitation code requirements and providing advantages of cost savings, water conservation and easy maintenance is particularly beneficial in public or institutional urinal facilities. An odor trap cartridge unit is configured as a coaxial dual chamber bell trap that eliminates the need for conventional P or J type traps required in water-flushed urinals. In the odor trap, a body of oily liquid sealant, floating on a body of trapped residual urine, serves as an odor barrier but allows entering urine to immediately permeate downwardly through the sealant and proceed to a drain without requiring flushing. The odor trap is molded from two plastic parts that are assembled together to form a cartridge unit that fits readily into a receptacle cavity of urinal bowl configured for wall mounting. The cartridge stays in place by friction and gravity, and can be easily removed with a special tool.

  • Patent number: 5711058
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a transducer assembly having a curved transducer array. The method includes the steps of fabricating a laminated assembly by bonding the following layers together: a layer of electrically conductive, acoustic matching material, a layer of piezoelectric ceramic, a flexible printed circuit board and a layer of acoustic damping material. The acoustic damping material changes from an inflexible state to a flexible state when heated. The laminated assembly is then diced to a depth so that the only undiced portion is a portion of the acoustic damping layer. A core body having a curved front face in the shape of a cylindrical section is fabricated. Then at least the undiced portion of the layer of acoustic damping material is heated into a flexible state. The heated undiced portion of the layer of acoustic damping material is flexed to conform to the curved front face of the core body.

Abstract: To produce an elongate hollow metal body with a cross-sectional contour varying in the longitudinal direction by the internal high-pressure forming process in an internal high-pressure forming press, a sheet-metal blank composed of two blank parts of identical area is first produced, each part having, apart from additional joining-area parts provided in the region of the longitudinal edges, in the longitudinal direction at least the length of the longitudinal hollow body and in the transverse direction at most half the length of the respective cross-sectional contour. Subsequently, the two blank parts are laid one on top of the other and are joined together, in particular welded, in the region of the joining-area parts. Thereafter, the sheet-metal blank is expanded by introducing a pressure medium between the two blank parts held within a tool consisting of two dies.

The head assembly includes an aluminum base having a magnet and shield assembly attached to a back thereof. A head os attached to a rigid beam with a voice coil formed thereon and the head and beam are flexibly attached to the base with the voice coil functionally located for movement within the magnet assembly. A flag on the beam is sensed by an optical sensor attached to the base such that a horizontal position of the head can be sensed. An azimuth arm is attached to the front of the base having an azimuth and penetration datum affixed thereto. The azimuth arm is moved horizontally in relation to a mount plate of a data cartridge for azimuth adjustment. The penetration datum is adjusted for the penetration alignment relative to the mount plate.

  • Patent number: 5711068
Abstract: A preform of a superplastically formed fan blade for a turbofan aeroengine, includes two blade flank components and a core sheet sandwiched between them. A manufacturing process for producing the blade preforms comprises cutting titanium plate material into rectangular prism shaped pieces of suitable length and thickness. Each piece is cut lengthwise along an inclined plane to form two separate tapered panels which become the blade flank components. After machining to a three dimensional profile on the cut faces, pairs of the blade flank components are stacked together with their uncut surfaces confronting each other, the core sheet being placed between them. The blade flank components are then diffusion bonded to the core sheet in a predefined pattern so as to create the blade preform with an internal structure defined by the bonding pattern. The blade preform can then be superplastically formed and finish machined to produce the fan blade.
