Abstract: The mowing implement of a mowing apparatus, rotating about a vertical axis, is driven over a transmission comprising a freewheel mechanism and driving pins. A drive shaft is connected with the freewheel mechanism so that there cannot be any mutual rotation therebetween. In a basic orientation parallel to the axis of rotation of the mowing implement, these driving pins produce a driving connection between the freewheel mechanism and the mowing implement for driving the latter. In the event of a stoppage of the drive shaft, the driving pins, together with the freewheel mechanism, carry out a lifting motion, which interrupts the driving connection between the mowing implement and the freewheel mechanism. During their lifting motion, the driving pins activate a braking device in the region of the interior of the transmission housing above the freewheel mechanism. This braking device rapidly brings the mowing implement, which continues to run, to a stop.

  • Patent number: 5749216
Abstract: In the case of an open-end spinning arrangement, a spinning rotor is arranged in a rotor housing, to which a vacuum of at least 500 mm water column is applied. A fibre feed channel, beginning at an opening roller with an entry opening, is directed with an outlet opening at a sliding wall of the spinning rotor. The fibre feed channel bends slightly in the direction towards a fibre collecting groove of the spinning rotor. The cross sectional area of the outlet opening of the fibre feed channel measures at least 19 mm.sup.2 and amounts to at least 30% of the cross sectional area of the entry opening. As a result of the bend in the fibre feed channel, the fibres are collected together in a fibre bundle on a longitudinal side of the fibre feed channel. The fibre bundle occupies only a part area of the outlet opening when leaving the fibre feed channel and is fed with high precision onto the sliding wall. The outlet opening can thus have larger dimensions without this leading to inaccurate feeding of the fibres.

Abstract: The control systems for reducing NOx in the combustion systems of past gas turbine engines has incorporated a variety of expensive and complicated techniques to reduce the NOx level. For example, such systems use schemes for introducing more air into the primary combustion zone, recirculating cooled exhaust products into the combustion zone and injecting water spray into the combustion zone. The present system reduces the formation of NOx within the combustion zone by controlling the air/fuel ratio and more explicitly by controlling the air portion of the air/fuel ratio. The present system includes a device for directing a portion of the flow of compressed air exiting a compressor section into an injection nozzle and into a combustor, a device for reducing the flow of compressed air into the combustor.

Abstract: In a horizontally opposed type engine, right and left exhaust pipes are provided for right and left cylinder banks, respectively and a collecting pipe is disposed to collect gases these two exhaust pipes. Further, in a two-stage catalytic converter system, two main catalysts are provided for the two exhaust pipes, respectively, and a subsidiary catalyst is provided in the collecting pipe. An oxygen sensors is provided in each of the exhaust pipes on the upstream side of it's main catalyst. The air-fuel ratios of both the banks are controlled simultaneously on the basis of the output of one of the sensors, and the air-fuel ratio of the other bank is corrected on the basis of a difference between the outputs of the two oxygen sensors. Accordingly, the air-fuel ratios of both right and left banks can be controlled appropriately, without the use of an auxiliary oxygen sensor. As a result, it is possible to improve the purification capability of the auxiliary catalyst in the collecting pipe.
