  • Patent number: PP10439
Abstract: This invention relates to a new and distinct cultivar of Hydrangea macrophylla (Thunb.) named `Frau Knue` which originated as a seedling from the inventor's controlled hybridization of the Hydrangea macrophylla cultivars `Crystal` and `Silver-Edge` and is distinguished from its parents by the unique pigmentation pattern which gives a fleur-de-lis-like appearance to its florets. Sepal color of `Frau Kinue` is approximately one half white with blue or pink pigmentation beginning at the base of the sepal and fading to white as it progresses across the length and width of the sepals. Color is deepest at the base of the sepals. The sepals of `Crystal` are uniformly blue and the sepals of `Silver-Edge` are uniformly red with a white edge. The new variety `Frau Ki nue` further possesses the favorable charactertistics of a compact growth habit, long lasting large flowers on a sturdy peduncle, and ability to be easily forced in a greenhouse for flowering in the spring.

  • Patent number: PP10440
Abstract: This invention relates to a new and distinct cultivar of Hydrangea macrophylla (Thunb.) named `Frau Fujiyo` which originated as a seedling from the inventor's controlled hybridization of the Hydrangea macrophylla cultivars `Madam Blumkock` and `Silver Edge` and is distinguished from its parents and all other varieties of Hydrangea macrophylla of which I am aware by the combination of the distinctive pigmentation pattern of its sepals which gives the florets a pin-wheel appearance; its compact growth habit; the ease with which it can be forced in a greenhouse; and its large, dense, long-lasting inflorescence having a strong peducnle which does not require staking for support, making it ideal for pot culture. Sepal pigmentation of individual Hydrangea macrophylla plants depends on the nutrients and pH of the growing medium. The sepals of `Madam Blumkock` are uniformly pink and the sepals of `Silver Edge` are uniformly red with a white edge.

  • Patent number: 5761762
Abstract: A cleaner has a power source, a vacuum generator, a waste liquid tank and a wiper-nozzle unit. Liquids and/or contaminants may be removed by slidably moving a wiper on a flat surface to collect a mass of liquid and inserting a small-sized nozzle into the collected liquid to suck it through the nozzle when the interior of the cleaner is drawn into vacuum. Since the small-sized nozzle is located adjacent the wiper, less air will be sucked in by the cleaner when the collected liquid is sucked in by the nozzle. Therefore, the cleaner can be driven by a reduced power and also reduced in size and weight.

  • Patent number: 5761764
Abstract: A carpet cleaning machine includes a centrifugal separator with an air stream exit mouth having a mouth area. The improvement involves two air flow guides having, respectively, first and second apertures. The area of the second aperture is less than that of the first aperture and the guides define an annular cavity between them. Such cavity "captures" dirty material that would otherwise pass downstream into a mechanical filter and prematurely clog such filter. A new, related machine nozzle and method for removing dirty material from air flowing in a carpet cleaning machine are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5761765
Abstract: An anchoring device that securely attaches a carpet runner to an underlying carpet that is inexpensive to manufacture, easy to install, does not create a raised area to cause one to trip and fall or create a wear spot in the carpet runner or carpet, and can be easily removed without damage to the carpet runner or the underlying carpet.

  • Patent number: 5761766
Abstract: A piston door stop comprising a hollow first shaft, a hollow second shaft which partially contains said first shaft, a spring, a base screw, and a rubber cap. The spring extends through the bore of both shafts. The first shaft, second shaft, spring, and the rubber cap are coaxial. The door stopper is screwed into a wall via the base screw such that a bottom surface of a head of the base screw is in contact with the surface of said wall. A swung door first hits the rubber cap which covers the second shaft. The force is then transmitted to the spring which is contained within the two shafts, such that the second shaft moves along the first shaft towards the wall, compressing the spring which is contained within both shafts; thus causing the spring to absorb all of the energy transmitted from the swung door.

  • Patent number: 5761767
Abstract: A handle structure providing the user with a comfortable, natural, hook-type grip, maintaining the use's wrist in a neutral or flexed position during the performance of gripping, pulling, or lifting movements of a repetitive exercise routine or an extended work routine, to facilitate grip strength and endurance. The handle comprises a grip portion from which a fixed or adjustable support surface extends tangentially, the user's palm is engaged by the support surface preventing the hand and wrist from extending due to fatigue or slippage.

  • Patent number: 5761768
Abstract: The present invention is a flexible hinge assembly. The hinge component includes a flexible body having a flange extending lengthwise down each side. The body has a groove cut into it extending lengthwise. The body is inserted into an opening in a frame until the flanges engage the upper surface of the frame. Halfway across the opening, two thin bars extend from each end. These bars enter the groove in the top of the flexible body as it is inserted in the opening, thereby holding the flanges in contact with the surface of the frame. The flexible body may be directly attached to an article to be hinged or it may be connected to an attachment device.

  • Patent number: 5761772
Abstract: An automated drafting system particularly suitable for drafting textile strands of sliver is provided. The automated drafting system includes a synchronous drive sliver drafting roller system utilizing toothed gears in the preferred embodiment operatively connecting a pair of drafting rollers with one of the rollers being directly driven by a motor to thereby cause identical rotation of both rollers. The automated drafting system also includes a system for securing and pressuring together upper and lower sliver drafting rollers wherein the lower roller of a pair of drafting rollers is preferably maintained in a fixed but rotational position while the upper roller of the pair is pressured towards the lower roller and controllably restricted as to both horizontal and vertical movement during the drafting process.

  • Patent number: 5761773
Abstract: A fleece funnel is provided for use in textile drafting equipment to receive a fiber fleece conveyed by a pair of delivery rollers. The fleece funnel includes a long side disposed adjacent to the delivery rollers. A funnel area is defined in the long side for receiving the fiber fleece. The funnel area defines a planar guiding surface in a planar substantially concave impact surface. A funnel opening is defined in the impact surface and a funnel channel is in communication with the funnel opening. A ramp surface is defined on the long side outside of the funnel area. The ramp surface meets the impact surface and defines a common contour line with the impact surface so that air forced out of the fiber fleece balloon formed as the fiber fleece is conveyed into the funnel opening is drawn away from the funnel area towards the ramp surface unimpeded by planar components of the fleece funnel.
