  • Patent number: H1740
Abstract: A video camera system combining a charge coupled device (CCD) with a rotating prism optical element is disclosed. The rotating prism optical element moves an optical image on the transducer surface of the CCD array in precise synchronism with a CCD array clock which is transferring charge between transducer sites of the array. Since charge transfer occurs in synchronism with image movement, the exposure of transducer sites to image blurring or smearing additional optical energy is eliminated. The disclosed apparatus is particularly useful for high-speed, high-resolution, military, possibly airborne, camera systems. The invention also contemplates resolution of color images, with the use of color selective filters over adjacent columns of the CCD imaging array. The invention additionally contemplates utilizing a rotating prism optical element with other types of detectors.

  • Patent number: H1741
Abstract: A method and apparatus for stress testing a computer memory system is disclosed. A sequential series of bit patterns, comprising 1's and 0's, is impressedd upon a computer memory so that, during testing, every memory cell stores a 1 while the eight adjacent neighboring memory cell stores 0's. Subsequently, the complimentary bit patterns are impressed upon memory, wherein every memory cell, at some time during the test, stores a 0 while the eight immediately adjacent neighboring memory cells store 1's. The disclosed bit pattern maximizes stress on the cells, In an interleaved dual memory bank configuration, memory cells are sequentially accessed from the highest to the lowest address of one memory bank, while memory cells are sequentially accessed from the lowest to the highest memory address in the other memory bank. Toggling successive memory accesses between the dual interleaved memory banks maximizes stress on the address driver components of the computer memory system.

  • Patent number: RE35837
Abstract: A flashtube circuit includes a switch which in a first position regulates the storage over time of energy in a first energy storage device and in a second position allows the transfer of energy from the first energy storage device to a second energy storage device. A microcontroller receives the input voltage and then samples and digitizes it for input into a lookup table. The microcontroller repeatedly cycles the switch between flashes by controlling the time the switch is in its first position. The lookup table output provides the signal for determining the time the switch remains in its first position. The time interval from the last flash controls the time the switch is in its second position. The cycling of the switch is controlled accordingly such that the second energy storage device acquires the predetermined amount of energy for the flash just as the triggering circuit is initiated by the microcontroller.

  • Patent number: 5774909
Abstract: The invention proposes a foot bath for applying a treatment liquid to feet and which facilitates the use of a smaller quality of treatment liquid. The foot bath comprises a deformable liquid collection surface (22) bounded by a rim to retain the liquid therewithin. More particularly the deformable liquid collection surface comprises a sheet of flexible impervious material disposed over a resilient supporting layer (20). The action for an animal walking on the surface (22) causes a well to be formed in the liquid collection surface into which the treatment liquid flows. The depth of the supporting layer determines the depth of the well.

  • Patent number: 5774912
Abstract: A portable towel having a rectangular sheet and a relatively smaller head piece. The head piece has a two layer section, forming a pocket with an openmouth, extending from a one layer section attached to the top edge of the sheet and to the inside of the pocket. In its folded state, the rectangular sheet is folded up and rolled inside of the pocket along with the one layer section of the head piece. The pocket is therefore being closed at its openmouth and carried over with a belt like handling feature. With the sheet being in its unfolded state, the pocket may be filled with any type of clothing articles to form a pillow or the like attached to the sheet. Also, the towel has a few pouches that can be filled with weights such as sand to hold it in place on the ground.

  • Patent number: 5774914
Abstract: A hospital bed (10) especially adapted for use by a woman giving birth is disclosed. The bed includes a base (11) on which a litter frame (12) is positioned. A lift assembly (14) attached to the base and is connected to a inner frame (50) located inside the litter frame. The lift assembly moves the inner frame and litter frame up and down. The litter frame is pivotally connected to the inner frame so that the litter frame can be selectively moved in the Trendelenburg position. A Fowler frame (16) is attached to the litter frame so that it can be both pivoted upwardly from the horizontal and selectively moved toward the seat end of the litter frame. Foot rests (30) are attached to the under surface of the litter frame and can be swung into position as needed. Leg rests (34) are mounted to the under surface of the foot rests and likewise be simply pivoted in place. A foot frame (24) is attached to the seat end of the litter frame and can be readily separated from the rest of the bed.

  • Patent number: 5774916
Abstract: Ergonomic support members formed of and contoured to a corrected spinal curvature of an individual. The matrix provides the rigid support necessary for correction of the spinal curvature by gradual realignment with continued use of the support members, and may have channels for optional forced air flow, for heating and cooling and comfort of the individual during sleep or rest. Each support member is closely contoured to have a concave cross-section dimensioned according to the serial cross sections of a respective body section (e.g. head, shoulders, thorax, pelvis, and legs) while laying supine. The resulting contour of the support member thus provides the necessary convexity to evenly distribute body weight along the entire longitudinal axis of the spine and thereby provide corrective support for the spinal curvature. In the transverse plane, the contour forms a snug concavity wrapping up the sides of an individual.
