Patent number: 5775022Abstract: The invention is a self-propelled floating decoy for simulating the swimming characteristics of waterfowl. Propulsion in the water is produced by a sculling tail fin (25) which also causes a side to side rocking motion that simulates the back and head movement of a live duck paddling its feet. The decoy includes a flat base (11) with a shallow draft. The flat bottom of the base (10) is the lowest point in the water with no obstructions that would become entangled in congested water. An opening (11c)in the rear end extends through the base (11) so that an electric motor(16) driven propulsion system moves a tail fin (25) coupled to said propulsion system through the opening (11c). A decoy shell (9) representative of a water fowl is attached to the base (11). The tail fin (25) moves from side to side providing a motion to the decoy approximating the motion of a swimming water fowl.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 1996Date of Patent: July 7, 1998Inventors: Jack F. Patent number: 5775064Abstract: The present invention relates to a cartoning machine in which box-like (i.e., generally rectangular) contents with a carton positioned therearound are fed, and when the box-like contents with the carton have passed a pivotable face of a conveyance pocket positioned on the most upstream side in the conveyance direction, a fold-down piece operates to fold down an upper body flap of the carton. After this operation, the pivotable face is raised from a lower position to fold up a lower body flap, whereby the lower body flap is overlapped on the outside of the upper body flap to complete the body folding of the carton. Thereafter, a plurality of conveyance pockets are conveyed simultaneously by intermittent operation of endless flexible members, whereby side flaps of each carton, which has gone through the body flap folding operation, are folded in successively to complete the cartoning.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1996Date of Patent: July 7, 1998Assignee: Tokyo Automatic Machinery Works, Ltd.Inventor: Yasuo Iwata

Patent number: 5775065Abstract: Method of and apparatus for cutting and heat sealing a film with a smooth seam which extends substantially the transverse width of a wrapped package utilizes a mechanism having a cool clamping portion and a hot sealing portion which are sequentially actuated. The clamping portion, with segments upstream and downstream of a sealing position, is activated to firmly hold the film against a base plate. The sealing portion is located between the upstream and downstream segments of the clamping portion. The heated sealing portion is brought into contact with the film as a cutting member cuts the film. The sealing head is retracted as the clamping portion holds the film to allow longitudinal film shrinkage and prevent transverse film shrinkage of the film. The clamping portion separates and the next package in a succession of film-enclosed packages is moved downstream of the sealing position.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1997Date of Patent: July 7, 1998Assignee: Ossid CorporationInventor: Sidney S. Patent number: 5775067Abstract: A wedge for selecting articles to group on a cartoning machine where a wedge face that reacts infeed pressure has an outwardly curved surface. The curved face greatly reduces damage from infeed pressure to thin-walled cylindrical articles, such as beverage cans. In the preferred embodiment, the selector wedge is designed to attach to a flight bar on a selecting system of the cartoning machine. It has a recess to accept an end of a flight bar and holes through it for bolting the wedge to the flight bar.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 1997Date of Patent: July 7, 1998Assignee: Riverwood International CorporationInventor: Cory E. Patent number: 5775069Abstract: A density control cable is provided on an agricultural bagging machine for engagement with the material being bagged as the material is forced past the density control means into the bag being filled with agricultural material. A beveled press plate is provided on the bagging machine frame rearwardly of the rotor on the bagging machine for forcing the agricultural material upwardly, rearwardly and outwardly as the material passes thereby. A hydraulic cylinder is operatively connected to the density control cable to enable the width of the loop of the cable to be selectively varied.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 1997Date of Patent: July 7, 1998Assignee: Versa CorporationInventor: Steven R. Patent number: 5775071Abstract: A device for correcting the gait of a bad gaited horse comprises soft flexible tubing with a strap routed therethrough. The tubing is placed in the armpits between the horse's body and the tops of the forelegs causing the horse to turn the knees of its forelegs slightly outwardly and thereby reduce a knock kneed or toes out condition. The strap has loops with buckles at the ends to adjustably connect with the shafts of a sulky. Shock cords provide tension between the loops and strap at the ends. Safety straps also connect the strap in the tubing with the loops and buckles at the ends. A chest strap with a buckle connects the strap and tubing across the chest of the horse. The device is placed around the neck of the horse and is buckled across the chest. The ends of the device are brought under the body between the front legs and snugged up by fastening the ends to the sulky shafts. With proper adjustment the tubing is positioned in the horse's armpits. The method of installing the device is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1996Date of Patent: July 7, 1998Assignee: Protecto Horse Equipment Co.Inventor: Al G. Terwilliger
