Abstract: A new and distinct variety of grandiflora rose plant is provided which abundantly forms attractive brick red blossoms. The lant growth habit is semi-erect. The plant exhibits medium green and glossy foliage, as well as good disease resistance. The new variety is particularly well suited fro growing as attractive ornamentation in the landscape.

Abstract: A new and distinct cultivar of Anthurium is provided. It is a medium size plant, suitable for production in 12.5 cm to 20 cm pots from a single tissue culture produced microcutting `A8` has very vigorous growth; early and abundant branching; full and symmetrical growth habit; early, abundant year-round flowering. Prominent, bright red, highly glossy spathes, typical from the onset of flowering, are held above and among leaves on strong peduncles and remain on the plant for several months past maturity. Relatively light spadixes contrast with the spathes.

Abstract: An apparatus for imaging and analyzing particle components in a sample liquid flow containing particle components such as blood and urine, or fine particles of organic high polymer in suspension or the like. A conventional particle imaging flow cytometer is combined with a light source such as a lamp with small coherence, and an image intensifier with gate function of high response, so that a clear particle image without a deflection or interference fringe is obtained. Thus, in the apparatus having the still imaging function, by using the image intensifier with a high speed gate function, even with a light source of a long luminous time such as a lamp, a clear still image of a particle flowing at high speed is obtained.

Abstract: An active device, such as a field effect transistor ("FET") or MMIC, converts microwave signals between a microstrip transmission line ("microstrip") and a coplanar wave guide ("CPW"). In microstrip-to-CPW conversion using a simple FET, a gate connection is made to the microstrip signal conductor. A drain connection is made to the center conductor on the CPW. Two FET source terminals are connected respectively to each CPW ground strip. The ground strips are electrically coupled to the microstrip ground plane with a minimum length connection so the inductance common to the FET input and output is minimized. The FET can be reconnected so as to reverse the input and output, providing for conversion of signals from CPW to microstrip. Conversion from microstrip to an intermediate CPW and back to microstrip provides for mounting an intermediate circuit, such as an amplifier or other MMIC, directly on the CPW.

The pads are connected together by a belt adjustable in length to account for varying waist sizes. The inventive guard includes no buckles or other hard components that could cause discomfort to the user.

The closeable opening extends only through the crotch area along the inseam of the outer garment and is only of sufficient length to permit being manually spread open by the wearer to facilitate urination from either a standing position or while seated on a toilet. When worn, an improved undergarment worn by the wearer beneath the outer garment is also provided which includes a similarly positioned and sized closeable opening positioned in alignment with the closeable opening of the outer garment.

The protective headgear also provides adequate ventilation through spaces in the tip portion.

Abstract: A church baptistry formed of reinforced polyester material has a main tub area with a bottom wall and contiguous adjoining side walls and end walls extending upwardly from the bottom wall, and at least one integrally formed stairway extending outwardly and upwardly from one or more of the side or end walls. Each stairway has opposed side walls and an inclined bottom wall adjoined at a lower end to the tub area which extends angularly upward and outward therefrom with a flight of steps formed in the inclined bottom wall. At least one lower step is integrally formed in the tub area bottom wall and adjacent side or end wall and extends a distance upwardly from the bottom wall and inwardly a distance into the main tub area beyond the adjacent side or end wall to form a continuation of the flight of steps and may serve as a child's platform. The steps have a tread width greater than the corresponding riser height.

Abstract: Apparatus for monitoring and controlling the level of water in a swimming pool includes a vertically elongated vessel partially-buried below the pool water level at a location close to the return line from the filter to the pool inlet, a connector pipe extending from the vessel to the return line for allowing pool water at sub-level pressure to enter the vessel and rise to the pool water level, and a float-controlled valve supported within the vessel and detachably coupled with a pressure water supply and adapted to open as the float drops below a predetermined desired level and allow fresh water to flow into and out of the vessel through the connector pipe and return line and then into the pool for restoring the water in the pool to the predetermined desired level as determined by the position of the float on the water within the vessel being restored to a float position indicative of the predetermined desired level of water in the pool.

Abstract: A portable shower for outdoor use. The shower is provided with a pyramidal frame and a cover on the frame. The cover includes: a curtain portion defining an opening adjacent the apex of the frame, a waterproof floor portion removably secured to the bottom of the curtain portion upon which a user may stand, and a transparent roof portion removably secured over the opening at the apex of the frame. A collapsible water bottle having a darkened exterior surface for absorbing solar energy may be supported by the frame adjacent the opening. Under the influence of gravity, sun-warmed water may be discharged from the bottle through a short hose for bathing purposes.

Follower pins fixed relative to the seat are arranged to slidably engage matching guide surfaces above the toothed racks. The back is connected to opposite sides of the frame by a pair of link arms pivotal at each point of connection. The examination table is very simple and space-saving in construction, but still allows a tilting of the positioning plate into a vertical position, by virtue of the floor stand having a curved girder which has a base end at the floor fastened rotatably about a horizontal shaft, and the positioning plate is provided with a mount that is movably attached to the girder so that the mount with the positioning plate can be moved along the longitudinal direction of the girder.

Abstract: A table including an articulated deck having a head section, a seat section, a foot section and at least one of the sections is coupled to the frame for movement between a generally horizontal position and a tilted position about a first effective axis above a patient support surface of a mattress of the deck. Pivoting and translation of the deck section extends and contracts the deck sections relative to each other to match the expansion and contraction of the skin of patient as the deck sections move between their horizontal and tilted positions.

Abstract: An orthopedic leg support is disclosed having a planar leg support surface angled at approximately 10 degrees relative to a generally horizontal base, with a calf recess, a heel recess and a channel connecting the calf recess and the heel recess to reduce or eliminate contact and pressure between the device and the calf, lower leg, ankle and heel of a patient. The device further incorporates lateral foot support walls and a sole support wall to prevent inward rotation, outward rotation and plantar flexion of the foot. The device is preferably composed of a semi-rigid foam material having some cushioning and compression characteristics.

Abstract: A nursing pillow adapted for use with twins that can be used by anyone wishing to breastfeed or bottlefeed one baby, or two babies simultaneously. The design of the nursing pillow is generally a squared U-shape with symmetrical sides of equal length and firmness to accommodate the heads and bodies of two babies at once. The pillow can support growing babies from birth to two-years-old, or up to 70 pounds of total baby weight. The nursing surface preferably has an inwardly-angled slope so babies roll naturally and safely towards the user. A detachable back pillow may be included to provide lower and mid-back support for the user.

The support device permits users to maintain a seated position with their legs drawn up on a bed or other support surface without requiring any effort or exertion on the part of the user to retain their legs in this position. The tunnel has a ceiling (15) and a floor (13). The apparatus also includes a lift (102a, 102b, 103a, 103b) for raising and lowering the tunnel (11). The free end (52) of the tunnel is moved vertically by a tilt mechanism (104a, 104b), which has two ends. A cradle (10) is connected to the lift (102a, 102b) and to one end of the tilt mechanism. The apparatus also include a guide structure (14a, 14b) aligning the cradle and a plurality of guidepads (502a, 502b) adjacent the guide structure (14a, 14b) fixed to the tunnel solely at the ceiling (15) for aligning the tunnel (11), leaving the floor (13) to move freely with respect to the guide structure (14a, 14b).

Abstract: The floor cleaning machine is designed for both side-to-side and for linear straight path operation. This is accomplished by having at least one recessed rear transport wheel and at least one side-mounted support wheel. The rear transport wheel is recessed and is used for floor machine transport. The side-mounted wheels are adjustable in a rotatable or a vertical plane and are used in a lowered orientation to support the floor cleaning machine for straight path operation. These side-mounted wheels are in a raised position when the floor cleaning machine is to be used in a side-to-side cleaning operation. Thus the position of the side-mounted wheels determine the mode of operation of the floor cleaning machine. Whether used for straight ahead operation or side-to-side operation, the recessed transport wheels will be used to move the floor cleaning machine from location to location.

Abstract: A scarifying and deburring tool is disclosed adapted to scarify an outer surface of a tubing, pipe or fitting end and scarify and debur an inner surface of a member having an open cylindrical end such tubing, pipe or fitting end. The tool includes an elongated contoured handle with two inner surface scarifying brushes extending from opposite ends of the handle. The handle includes two outer surface scarifying brushes supported in spaced apart throughbores in the handle. A deburring plate is affixed to one side of the handle and includes an inwardly angled deburring scrapers aligned with and extending into respective throughbores. When a tubing, pipe or fitting end is inserted in a throughbore and seated against the corresponding scraper, the end is deburred when the tubing, pipe or fitting is rotated with respect to the tool. The deburring plate includes an opening that functions as a key for opening and closing "B" type acetylene tanks.

Abstract: A pair of brush heads of a toothbrush may be positioned adjacent each other to define a single brush surface or facing each other to define a pair of opposed brush surfaces by slidable engagement between a V-shaped groove of a movable push block and a pair of oppositely directed spiral ribs on a pair of rolling rods supporting the brush heads, so that the single brush surface may be used to clean the front teeth and the opposed brush surfaces may be used to clean the back teeth.

Abstract: The sponge incorporates a sponge block and a hand grasp which may either be an integral part of the sponge block or may be a separate member fixed to the sponge block in a predefined manner. Abstract: A trowel and related method of manufacture in which residual stresses are intentionally imposed upon the bottom working surface and/or the top mounting surface of a trowel blade. Stresses can be imposed, for example, by glass bead peening, shot peening, rolling, and/or brushing the metal trowel blade. Stresses are built up to a working stess level that remains substantially constant with further use of the trowel against abrasive, spreadable surfaces. Imposed stresses on the top and bottom surfaces can also be used to vary the resulting curvature of the blade.

The inventive device includes a wiper arm having an elongate main articulation bow and a pair of elongate carrier bows each pivotally coupled to one of a pair of spaced apart a pivot mounts on the main articulation bow. The wiper arm also includes a wiper blade is mounted to the pair of carrier bows. A heating member having a elongate heating element and an elongate reflector is located between the pivot mounts of the main articulation bow so that the heating member is interposed between the main articulation bow and the wiper blade. The heating element is also spaced apart from the wiper blade so that the reflector is interposed between the main articulation bow and the heating element.

Abstract: A device for cleaning elevator ropes includes a carpet strip clamped to be in contact with the elevator ropes and includes an additional supply roll of carpet. Once the portion of the carpet strip that comes into contact with the elevator ropes becomes soiled, the carpet strip can be advanced so that a clean portion of the carpet strip is positioned to be in contact with the elevator ropes and the soiled portion of the carpet strip is discarded. The carpet strip is secured by a pair of labyrinth type clamps that can be loosened and tightened without use of additional tools.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a safety cage for high suction industrial vacuums. The cage is fabricated from an open perimeter structure having an open end and intake end. Proximate the intake end there is an end guard which serves to prevent large objects from being sucked into the opened end of the cage. Flanges are provided at the open end to engage the intake of the hose. The perimeter structure is created from the cage rings and cage supports which form a rigid perimeter structure which keeps the hose from collapsing. A end guard is provided on the side of the perimeter structure to allow easy manipulation of the cage. Holes in the perimeter structure provide for receiving set screws which engage the side wall of the vacuum hose.

Abstract: A retractable and extendable handle for a piece of luggage is provided at its distal end portion with a distal jaw, and spaced from that, a proximal jaw. These jaws facilitate loading the luggage into an overhead luggage compartment. The jaws may be integral parts of the handle, or they may be parts of an attachment that is affixed to an existing handle. With the handle fully extended, the distal jaw is brought up and over the lip of the floor of the overhead luggage compartment, and then with the proximal jaw pushing against the underside of the lip, the luggage is lifted to force the handle to retract into the luggage. Next, the luggage is pivoted upward about the tip of the distal jaw so that the proximal jaw clears the lip of the floor of the compartment. Thereafter, the luggage is pushed horizontally into the compartment.

Abstract: A torsional door lock for a motor vehicle door including a torsion spring associated with the door or a door pillar and including a weighing arm and torque rod connected to the weighing arm for joint rotation therewith, and an indexing arrangement associated with another of the door or the door pillar and including two indexing rollers cooperating with the weighing arm of the torsion spring for refraining the door in a predetermined indexing position, support axles for supporting the two indexing rollers for rotation thereabout, and bearing sleeves which are made of a maintenance-free bearing material, for rotatably supporting the two indexing rollers on the support axles.

Abstract: An automobile hinge structure has one of a hinge male member and a hinge female member configured by side pieces which have hinge pin holes and are arranged in parallel with a space therebetween, a vertical front piece for connecting the side pieces, and a base piece. The front piece is disposed to be substantially orthogonal with the base piece in a plan view. Such hinge structure has an L-shaped plan view and a square C-shaped vertical cross section with reduction of plate thickness and weight of hinge members, high strength and high rigidity. The reduction in the plate thickness facilitates forming and simplifies a forming mold.

Abstract: A double locking device of a belt clip having a lever provided with a hinge opening through which a hinge shaft passes; a belt clip holder for engaging the lever with a pager housing, the belt clip holder being provided with the hinge opening, a guide projection, an groove, a hanging rib and a hanging projection; the pager housing including a guide rail into which the guide projection of the belt clip holder slides, a hanging recess, an opening provided with a tension part having a protrusion on a side of the guide rail, and a guide channel situated between the opening and the guide rail; a locker including a protrusion adapted to be in contact with the protrusion of the tension part and a stopper adapted to be slid into the guide channel and to be put into the groove of the belt clip holder, thereby to lock the belt clip holder into the pager housing, the locker being engaged into the opening of the pager housing and locking the belt clip holder slid into the guide rail; and a coil spring having the lever tu
