Abstract: An improved process for enhancing the plant nutrient value of relatively low analysis organic waste material (e.g., sewage sludge) involves treating the waste material with an acid and base in a pipe-cross reactor. The process more particularly involves mixing the waste material with water to form a slurry (or initially taking the waste material as a slurry); pumping the slurry to a pipe-cross reactor for reaction with a base, acid, and water to form a melt; spraying the melt onto a recycling bed of fines in a granulator, and flashing off the water contained in the melt as steam; rolling the melt onto recycled fine particles in a granulator to form granulated particles; and drying these granulated particles to form an enhanced plant nutrient value composition (e.g., a fertilizer or soil conditioner having a greater “NPK” value than the original relatively low analysis organic waste material).

Abstract: A method in which engineers having no experience and technical storage can preliminarily easily and accurately predict an amount of dimensional accuracy defect which occurs at the time of press-forming a metal sheet before press-forming without having expertise such numerical value simulations and mathematics. In predicting an amount of dimensional accuracy defect at the time of press-forming a metal sheet, as a stress-strain relationship, an elastic-perfectly plastic solid model having a fixed stress value after being yielded is adopted and a value which is equal to or less than a tensile strength and exceeds a yield strength is used as an apparent yield strength.

Abstract: According to a method of manufacturing a hollow rack shaft, an approximately rectangular plate having a wide rack tooth portion is bent lengthwise. At this time, the plate has, at the central portion, a flat bottom portion on which rack teeth are formed later and a pair of mutually facing leg portions, and, in the vicinity of both ends, a semicircular bottom portion and a pair of mutually facing leg portions. The mutually facing leg portions at the central portion are bent into a gutter-like cross section having a larger clearance than the clearance of the mutually facing leg portions in the vicinity of both ends. The rack teeth are thus formed on the flat bottom portion through the plastic flow of the flat bottom portion and apart of material of the pair of leg portions of this flat bottom portion. The plate on which the rack teeth have been formed is formed into a tube having a hollow inner surface, by bending the plate and butt-joining the edge portions.

Abstract: An air cleaner wherein an element for filtering intake air and an absorber member for absorbing fuel vapor are disposed within a housing. Within the housing, a stopper portion for tentatively attaching the absorber member and a seat portion capable of receiving the absorber member at a side opposite from the stopper portion are formed near a site where the element is mounted. The element or the absorber member has a presser portion that retains the absorber member in a state where the absorber member is pressed against the seat portion, when the element is mounted within the housing.

Abstract: A plurality of detecting means 37, 38, 39, 40 are installed to detect a plurality of type specifying factors of work sheets W. A work sheet type identifying means 41 is installed to identify the types of the work sheets based on the factors detected by the detecting means 37˜40. A parameter selection means 42 is installed to select control parameters in accordance with the work sheet type identified by the work sheet type identifying means 41. A process control means 32 controls a processing means 3 based on the control parameters thus selected. The parameter selection means 42 is composed of a parameter memory means 44 and a parameter selection section 43. Said control parameters include a speed pattern of the ram, a hover height of the ram, a press torque in form-processing, and a number of tons for punching.

Abstract: An apparatus for performing a global planarization of a surface of a deformable layer of a wafer on a production scale. The apparatus includes a chamber having a pressing surface and containing a rigid plate and a flexible pressing member or “puck” disposed between the rigid plate and the pressing surface. A wafer having a deformable outermost layer is placed on the flexible pressing member so the deformable layer of the wafer is directly opposite and substantially parallel to the pressing surface. Force is applied to the rigid plate which propagates through the flexible pressing member to press the deformable layer of the wafer against the pressing surface. Preferably, a bellows arrangement is used to ensure a uniformly applied force to the rigid plate. The flexible puck serves to provide a self adjusting mode of uniformly distributing the applied force to the wafer, ensuring the formation of a high quality planar surface.

Abstract: An apparatus transfers a lead strip of a paper web, in particular the beginning of a still wet lead strip or tail, from a press roll of a paper-making machine to a following section of that machine. An air jet device peels off the beginning of the tail from the press roll and transfers it across a paper roll to an infeed area of a felt which guides the web into the following section. On an infeed area of the felt, an air cushion is created by an air table having a plurality of tiny holes delivering air from a low pressure plenum to the air cushion.

Abstract: Holographic labels are used on a variety of articles of manufacture for security, authenticity, or aesthetic appeal. Manufacturing a holographic label or sticker typically entails microembossing, that is, imprinting or cutting, microscopic grooves into a clear plastic sheet with a shiny aluminum coating. The grooves diffract light and form a three-dimensional image, such as the dove commonly found on Visa™ brand credit cards. Unfortunately, conventional microembossing machines, or microembossers, suffer from a number of problems. For example, these microembossers include two large base rollers that move back and forth in sequence to contact a shimroller. The clumsy back and forth movement not only limits how fast embossing can occur but also causes misalignment of embossed images. To address this and other problems, the inventors devised an exemplary microembosser which includes a single base roller and a shimroller which one or more unique features.
