Abstract: A fully automated package identification and measuring system, in whic an omni-directional holographic scanning tunnel is used to read bar codes on packages entering the tunnel, while a package dimensioning subsystem is used to capture information about the package prior to entry into the tunnel. Mathamatical models are created on a real-time basis for the geometry of the package and the position of the laser scanning beam used to read the bar code symbol thereon. The mathamatical models are analyzed to determine if collected and queued package identification data is spatially and/or temporally correlated with package measurement data using vector-based ray-tracing methods, homogeneous transformations, and object-oriented decision logic so as to enable simultaneous tracking of multiple packages being transported through the scanning tunnel.

Abstract: The present invention relates to fuel injectors having a free floating plunger. Traditional tappet assemblies include a plunger that is mechanically coupled to the tappet, and therefore, cannot be uncoupled over a portion of its movement during an injection event. In the event of a plunger seizure in a traditional tappet assembly, the tappet spring can be prevented from expanding, which can cause major valve train and engine damage. In addition, because the plunger in traditional tappet assemblies is moved to its upward position under the action of the tappet spring, the fuel passages can depressurize if fuel cannot refill the fuel pressurization chamber as quickly as the plunger retracts, causing cavitation bubbles. Therefore, the present invention utilizes a plunger that is not mechanically coupled to the tappet and can uncouple from the tappet during the injection event to address these and other problems related to plunger wear and failure.

Abstract: A webbing take-up device which, when a webbing belt is pulled out, can reduce urging force applied in a direction of taking up the webbing belt. When a spiral spring 48 rotates an adapter 44 with a plunger 70 engages a ratchet wheel 52, a torsion coil spring 56 is wound tighter on the adapter 44. A resultant force of frictional force at this time and urging force of the torsion coil spring 60 which is fit tightly to adapters 30, 44 is greater than urging force of the spiral spring 48. Thus, the torsion coil spring 60 is slack, and the adapter 30 rotates relatively to the adapter 44. In this way, until the torsion coil spring 60 is fit tightly to the adapters 30, 44, even if the webbing belt 26 is pulled out, urging force of the spiral spring 48 is not applied to a spool 20.

  • Publication number: 20010015393
Abstract: A winding apparatus is capable of winding an element wire at a predetermined winding position on winding portions with good alignment of windings by defining the winding positions of the element wire on its winding progress side, regardless of variation of the predetermined winding positions. The element wire is guided to winding positions for the first winding layer on a winding frame, by moving a box member to a position apart from the turn immediately previously formed on the frame, by an amount equal to the diameter of the wire in the direction of winding progress along the axis of the winding frame. While this positioning is maintained, an element wire supplying reel is revolved around the winding frame, and thereby pays out the element wire. Therefore, the element wire is guided to the predetermined winding position defined by the box member and the previously formed turn, and the wire is wound at the winding position.

Abstract: In a solid-state image-sensing device, when light is incident on a phototransistor PTr, the pn junction between the base and emitter thereof causes a current to flow in the base of the phototransistor PTr in proportion to the amount of incident light. Through amplification, this base current causes an emitter current to flow as a photocurrent, and thus a voltage logarithmically proportional to the amount of incident light appears at the gate of a MOS transistor T1 that is made to operate in a subthreshold region. A voltage obtained through integration of the thus logarithmically converted voltage appears at the node “a”, and, when a MOS transistor T6 is turned on, an output current corresponding to the voltage at the node “a” is delivered to an output signal line.

An inspection target surface of the disk member is irradiated with light beams, and the light beams reflected from or penetrating the inspection target surface are received by a line camera in which a multiplicity of pixels are arranged in lines towards the outer periphery from the center of the disk member. Information is taken in from the line camera while rotating the disk member, and a normal spot and a defective spot is distinguished based on the information, thereby detecting the defect on the disk member. The multiplicity of pixels of the line camera are divided into a plurality of blocks.

Abstract: The metering valve has a shutter for a discharge conduit, and an electromagnet for controlling an armature disconnected from a relative stem and sliding along the stem by means of a sleeve. The armature is secured to the stem by a shoulder of the armature cooperating with a C-shaped ring fitted to the stem. A plate is interposed between the sleeve of the armature and a ring nut to reduce the overtravel of the armature, is locked transversely by a support of the electromagnet, and is kept resting on the ring nut by a compression spring. To secure the armature to the stem, the plate has an opening which is ineffective in reducing overtravel when the plate is moved transversely with respect to the armature.

Abstract: A scissor jack assembly with double-lead Acme threaded screw. Through use of urethane or similar material as a braking means, the jack assembly is operable with a self locking action over a wider range of loads and especially at lower loads where an Acme loading phenomenon that results in said self locking action has previously been unattainable. Faster and smoother jack operation is made possible by employing a thrust bearing, including a plurality of roller or ball bearings, with the jack assembly. A spacing washer is also provided to retain the threaded shaft within the trunnions of the jack assembly, in order that the ends of each of the trunnions need not be machined or stamped to retain the trunnions within the jack assembly. Utilizing such a spacing washer decreases the costs involved with manufacturing the jack assembly, while increasing the ability to repair the jack assembly.
