Abstract: A clasp mechanism having a main body, a keeper arm and a spring, where the keeper arm extends through the main body in an arm cavity. The keeper arm is pivotally attached to said main body to operate in a scissor-like manner. The keeper arm has a mating end which abuts a hook end on the main body to form a closed interior space and an actuating shoulder extending from the main body. The spring maintains the mating end in the closed position abutting the hook end until the actuating shoulder is pressed into the main body by the user.

Abstract: A method of making a pair of rotary die cylinders with lands having coacting cutting edges which cut blanks from a web of material passing through the nip of the rotating dies. In cross section each land has an outer face and a pair of spaced apart side faces which are parallel to each other and perpendicular to the chord of the outer face to provide a clean cut and facilitate release of the cut blank from the cutting blades as it emerges from the nip of the dies. The die cylinders are journalled for rotation by recesses with frusto conical locating surfaces in their opposed ends. Each die cylinder is made by machining the recesses in the opposed ends of a generally cylindrical workpiece of tool steel and then utilizing the recesses to locate and orient the workpiece relative to a cutting tool to produce a cylindrical surface on the workpiece concentric with the axis of the recesses and then to machine away portions of the periphery of the cylindrical surface to form the cutting blade lands thereon.

A controller selectively operates the designated one of the first waveform generator and the second waveform generator to create the waveform according to the provided performance information. An output device generates the musical sound based on the created waveform.

Abstract: A connection assembly includes a coaxial cable to microstrip flexible circuit connector and a mating microstrip flex circuit to electronic circuit connector. The coaxial cable to microstrip flex circuit connector comprises a portion which is mechanically attached to the coaxial cable and a portion which is mechanically attached to the microstrip flex circuit. The coaxial cable attachment portion includes a first electrical connector electrically connected to the center conductor and a second electrical connector electrically connected to the shielding conductor of each coaxial cable. The microstrip flex circuit attachment portion includes a third electrical connector electrically connected to each trace and a fourth connector electrically connected to the ground plane conductor. The flex circuit to electrical circuit connector comprises a plurality of unsupported extensions of a trace or the ground plane conductor.

Abstract: A coolant filter for use in filtering a coolant solution which flows through the coolant filter includes a filter housing assembly which is made up of an outer housing which is crimped to a nutplate which defines an internally threaded flow outlet. A generally cylindrical filter element is positioned inside of the filter housing assembly and a first endplate is bonded to the end of the filter element which is adjacent to the nutplate. An endplate member is provided for attachment to the opposite end of the filter element and is configured in such a way so as to define an interior chamber where supplemental coolant additive pellets are stored. A closing plate is applied across the open end of the interior chamber so as to create an enclosed chamber for the supplemental coolant additive pellets. A slow release mechanism is provided for controlling the rate of release of the supplemental coolant additive from the enclosed chamber into the coolant solution.

Abstract: A method of emulsion polymerization of aniline or substituted anilines for making substituted or unsubstituted homopolymers and co-polymers of aniline. The method includes formation of an emulsion of aniline monomers, polar solvent, non-polar or weakly polar solvent and functionalized protonic acid, which is selected for its ability to perform two functions: acting as a surfactant and acting as a protonating agent (dopant) in producing an electrically conducting polymer. Then, an oxidant is added to polymerize the ingredients of the emulsion. This method provides polyaniline particles of highly crystalline and oriented morphologies of controlled aspect ratios.

Abstract: A pull-tab gaming set, a progressive pull-tab gaming system and a method of operating a progressive pull-tab game. The gaming set includes a plurality of pull-tab cards, each card having a front portion, a back portion and a selectively revealable gaming section. The gaming section contains indicia of a redemption value of the card which is unascertainable until the gaming section is revealed. There are at least three two classes of pull-tab cards in the gaming set in the form of winners having indicia of a fixed non-zero value, losers having indicia of a zero value and at least one jackpot card with indicia of an undetermined total value. Seat-support members (12, 13) are attached pivotally to the central platform and to the two end platforms to support the central platform as a seat in a seat mode and to position the central portion between the two end platforms in a creeper mode.

Abstract: Force feedback in large, immersive environments is provided by device which a gyro-stabilization to generate a fixed point of leverage for the requisite forces and/or torques. In one embodiment, one or more orthogonally oriented rotating gyroscopes are used to provide a stable platform to which a force-reflecting device can be mounted, thereby coupling reaction forces to a user without the need for connection to a fixed frame. In one physical realization, a rigid handle or joystick is directly connected to the three-axis stabilized platform and using an inventive control scheme to modulate motor torques so that only the desired forces are felt. In an alternative embodiment, a reaction sphere is used to produce the requisite inertial stabilization. Since the sphere is capable of providing controlled torques about three arbitrary, linearly independent axes, it can be used in place of three reaction wheels to provide three-axis stabilization for a variety of space-based and terrestrial applications.

Abstract: The exposure time of high data rate single spot laser scanner can be extended by the use of Time Domain Integration (TDI) mode imaging to expose thermographic materials. Many thermographic materials, such as thermal printing plates, can not be properly exposed in single spot scanners such as internal drum scanners, due to the shortness of the exposure time of a single spot, but can be exposed by the extended exposure time of TDI scanning. The Scophony effect can also be used as a method of TDI.

The data selector for selecting an output from the first AD convertor or the second AD convertor and sending it out to the control circuit is connected to the outputs of the first AD convertor and the second AD convertor.

Abstract: An apparatus 10 and method for delivering a high partial pressure of a gas into a liquid. The apparatus has a gas transfer device 12 with a housing 14 that includes upstream 16 and downstream 18 regions, between which there is located a gas-liquid contacting region 20 with contacting members 22, such as hollow microporous fibers. A reservoir 36 of gas supplies the gas at a high pressure (P) to a flask 38 of gas-depleted liquid and to the gas transfer device 12. The reservoir 36 of gas provides hydrostatic pressure for urging the liquid through the contacting members 22 and propelling the gas around the contacting members 22 so that the gas does not diffuse across the contacting members 22. The gas-enriched liquid is then ducted to a high resistance delivery channel 44 for administration to a site of interest without effervescence, bubble formation, or significant disruption of laminar flow.

Abstract: A two component type polyurethane adhesive is provided for fiberglass reinforced plastics which requires no cleaning, preparation or treatment of the surface, and the like. The curative component is a nitrogen-free liquid polyether or polyester in an amount such that in association with a urethane prepolymer component containing free NCO groups, the ratio of the free NCO groups in the prepolymer component to the OH groups in said curative component is at least 1.2 and desirably at least 1.35. Such high NCO/OH ratios have unexpectedly been found to provide good adhesion and especially good humidity adhesion and peel strength adhesion to fiberglass reinforced plastics or metal surfaces which are free from any surface treatment.

The injection portion has an open distal end through which the folded intraocular lens from the second lumen passes to be inserted into an eye.

This is achieved by making the carrier (3) of a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) injecting the elastomer onto the back of nonwoven fabric (2) in an injection mold.

The combination includes a basket which includes a horizontal bottom surface having four vertical sides forming an enclosure to hold shower supplies such as shampoo and soap. The basket also includes two overhanging edges located at a top portion of two opposing sides. The shower seat is a horizontally mounted flat surface mounted to a plurality of walls of the shower stall. On the underside of the shower seat is two railings running from a front portion of the seat to a back portion of the seat. The railings each include a lip to support each overhanging edge. The basket is positioned under the shower seat when not in use. When shower supplies are needed, the basket can be slid outwardly from the shower seat to access the interior of the basket. The basket may also include a plurality of perforations to allow water to drain from the basket. Additionally, a plurality of baskets may be stacked under the shower seat.

A flexible belt attaches the clip to the conveyor and is removably secured to the roller. The clip includes a body member having a recess with a plug received therein.

A person to be lifted is secured in a sling assembly which includes attachment loops that can be coupled to the attachment bar. Abstract: X and v-shaped mattress supports comprise a pair of pivotal longitudinal members for replacing conventional wooden slats. Each terminal end of each longitudinal member includes a flange for attachment to the side rails of a conventional bed frame. An extendable leg provides additional support for the center of the slat. The method of use consists of pivoting the longitudinal members of the mattress support to accommodate the particular width of the side rails of the selected bed frame. In one alternate embodiment a pair of v-shaped mattress support slats are connected by a divider for containing a pair of mattresses in side-by-side form.

As the drop-leaf foot section is moved to a vertically upright position, a space between the two foot rest mechanisms is available for physician use. Abstract: A handrail attachment for beds comprises an upstanding side member connected to a base member adapted to fit under a bed mattress. The side member is in the form of an inverted U-shaped tubular member with cross-members mounted between the depending arms of the U-shaped tubular member. The end of one depending arm has a pivot pin mounted therein to permit the handrail to be swung away from the bed in open position, and the other end has a slidable rod mounted therein. The base member has upstanding end portions, one of which receives the pivot pin, and the other of which receives the slidable rod which locks the upstanding side member to the base member. The base member has elongated U-shaped support members mounted at either end thereof to extend under the bed mattress and be fastened to the opposite bed rail. A slidable rod with a series of spaced holes serves as an adjustable leg to support the handrail in open position.

Abstract: A set of firefighting tools for use in fighting forest fires and the like in different types of terrain and vegetation. An elongate handle is equipped with a releasably latching connector, and several different tool heads are attachable to the handle to perform various functions. One head has a pivotably attached shovel blade and is useful as a shovel, as a scraper or as a rake, when held in respective positions by a latching mechanism. Another tool head has a lightweight central body and replaceable oppositely directed axe and grub hoe blade portions. Yet a further tool head includes a resiliently flexible outer portion to which are fastened several flexible straps for beating out fires. Each head includes a socket adapted for emergency attachment to a simple wooden handle portion.

Abstract: An adaptor to mate with a hand tool such as a folding multipurpose tool to make use of the multipurpose tool as a handle to turn tool bits of various sizes, such as screwdrivers or small socket wrenches. The adaptor includes a drive plate which mates with the hand tool, and a tool bit-engaging member attached to the drive plate and movable angularly between various positions, with a latch to keep the tool bit-engaging member in a selected position. A pair of arms of the drive plate engage the sides of the jaws of one type of multipurpose tool to locate the adaptor as required with respect to the multipurpose tool.
